6-30-14 Movie News

Hello ladies and gentlemen, here is some movie news with some of my thoughts and opinions (which will be in BOLD print). So without further ado...

(NOTE: All of these stories come from comingsoon.net)

We're still almost two years away from the release of X-Men: Apocalypse on May 27, 2016, but today director Bryan Singer has posted the below tease of the treatment by Singer, Simon Kinberg, Michael Dougherty and Dan Harris.

As you can see, what we're looking at is a prologue battle set at the Nile and involving the Four Horsemen, who were also seen in the end credits scene of X-Men: Days of Future Past along with En Sabah Nur (Apocalypse).

What do you think is happening in the scene?

This is pretty interesting. Look X-Men: Days of Future Past is my favortie film of the year so far and it's post-credit scene is the best I have ever seen. This right here gets me excited for X-Men: Apocalypse and I can't wait to see it.

The Royal Marines Charitable Trust Fund, an organization in the UK for serving and retired Royal Marines and their families, revealed an image on their Twitter feed early this morning featuring supporter Henry Cavill, who just so happened to be in costume as Clark Kent on the set of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice! Check it out below.

Also starring Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne, Diane Lane, Jesse Eisenberg, Jeremy Irons, Holly Hunter and Scoot McNairy, the DC Comics film brings together the Man of Steel and the Dark Knight — for the first time on the big screen.

Directed by Zack Snyder from a script by Chris Terrio, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice arrives in theaters on May 6, 2016.

This is a pretty cool photo. It's nice to see actors take time out of their schedule to take a photo for charity. It's also cool to see Henry Cavil as Clark Kent for the film (different from the one we saw in Man of Steel). I am excited as can be for this film and I don't care what the haters say.

Over a year ago, a rumor began to circulate that Marvel Studios was planning a "Planet Hulk" feature film for Mark Ruffalo to star in. It was quickly debunked by director Joss Whedon as "nonsense," but it just won't go away. Now, MTV sat down with Ruffalo and asked him if that particular storyline could sustain a film, which he seemed eager to dismiss. "'Planet Hulk?' I don't think that's the way to go yet," he said. "I think you need more Banner. The whole thing is just him as Hulk, on a planet, fighting other gladiators."

Ruffalo has said very recently that Marvel Studios is considering another solo film for the giant green rage monster, but there's not even a "skeletal version" of what it could be. What would you like to see in a new Hulk solo film?

Mark Ruffalo and The Hulk can next be seen in Avengers: Age of Ultron, which will hit theaters on May 1, 2015.

I agree with Ruffalo, I think we need to see him in a regular Hulk film and then possibly go with a Planet Hulk film. The thing is , the earliest we could see something like this would be late 2018 in a phase 4 type of movie. But if that is the next Hulk film then I am down with that idea.

Sony Pictures Classics has released the teaser poster for Foxcatcher, starring Steve Carell, Channing Tatum, Mark Ruffalo, Vanessa Redgrave, Sienna Miller and Anthony Michael Hall. Based on true events, the November 14 release tells the dark and fascinating story of the unlikely and ultimately tragic relationship between an eccentric multi-millionaire and two champion wrestlers.

When Olympic Gold Medal winning wrestler Mark Schultz (Channing Tatum) is invited by wealthy heir John du Pont (Steve Carell) to move on to the du Pont estate and help form a team to train for the 1988 Seoul Olympics at his new state-of-the-art training facility, Schultz jumps at the opportunity, hoping to focus on his training and finally step out of the shadow of his revered brother, Dave (Mark Ruffalo). Driven by hidden needs, du Pont sees backing Schultz's bid for Gold and the chance to "coach" a world-class wrestling team as an opportunity to gain the elusive respect of his peers and, more importantly, his disapproving mother (Vanessa Redgrave).

Flattered by the attention and entranced by du Pont's majestic world, Mark comes to see his benefactor as a father figure and grows increasingly dependent on him for approval. Though initially supportive, du Pont's mercurial personality turns and he begins to lure Mark into an unhealthy lifestyle that threatens to undermine his training. Soon du Pont's erratic behavior and cruel psychological game-play begin to erode the athlete's already shaky self-esteem. Meanwhile du Pont becomes fixated on Dave, who exudes the confidence both he and Mark lack, knowing that these are things even his money cannot buy. Fueled by du Pont's increasing paranoia and alienation from the brothers, the trio is propelled towards a tragedy no one could have foreseen.

