The Wolverine Review

After a disappointing showing with X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Wolverine is back on the big screen bigger and better than ever. Here is my review of The Wolverine.

The Wolverine posterUS.jpg

Set several years after the events of X-Men: The Last Stand, Logan/Wolverine (played by Hugh Jackman) travels to Japan, where he engages an old acquaintance in a struggle that has lasting consequences. Stripped of his immortality, Wolverine must battle deadly samurai warriors as well as his inner demons.

I thought the film was pretty good, I felt that the film dragged on and it had some pretty bad pacing. The action in the film was top notch especially the train scene. I also like the scenes with Jean Grey (played by Famke Janssen) and how she haunts Logan every chance that she gets. The love story didn't feel real to me and the Silver Samurai was not the one I was expecting. This is kinda the Wolverine film that I expected and I think its one that the fans wanted, Hugh Jackman gives another good performance as Wolverine and the mid-credits scene is one to see and it makes seeing the movie worth waiting to see the scene. Overall though I am going to give the film an 8 out of 10.

So ladies and gentlemen what did you think of The Wolverine, did you like it or dislike it, and what did you think of my review? Let me know in the comments and let your voice be heard.

                                                                                                                                         Jonah Sparks

Comic-Con 2013 Review

Well ladies and gentlemen Comic-Con 2013 has came and passed and this years festivities will be remembered for a very long time. Today I'm going to give the top 5 headlines from this weekends events. So without further ado.............

San Diego Comic-Con International logo.svg

Now for those of you that don't know what Comic-Con is I'm going to simply put it as nerd heaven for four days in San Diego. Its basically a convention with news about comic books science fiction/fantasy, film/television, horror, animation, anime, manga, toys, collectible card games, video games, and fantasy novels. Now being that this is a movieblog I will only bring you the top 5 movie headlines

  1. Warner Bros. and DC Comics have finally gotten their heads out of the butts and are starting to listen to the fans with their upcoming list of movies. It was announced through a Man of Steel promo that the Man of Steel sequel will be coming out but with a little twist in the form of Batman. That's right in 2015 the Man of Steel and the Caped Crusader are going to be facing off against each in other in the film entitled World's Finest or simply Batman vs. Superman with the same cast and crew as the first Man of Steel returning. That's not all though, they also announced that in 2016 we will see a Flash movie and in 2017 the long awaited Justice League movie will finally hit the big screen. I can say that I am overjoyed with this news and 2015's slate of movies just got even bigger with World's Finest joining The Avengers 2, Star Wars Episode 7 and a whole list f other awesome movies.
  2. Speaking of The Avengers,  Marvel had a panel as well that announced the title of the film which will be called The Avengers: Age of Ultron. What this means is that the film's villain will be Ultron and it will also possibly be the introduction of another hero in the form of Vision who is rumored to be played by Vin Diesel and the film will also introduce the already revealed Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver.
  3. Several trailers were released with the most buzz worthy one being The Hunger Games: Catching Fire which gives a little bit of more in depth detail of what the film will be about for those of us that loved the first film and didn't read the books (like myself)
  4.  It was announced that in the upcoming film The Wolverine (in theaters on July 26th) that there will be a Post-Credits scene which will tease the upcoming film X-Men: Days of Future Past (in theaters on May 23rd 2014)
  5. Finally Sony released a short 40 second promo for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 that featured Electro. It was also announced what some fans already knew or were pretty confident guessers that the film and the 3rd installment will introduce several members of the Sinister Six with the 4th film to actually show the entire supervillain group  fighting against Spider-Man.
So ladies and Gentlemen what do you think  of the headlines, do any of these excite you and are you looking forward to these headlines coming to fruition? Let me know in the comments and let your voice be heard. Also I wanted to state that there will be no new blogs coming out until next Saturday or Sunday due to the fact of me being out of town for the week and I will not have any internet connection, so with that being said if you get bored read my past blogs, comment or just go see a movie. I also want to say thank you to everyone that has read my posts and is supporting me. I have already hit 1000 views ( and before you ask, no I didn't read my page 1000 times, all of my views do not count towards my total views) and I couldn't have done it without you. So again thank you guys and have a safe and wonderful week.

