My Non-Spoiler Review of Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi

So I recently watched Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi and I'm here to bring you my review. So without further ado...

NOTE: This is a review that is hard to do without spoiling so I'll go more in depth in my spoiler review and I'll post the link here.

Rey (Played by Daisy Ridley) develops her newly discovered abilities with the guidance of Luke Skywalker (played by Mark Hamill), who is unsettled by the strength of her powers. Meanwhile, the Resistance prepares to do battle with the First Order.

This is an absolutely brilliant film. When it was announced Rian Johnson was going to direct Episode VII, you realized that Lucasfilm had a big and bold plan for the franchise and you can clearly see that with this film. Rian Johnson's fingerprints are all over this film and it truly is one of the more mesmerizing films of the year. Every single twist and turn of the film takes you on a journey and does the slight of hand trick where it keeps you focused on one thing while secretly doing something else that you don't see coming. It's a film that takes a lot of risks that have never been taken before in a Star Wars film and each risk pays off beautifully. Visually the film is gorgeous and you truly feel like you're in a Star Wars film set beyond the original trilogy. Story wise the film again takes unexpected twists and turns that might make some people made, but when you look at the context of each one and the fact that we still have a whole new chapter coming in two years to round out the current story each scene makes a lot of sense. The performances are absolutely amazing and really the standouts are Mark Hamill who gives the best performance of his career and as he says in the film, his performance doesn't go the way you think it will which makes for such an enjoyable viewing. Also both Adam Driver and Daisy Ridley take their characters of Kylo Ren and Rey respectively to a whole new level and once you see where they end up at the end of the film, it only bodes well for the future of the franchise. The problems with the film are minor nitpicks on certain character development choices (that will be discussed in a spoiler review) and there is a bit too much comedy in the film, but you also realize that it works in some degree. Overall this film is one of the best of the year and one of the best Star Wars films as it builds towards a bright future for Star Wars movies to come. I give Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi a 10 out of 10.