This is a great poster. It gives us the emotional pain that Channing Tatum's character will face in the film. I am really looking forward to this film and I'm excited to see Tatum and Carell to big leaps outside of their comfort zone. This film has gotten a lot of early Oscar buzz from the Cannes Film Festival and it just looks great.

Lionsgate's star-studded action flick The Expendables 3 will be opening nationwide in six weeks or so, and assuming that it does as well as most people think, we can probably expect a fourth installment in the franchise sometime next year. Of course, Sylvester Stallone would be back, but who might join him next time around? One name that's been mentioned is that of Pierce Brosnan, who is best known for being the 5th actor to play James Bond in four hit movies starting with 1995's GoldenEye.

Back in March, Brosnan mentioned that he'd been asked to appear in a future "Expendables" movie, so when talking to Brosnan for his dark comedy A Long Way Down, based on the novel by Nick Hornby, ComingSoon.net asked him about those rumors and if he still had interest in taking a role in the action franchise."I said to [producer] Avi Lerner, 'If it works out and you have a good script, Avi, you know where to find me if you still want me.' It's as simple as that really," Brosnan confirmed. "I had a grand time in his company. Sylvester Stallone is the one that's given us these wonderful platforms for actors who have and had careers to go play and have fun and to entertain. To bring a bunch of guys together who saved the world, fought the bad guys, and put them all on the same stage, that's crazy good."

Brosnan defended his fellow actor Kelsey Grammer (who appears in The Expendables 3) when we joked that we don't remember him saving the world that many times in the past. "He's a fantastic actor, Kelsey Grammer. You don't have that kind of career without having a talent, without having something to say and to give to an audience." Brosnan then added, "It's just about entertainment. Avi is somebody I've heard about and his movies always have big brash entertainment value to them. You can really change the world and that's great, but 'The Expendables'? Yeah, I'd love to do 'The Expendables.' It's just a kick in the pants."

This is pretty interesting to hear. Look I know that The Expendables franchise doesn't have the greatest stories in the world but they are just great action films full of nostalgia. I think Brosnan has earned a spot as an Expendable and I would love to see him in the next installment if it comes to fruition.

1. Despite awful reviews, Transformers: Age of Extinction dominated the weekend box office (sigh)
2. Chef continues to make money and it remains in the top 10 for the 8th straight week despite being in under 1,000 theaters
3. Think Like a Man Too had a huge dip in money and position as it dropped from 1st to 4th
4. Maleficent remains in the top 5 for the 5th straight week
5. Overall this was a really solid weekend at the box office despite Transformers: Age of Extinction gobbling up most of the money

So ladies and gentlemen what do you think of this weekend's box office totals and what are some of your takeaways? Let me know in the comments section below and let your voice be heard.

                                                                                                                                         Jonah Sparks

Weekend Movie News 6-27-14 to 6-29-14

Hello ladies and gentlemen, here is some movie news with some of my thoughts and opinions (which will be in BOLD print). So without further ado...

(NOTE: All of these stories come from comingsoon.net)

The last we heard about the upcoming Bond 24, the script was in good shape and 12 Years a Slave star Chiwetel Ejiofor was the reported top choice for the film's villain. Now, The Daily Mail brings word that some changes are in order. Writers Neal Purvis and Robert Wade, who previously penned five films in the series, have been brought on to do a polish on John Logan's script for the film in an attempt to add more humor, specifically: "the witty repartee between Daniel Craig's 007 and Naomie Harris's Miss Moneypenny, and focusing on the interplay between Bond and Ralph Fiennes's M."

The site also reports that due to these changes, production on the film is now scheduled to begin in December of this year, two months later than the previously-reported October.Daniel Craig, Ralph Fiennes, Naomie Harris and Ben Whishaw are returning for the 24th installment, which will again be directed by Skyfall helmer Sam Mendes. Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson will produce.

Still without an official title, Bond 24 is scheduled to hit theaters November 6, 2015.

This doesn't really bother me at all. I mean usually when rewrites happen that means the film is in a little trouble. But after Skyfall (what I consider the best Bond film), I have faith in the writers. Hopefully they keep Chiwetel Ejiofor as the villain because that would be absolutely awesome.