My Top 10 All-Time Favorite Comic Book Movies

In today's film world, the current trend of movies that are succeeding are Comic Book movies with at least 3 that have crossed the $1 Billion mark. Today I'm going to bring you my Top 10 Comic Book films of All-Time. So without further ado........

10. Blade
Blade movie.jpg

What do you get when you give Wesley Snipes a couple of swords and kills my least favorite monsters, you get Blade. Blade (played by Wesley Snipes) is a Vampire-Human hybrid that has the sole duty of protecting humans from vampires. I first watched this film when I was 6 and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Blade has a rating of 55% on rottentomatoes.com.

9. Iron Man
Ironmanposter.JPG

Iron Man was the first film in Marvel's Phase 1 stage all leading to The Avengers. It tells the story of Tony Stark (played by Robert Downey Jr.)who is an industrialist and a master engineer who builds a powered exoskeleton and becomes the technologically advanced superhero know as Iron Man. Iron Man was nominated for 2 Academy Awards for Best Visual Effects and Best Sound Editing, and it has a rating of 93% on rottentomatoes.com.

8. Spider-Man 2
Spider-Man 2 Poster.jpg

This film is one f the rare cases in which a sequel is better than the original. Spider-Man 2 is directed by Sam Raimi and it stars Tobey Maguire as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, Kirsten Dunst as Mary Jane Watson, James Franco as Harry Osborn, and Alfred Molina as Dr. Otto Octavius/Dr. Octopus. Set two years after the events of Spider-Man, the film focuses on Peter Parker struggling to manage both his personal life and his duties as Spider-Man. Meanwhile Dr. Otto Octavius has turned diabolical following a failed experiment and his wife's death. Using mechanical tentacles, Octavius is dubbed "Doctor Octopus" and threatens to endanger the lives New York City's residents forcing Spider-Man to stop him from destroying the city. This is by far the best Spider-Man movie so far and i'll continue to say it until something else happens to make me say otherwise. Spider-Man 2 was nominated for 3 Academy Awards including Best Sound Editing, Sound Mixing and Visual Effects, while 1 (Best Visual Effects) and it has a rating of 94% on rottentomatoes.com.

7. Hellboy
Hellboy poster.jpg

When you have a comic book film that my mom enjoys then i'll probably enjoy it too. The film is about a demonic beast known as Hellboy (played by Ron Perlman) who secretly works to keep the world safe from paranormal threats. I absolutely love this film and it is one of the few comics that I have read every issue ever printed. Hellboy has a rating of 81% on rottentomatoes.com.

6. Thor
Thor poster.jpg

Here is another one of Marvel's phase 1 films. Thor is directed by Kenneth Branagh and stars Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Natalie Portman as Jane Foster, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Anthony Hopkins as Odin, Stellan Skarsgard as Dr. Eric Selvig and Idris Elba as Heimdall. The film tells the story of Thor, the crown prince of Asgard, who is exiled from his homeland to Earth. While there, he forms a relationship with Jane Foster , a scientist. However, Thor must stop his adopted brother Loki who intends to become the new king of Asgard. I may be biased by saying this because Thor is my favorite Marvel superhero, but I do believe that this is the best Marvel Phase 1 stand alone film. Thor has a rating of 77% on rottentomatoes.com.

5. V for Vendetta
Vforvendettamov.jpg

It you want a film that unites a nation to fight against the government and is led by a revolutionist, then this is the film is for you. In the near future Dystopian society, V (played by Hugo Weaving) is a bold, charismatic freedom fighter, attempting to ignite a  revolution against the brutal fascist regime led by Adam Sutler (played by John Hurt) that has subjugated the United Kingdom.  Evey Hammond (played by Natalie Portman), a working class girl that has accidentally been caught up in V's mission and Detective Eric Finch (played by Stephen Rea) that is on a desperate quest to stop V. I love this film and its message can resonate with our government and what it is slowly becoming. V for Vendetta has a rating of 73% on rottentomatoes.com.

4. The Crow
Crow ver2.jpg

I don't care what anybody says, if you have not seen this movie then you know nothing about movies and therefore have never have seen any movies. The Crow stars Brandon Lee (also son of Bruce Lee) as Eric Draven in is last film role, Ernie Hudson as Sgt. Albrecht and Rochelle Davis as Sarah. The film tells the story of Eric Draven , a rock musician who is revived from the dead to avenge the murders of himself and his fiancee.  The reason for this film being Lee's last is that he was killed on set when a prop gun used during shooting of  an earlier scene  was accidentally loaded with live ammunition that lodged into Lee's chest. Lee gives what has been called on of the most haunting performances in movie history and this film was to be his breakout role. The Crow has a rating of 82% on rottentomatoes.com.

