1. Dunkirk barely edged out The Emoji Movie to hold onto the number one spot, but it will likely lose that spot as both The Dark Tower and Detroit are being released this weekend.
2. Wonder Woman continues to hold onto a spot in the top 10 for the 9th consecutive weekend, but it will likely fall out this upcoming weekend with several new releases coming out this weekend.
3. Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets had a massive drop from it's first weekend and with poor critical reviews, the news doesn't look good for the film and it will eventually cost the studio a lot of money
4. The biggest loser of the weekend was Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets as it made 62.2% less than it did last weekend and there was no biggest winner of the weekend.c
5. I went 3 for 5 on my predictions.

Predictions
1. The Dark Tower $45 Million
2. Kidnap $20 Million
3. Dunkirk $15 Million
4. The Emoji Movie $12 Million
5. Detroit $9 Million

My Review of Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets

So I recently watched Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets and I'm here to bring you my review. So without further ado...

Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets.jpg

In the 28th century, special operatives Valerian (played by Dane DeHaan) and Laureline (played by Cara Delevingne) work together to maintain order throughout the human territories. Under assignment from the minister of defense, the duo embarks on a mission to Alpha, an ever-expanding metropolis where diverse species gather to share knowledge and culture. When a dark force threatens the peaceful city, Valerian and Laureline must race against time to identify the menace that also jeopardizes the future of the universe.

This is one of the more interesting films of the year. Luc Besson is a visionary genius when it comes to his films and no matter how good or bad they are, you can't not say that they aren't visually beautiful. The bright colors he uses in each of films really sets the tone for the entire film and you automatically know what you're getting into. This film has been a huge passion project for him and it shows in the film as his passion pays off and we get one of the better crafted stories in a film that's come out this year. It has a lot of the same action packed thrills as you would typically see in a sci-fi film. Besides that the film doesn't have a lot of great things going for it. Both Dane DeHann and Cara Delevingne are really bland and boring in the film and their characters aren't believable and honestly aren't developed that well either. The film is based off of a series of comics from the 70's and a lot of the elements from those comics inspired several fantastic films such as Star Wars, The Matrix and Avatar just to name a few and while that is fine and dandy, the transition of those comics to the big screen feels  uninspired. Overall the film is ambitious in what it wants to do and it looks visually stunning and has a decent story, but the characters are boring and you could care less to what happens to them. I give Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets a 6 out of 10.

So ladies and gentlemen what did you think of Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets, what would you rate it and what did you think of my review? Let me know in the comments section below and let your voice be hard.