Dracula Untold is coming October 17th from Universal, the studio that made an indelible mark on the famous monster scene, and today, the film sees its trailer getting an official release.Luke Evans plays Vlad, a man who strikes a dark bargain to save his people and his family... and gets some nifty supernatural powers in the process! Gary Shore directs and, yes, the film is going to be PG-13.

This trailer is actually pretty cool. It'll be interesting to see Dracula's origin story. I have a feeling that this film could be really awesome and this trailer could be a good indication.

Director Colin Trevorrow has shared this bloody new shot from the set of Jurassic World. Opening in 3D, 2D and IMAX theaters on June 12, 2015, the anticipated movie stars Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Ty Simpkins, Jake Johnson, Nick Robinson, Irrfan Khan, Vincent D'Onofrio, BD Wong, Omar Sy, Judy Greer, Katie McGrath, Lauren Lapkus and Andy Buckley. Jurassic World is a sci-fi terror adventure set 22 years after the horrific events of the original Jurassic Park.

This is a really cool photo. It doesn't really give us much but it does give us just a little taste of the carnage that will take place in the film. I'm super excited for this film and 2015 cannot get here quick enough.

A few photos have been released from the UK set of Avengers: Age of Ultron have made their way online and they feature star Chris Hemsworth going to town on some bad guy artillery as the god of thunder. You can check them out below.

Written and directed by Whedon, the film also stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Samuel L. Jackson, Thomas Kretschmann, Aaron Taylor Johnson, Elizabeth Olsen and James Spader. Avengers: Age of Ultron will open on May 1, 2015.

(photos courtesy of Superherohype.com)

These photos are actually pretty great. Yes I would have liked to have seen more characters on set, but Thor is my favorite Avenger and I'm glad to see him. This film is going to be awesome (I don't care what anybody says) and I can't wait to see this film.

The Weinstein Company has debuted the trailer for writer/director Ned Benson's The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby, starring James McAvoy and Jessica Chastain.

Once happily married, Conor (McAvoy) and Eleanor (Chastain) suddenly find themselves as strangers longing to understand each other in the wake of tragedy. The film explores the couple's story as they try to reclaim the life and love they once knew and pick up the pieces of a past that may be too far gone. Screened for the first time at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival, Benson's latest version of their story combines his previous two films – titled Him and Her – uniting their perspectives and taking a further look into the subjectivity of relationships.

The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby opens in theaters on September 26.

This is a fantastic trailer. Now I will admit I haven't seen the two previous films Him and Her (no it's not the one that was nominated for Best Picture and the one where the guy falls in love with his phone). But this film looks really good and I can't wait to see it.

My Top 10 Favorite Films of 2014 So Far

Well ladies and gentlemen we are closely approaching the halfway point of the year and I thought I would go ahead and give my top 10 films of 2014 so far. So without further ado...

10. How to Train Your Dragon 2
A brown haired boy, holding a helmet by his side, his friends and a black dragon behind him. Dragons are flying overhead.

What can I say about this film. It has a lot of of stunning visuals for an animated film and it also has a great story that even tops the first film in the franchise. It has the potential to not not only be nominated but win Best Animated Picture at The Oscars next year.

9. Mr. Peabody & Sherman
Mr Peabody & Sherman Poster.JPG

This was a complete surprise to me. When I first heard about it I wasn't to thrilled and I expected the film to fail. But to my surprise it was actually a great animated film and it did justice to 1960's animated short. Like How to Train Your Dragon 2 it also has the potential to not only be nominated but win Best Animated Feature at The Oscars.

8. Neighbors
A man carrying a baby, standing beside a younger man holding a beer, in front of a picket fence.

This film was just absolutely hilarious. After coming of the heels of another smash comedy Seth Rogen strikes gold again and gives us one of the best comedies of the decade. Zac Efron showed that he can act and hold his own against Seth Rogen. Overall it was just a great film.

