My Review of Exodus: Gods & Kings

So I recently watched Exodus: Gods & Kings and I'm here to bring you my review. So without further ado...

Defiant leader Moses (played by Christian Bale) rises up against the Egyptian Pharaoh Ramses (played by Joel Edgerton), setting 600,000 slaves on a monumental journey of escape from Egypt and its terrifying cycle of deadly plagues.

This was a really great movie. Now look is it 100% accurate to the bible... no, but one it's a movie so just put your beliefs at the door and don't have a pre-judged hate towards it and two it's Hollywood and they are going to take liberties with any story in the bible or any book that you've ever read. As for the film itself it's a really solid piece of filmmaking. The acting is spot on and Christian Bale and Joel Edgerton give amazing performances and really make these people their own. I'm normally not a fan of constantly slow paced films, but this one has a slow enough pace where you are into the film and don't feel bored. Now there a lot of parts in the film that drag on, but it makes up for by having some fast moving action scenes and capitalizes on with some beautiful cinematography and some spectacular CGI. I will say that the one big disappointment for me was the underdeveloped supporting cast which includes Aaron Paul, Sigourney Weaver, Ben Kingsley and John Turturro and when they are onscreen you just don't care enough about them and wonder why they are even in the film. Overall the film has great lead performances and has some of the best cinematography of the year, but and underdeveloped supporting cast really brings the film down. I give Exodus: Gods & Kings a 8 out of 10.

So ladies and gentlemen what did you think of Exodus: Gods & Kings, what would you rate it and what did you think of my review? Let me know in the comments section below and let your voice be heard.