7. The Fault in Our Stars
Movie poster featuring Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort in character

Going into this film I heard some pretty great things about so it peaked my interest but I thought it would be another sappy love story. But like I was do I admitted I was wrong. Shailene Woodley showed the world what I already knew and that's that she can act. Her performance is deserved of an Oscar nomination as well as Laura Dern. This is one of the films that I think could be nominated for Best Picture at The Oscars as well

6. The Invisible Woman
The Invisible Woman poster.jpg

This was a smalle sleeper for me. It marked the directorial debut of Ralph Fiennes and he had a great first outing. The film is thought provoking and it reveals a lot of secret information about one of the greatest authors in history.

5. The Grand Budapest Hotel
The Grand Budapest Hotel Poster.jpg

This was another surprise for me. I'm a huge fan of Wes Anderson's films simply because they tell great stories and they have a lot of dark humor. This film right has an all-star cast that all give great performances and this is another film that could be nominated for Best Picture at The Oscars.

4. Noah
Noah2014Poster.jpg

I know this film caused a lot of controversy but I don't care. Look the story of Noah is really short in the Bible so some things were going to have to created to help make a movie. The film had a lot of great visuals and excellent cinematography. It also has great performances from Russell Crowe and Emma Watson.

3.The Lego Movie
A construction worker Lego figure running away from a bright light, with other Lego characters running alongside him.

When I first heard about the film I thought it was going to be horrible and it turned out to be one of my favorite films of the year. Not only is this a great animated film, it is also a great film in general. The film brought out the kid in me as I used to play with Lego's and it tells a great story. The voice cast in the film is also magnificent and the film has some visuals and cinematography possibly the best in an animated film ever.

2. Captain America: The Winter Soldier
Captain America The Winter Soldier.jpg

This film was flat out spectacular. It had the feel of a 1970's political thriller and it had a lot of great action. In my opinion it is the best Marvel Studios movie made to date (yes better than The Avengers) and it will be very tough to beat. It was in contention for my favorite film of the year that is until the next film on my list came out.

1. X-Men: Days of Future Past
X-Men Days of Future Past poster.jpg

Not only is this my favorite film of the year but it is now in my top 15 favorite films of all-time. Look it has everything you could want in a film it has great action, story, acting camerawork, visuals and so many other things. It has the potential to get a lot of buzz come Oscar season as I  believe even with the films coming out in the second half of the year, that this film has a chance to be the first comic-book film to be nominated for Best Picture. Right now it sits at the top of my list and eventhough there are a lot of great films yet to come out, this one looks to be sitting pretty for the top spot of the entire year.

So ladies and gentlemen what are some of your favorite films of the year so far and what do you think of my list? Let me know in the comments section below and let your voice be heard.

                                                                                                                                        Jonah Sparks

My Review of Transformers: Age of Extinction

So I recently watched of Transformers: Age of Extinction and I'm here to bring you my review. So without further ado...

Transformers Age of Extinction Poster.jpeg

An epic battle left a great city torn, but with the world saved. As humanity picks up the pieces, a shadowy group reveals itself in an attempt to control the direction of history...while an ancient, powerful new menace sets Earth in its crosshairs. With help from a new cast of humans (led by Mark Wahlberg), Optimus Prime (voiced by Peter Cullen) and the Autobots rise to meet their most fearsome challenge yet. In an incredible adventure, they are swept up in a war of good and evil, ultimately leading to a climactic battle across the world.

What in god's name did I just watch. This film is flat out horrible. I don't think I've ever been so bored in my entire life. The film brings nothing new or interesting the franchise. I mean using a big bad guy who thinks he's doing good and in the end is doing something really bad, I just explained Patrick Dempsey Character from the third film and Kelsey Grammar's character from this film. Plus add in the fact that he's a government guy and I just explained John Benjamin Hickey's character from the second film. Plus let me describe another character a guy who thinks he's a bigshot bad ends up changing sides while having a few comedic moments as well as a lot of over-the-top antics, I just explained John Turturro's character form the first three film and Stanley Tucci's character form this one. I did however like Stanley Tucci's performance as well as Mark Wahlberg's. Oh and what happened to the Dinobots, I was promised Dinobots and I got them for 10 minutes I mean seriously. Plus the movie is full of conveniences that don't make sense. There were some cool action scenes but most were just loud, annoying and used way to much. While there are a few comedic moments from Stanley Tucci and T.J. Miller's underused and short lived character. See it's these recycled characters, recycled storyline (if you can find one in this film), long runtime of almost 3 hours (there is a good 45 minutes they could have cut from the movie), uninteresting humans so many plot lines going on at once and a bad story you get a crappy film the deservedly doesn't even deserve a score from me. Overall the film is garbage and when the fifth film comes out (we all know it will) please let someone beside Micheal Bay direct. I give Transformers: Age of Extinction a 1.5 out of 10.

So ladies and gentlemen what did you think of Transformers: Age of Extinction, what would you rate it and what did you think of my review? Let me know in the comments section below and let your voice be heard.

                                                                                                                                       Jonah Sparks

My Review of The Transformers Franchise

With Transformers:  Age of Extinction hitting theaters this weekend I thought it would be fitting to review the rest of the Transformers franchise. So without further ado...

Transformers
Transformers07.jpg

Long ago, on the planet of Cybertron, a massive, powerful alien race divided into two factions, the noble Autobots, and the devious Decepticons. They fought for the sole access to a talisman known as the Allspark, a cube with the capacity to grant infinite power, and eventually the Autobots smuggled it off the planet's surface, hiding it in an unknown location on Earth. Now, hundreds of years later, the Deceptacons have come looking for it, and if the Autobots don't find it first, the Earth will be enslaved or destroyed by the evil aliens' use of its massive power. The Autobots don't know where the cube was hidden, but the information may be stored in the most unlikely of sources, as a gangly young Earthling named Sam Witwicky (played by Shia LaBeouf) who's just picked up his first car, has a strange connection to the Allspark's history, making him the unlikely ally of these enormous creatures, as they fight for humankind's survival and the chance to return home.

This film was actually pretty cool. I'm a huge fan of the Transformers cartoon and toys and I feel that the film did it justice. I thought the story was actually quite good for a Michael Bay film. Also the visual effects are just fantastic and absolutely breath-taking. Shia LeBeouf's performance was really great and surprising as well. The pacing of the film is really great even with a runtime of 144 minutes. The one final positive is that the film has a lot of great action scenes and they aren't over the top and coming at you every second of the film. I didn't really like the focus on the humans more than the Transformers as well as the human storylines which were just very boring. Also can Michael Bay please stop trying to be funny because the majority of the jokes are racist, sexist and very stupid. Overall it's a fun popcorn flick and it lays the groundwork for future movies to continue on with. I give Transformers a 7 out of 10.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen
The faces of two robots stand atop a pyramid. A helicopter flies over an industrial facility on the right side of the image, and a young couple is seen in front of the pyramid. The film title and credits are on the bottom of the poster.

Two years after saving the world with the Autobots, Sam Witwicky (played by Shia LaBeouf) is away at college when an ancient Decepticon named "The Fallen" returns to Earth on a mission of vengeance. With the Allspark destroyed, the Autobots lose all hope of returning to their home planet of Cybertron, and begin working with an elite military known as NEST to hunt down any remaining Decepticons. But even as they fight for humanity alongside Major Lennox (played by Josh Duhamel) and USAF Master Sergeant Epps (played by Tyrese Gibson), the Autobots are acutely aware that not all humans are thrilled by their presence on planet Earth. When National Security Advisor Theodore Galloway (played by John Benjamin Hickey) wages a heated campaign aimed at exiling the giant robots back into space, head Autobot Optimus Prime agrees to comply with the voice of the people, while warning them of the potential consequences of leaving the planet unprotected. Meanwhile, Sam contends with an overly cocky college roommate, and attempts to remain faithful to Mikaela (played by Megan Fox) by fending off advances from pretty -- and persistent -- coed Alice (played by Isabel Lucas). Just as Sam begins adjusting to the quirks of campus life, a series of inexplicable visions leaves him convinced that the struggle between good and evil is far from over. And he's correct, too, because the Decepticons have just discovered that Sam is the one human who possesses the ability to tip the balance of power to the Autobots' advantage, and they're determined to gain the upper hand by dispensing with him once and for all. Now, as Sam and Mikaela unearth a secret about the Transformers that alters the entire course of human history, the Decepticon known as The Fallen prepares to return.

The film is a complete pile of crap. Micheal Bay took everything about the first film makes it worse, annoying and insulting. The film is way to long and way to over-the-top. The film pretty much repeats the story of the first film. Now I will cut the film some slack on the writing simply because of the writers strike that took place but it still doesn't mean you have to repeat the first film. With the bad writing there are also a lot of plotholes that just shows how lazy the writers were. After giving a magnificent performance in the first film, Shia LeBeouf gives a horrendous performance as well as the rest of the cast who are just simply annoying and you don't honestly care about them whatsoever. The film is paced horribly and it makes the 150 minute runtime feel like 250 minutes. Also the visuals and action are just way to over-the-top. The film tries way to hard to top the first film and it just fails miserably. Plus the film is flat out racist and sexist. Overall the film is just crap and is an abomination to film itself. I give Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen a 0 out of 10.

Transformers: Dark of the Moon
The poster depicts a Transformer named Optimus Prime, standing with a blade in his left arm, and a blaster in his right arm. There is also a young couple standing below the Transformer, and just where the 3 are standing, there is also a crash-landed Decepticon fighter. Behind the Transformer and the couple, there is a war-torn city of Chicago, with Decepticon battleships surrounding it. The film title and credits are on the bottom of the poster.

When a mysterious event from Earth's past erupts into the present day it threatens to bring a war to Earth so big that the Transformers alone will not be able to save us.

The film is better than expected but still not great. The film has a good not great story but it's good enough to keep you entertained. The film has a lot of amazing visuals that look magnificent in 3D. Once again I hated the fact that the humans were focused on more than the Transformers themselves. With the humans being focused on more they get more and more and more annoying as the film goes on. Also the dialogue in the film is just so absolutely horrendous that a 3 year old could come up with better dialogue. Plus the humor once again is just awful and it's no even funny. Honestly if Michael Bay would actually think things through before putting it in the film then he might actually make an unbelievable movie. Plus the pacing of the film is horrible and the film just drags on for way to long. Overall the film is better than the second film but it's still a horrible film. I give Transformers: Dark of the Moon a 1.5 out of 10.

Overall average rating of franchise: 3 out of 10

Hello ladies and gentlemen, here is some movie news with some of my thoughts and opinions (which will be in BOLD print). So without further ado...

(NOTE: All of these stories come from comingsoon.net)

Previously teased earlier this month when director Guillermo del Toro revealed that he was writing a script for the film with Zak Penn, Legendary Pictures and Universal Studios have revealed that Pacific Rim 2 will debut in 3D and IMAX 3D  theaters on April 7, 2017. "The characters I love will return," del Toro told BuzzFeed in a statement. "Raleigh, Mako, Newt, Gottlieb and who knows, maybe even Hannibal Chau – but we are taking them into a fresh territory that will display amazing sights and battles. The first film set the stage and now we’re ready to have a blast."

In addition, del Toro and Legendary debuted a video in which he announced not only the forthcoming sequel but an animated series and a continuation of the Pacific Rim: Tales from Year Zero prequel graphic novel. Check back for more details on the film and expansion of the "Pacific Rim" franchise as we learn them.

The first film, which was made for about $190 million and opened in July of 2013, earned $411 million at the worldwide box office. Legendary's Thomas Tull and Jon Jashni once again produce alongside del Toro, Mary Parent and Callum Greene. Jillian Share will executive produce.

This news is awesome. I absolutely loved the first Pacific Rim (it was my favorite film of 2013) and I have been dying to hear that a sequel is coming. I'm just geeking out right now and i can't wait til 2017.

The next Star Trek film (either the third or thirteenth, depending on your point of view) has set a course for the final frontier. Director Roberto Orci, in speaking to Geoff Boucher on the Humans From Earth podcast (via Badass Digest) revealed today that, unlike J.J. Abrams' Star Trek and Star Trek Into Darkness, the new film will take place in deep space.

"In this movie they are closer than they are to the original series characters that you have ever seen," says Orci. "They have set off on their five-year mission. So their adventure is going to be in deep space."

Orci is joined on the project by screenwriters Patrick McKay and J.D. Payne, who are helping him pen the next adventure of the Enterprise crew. The expectation is that the new film will land in theaters in 2016, just in time for the franchise's 50th anniversary. At the moment, however, no release date has been set.

This is really great to hear. Look I loved the first two films from JJ Abrams and I'm a big fan of Star Trek, but I can see why Trekkies hate the JJ films and I think what Orci is saying is what is good for the franchise. I'm just excited for this film to come out and it'll be great if they can do it in 2016 for the 50th anniversary.

Already a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe thanks to his appearance in "All Hail the King," Scoot McNairy is headed to the Distinguished Competition. Deadline reports that the Argo star will play an unspecified role in Zack Snyder's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

Also starring Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Amy Adams, Diane Lane, Laurence Fishburne, Jesse Eisenberg, Jeremy Irons, Holly Hunter, Callan Mulvey, Tao Okamoto and Ray Fisher, the DC Comics film brings together the Man of Steel and the Dark Knight -- for the first time on the big screen.

McNairy is currently in the theaters in The Rover opposite Guy Pearce and Robert Pattinson. He's also starring on AMC's new series "Halt and Catch Fire" and will again star opposite Affleck in the upcoming Gone Girl.

This is pretty interesting casting. I'm not really familiar with McNairy's work except for Argo and Monsters and he was pretty good in those films. Now form what I'm hearing is that he'll be Wally West aka The Flash and if that's the case then I'm all for it. We'll see in the next few weeks.

20th Century Fox's President of Production Emma Watts is having a good year and some of that has to do with X-Men: Days of Future Past, which has brought in nearly $700 million at the global box office. Watts and the studio are already hard at work bringing the next round of Marvel properties to the big screen, and in a recent profile piece on The Hollywood Reporter, Watts talked about the importance of directors for their big budget hero romps. "We're making a big bet for 2015 with The Fantastic Four and director Josh Trank," Watts said. "To me, the key is the originality of the filmmakers and the choices they make. Josh is another really interesting example, who is using the vision he gave us in Chronicle to reinvent a franchise he's loved his whole life. It's not that you can't make original ideas -- you can, and we did it with Chronicle. The director is the key to not letting superhero movies go stale. That's the truth."

When asked if we'd be seeing some "found footage elements" to The Fantastic Four, like what Trank did with the surprise hit Chronicle, Watts replied: "It's Josh, so it can't not have that feel. That's his talent, that's what he does, and that's what excites him about it. It is a really interesting young cast, and he is the magnet that's brought them all together."

The subject of X-Men: Apocalypse was also brought up, with the outlet asking if director Bryan Singer would return behind the camera for the film. "Right now we are totally at the outlining phase," Watts added. "But nothing would make me happier than if it all worked out. It's always been the intention for him to do it."

Miles Teller, Kate Mara, Michael B. Jordan, and Jamie Bell will star as The Fantastic Four, set for release on June 19, 2015, with X-Men: Apocalypse scheduled for release on May 22, 2016.

This interview has some good thing s and some bad. First off I love the choice of Josh Trank as director for The Fantastic Four and I hate found footage films and if the film is like then that will turn me off of the film big-time. Secondly I hope Singer is back for X-Men: Apocalypse. Look everything brought forth against him is nothing federal and hasn't been proven yet so I would like for him to come back since he did such a great job with X-Men: Days of Future Past.

New Line Cinema, Warner Bros. Pictures and Village Roadshow have revealed the full trailer for director Steven Quale's Into the Storm. Check it out in the video below!

Opening in theaters on August 8, the action thriller stars Richard Armitage, Sarah Wayne Callies, Matt Walsh, Alycia Debnam-Carey, Arlen Escarpeta, Max Deacon, Nathan Kress, Jeremy Sumpter, Kyle Davis, Jon Reep and Scott Lawrence

In the span of a single day, the town of Silverton is ravaged by an unprecedented onslaught of tornadoes. The entire town is at the mercy of the erratic and deadly cyclones, even as storm trackers predict the worst is yet to come. Most people seek shelter, while others run towards the vortex, testing how far a storm chaser will go for that once-in-a-lifetime shot. Told through the eyes and lenses of professional storm chasers, thrill-seeking amateurs, and courageous townspeople, "Into the Storm" throws you directly into the eye of the storm to experience Mother Nature at her most extreme.

This is a horrible trailer. First off it feels like a found footage film and I hate them simply because of the sloppy camera work and secondly the visuals look horrible. This film feels like something that should be on TV. This film looks horrendous and I already know the rating I'm going to give it.