3. The Avengers
TheAvengers2012Poster.jpg

In what is the greatest comic book movie of all time Marvel brings some of its major characters and puts them in to one huge film. In the film Nick Fury (played by Samuel L. Jackson), director of the peacekeeping organization S.H.I.E.L.D., recruits Iron Man/Tony Stark (played by Robert Downey Jr.), Captain America/Steve Rogers (played by Chris Evans), Hulk/Bruce Banner (played by Mark Ruffalo) and Thor (played by Chris Hemsworth) to form a team that must stop Thor's adoptive brother Loki (played by Tom Hiddelston) from subjugating Earth. The Avengers was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Visual Effects and it has a rating of 92% on rottentomatoes.com. .

2. Captain America: The Winter Soldier
Captain America The Winter Soldier.jpg

After the cataclysmic events in New York with his fellow Avengers, Steve Rogers, aka Capt. America (played by Chris Evans), lives in the nation's capital as he tries to adjust to modern times. An attack on a S.H.I.E.L.D. colleague throws Rogers into a web of intrigue that places the whole world at risk. Joining forces with the Black Widow (played by Scarlett Johansson) and a new ally, the Falcon (played by Anthony Mackie), Rogers struggles to expose an ever-widening conspiracy, but he and his team soon come up against an unexpected enemy. Captain America: The Winter Soldier currently has a rating of 89% on rottentomatoes.com.

  1. The Dark Knight
Dark Knight.jpg

Batman is my favorite superhero and a Batman film tops my list. The Dark Knight is directed by Christopher Nolan and it stars Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Heath Ledger as The Joker, Michael Caine as Alfred Pennyworth, Gary Oldman as James Gordan, Aaron Eckhart as Harvey Dent/Two-Face, Maggie Gyllenhaal as Rachel Dawes and Morgan Freeman as Lucius Fox. In this film Batman raises the stakes on his war on crime. With the help of Lt. Jim Gordan and D.A. Harvey Dent, Batman sets out to dismantle the remaining criminal organizations that plague the city streets. The partnership proves to be effective,  but they soon find themselves prey to a reign of chaos unleashed by a rising criminal mastermind known to the terrified citizens of Gotham as The Joker. This film is amazing and it is a masterpiece and Leger gave an Oscar winning performance this was also his last film to be completed from beginning to end. The Dark Knight was nominated for 8 Academy Awards including Best Supporting Actor, Art Direction, Cinematography, Film Editing, Makeup, Sound Editing, Sound Mixing and Visual Effects, while winning 2 (Best Supporting Actor and Sound Editing) and it has a rating of 94% on rottentomatoes.com.

So ladies and gentlemen what do you think of the list, do you agree or disagree with my list and what are you favorite comic book movies? Let me know in the comments below and let your voice be heard.

Here are my Top 5 observations and opinions
  1. In a phrase I never thought I would hear myself say "Grown Ups 2 beat Pacific Rim in the US". I really don't understand how either, I mean Grown Ups 2 is just a repeat of every Adam Sandler movie with no new material and has critically been a bad movie holding only a 7% on RottenTomatoes.com. We as moviegoers always complain about Hollywood not having an original idea, well Pacific Rim is an ORIGINAL IDEA and people were complaining that it was too violent when all it is robots vs monsters. I mean the kids that grew up in the 70's would have died to see this movie back then and now that they are adults they've decided to shelter their kids and not let them see the movie. I can understand Despicable Me 2 beating Pacific Rim because it is an awesome movie, but taking the family to see Grown Ups 2 is the worst waste of money EVER!!!!!!
  2. Despicable Me 2 continues its Box Office success and is well on it's way to $300  million in the US.
  3. The Lone Ranger continues to be a huge bomb only making $71 million total in the US in 2 weeks and even with the international numbers it still will not break even with its $250 million budget.
  4. The Heat has shown that it is one of the best comedies of the year while bringing in an impressive $112 million on a $43 million budget.
  5. Kevin Hart's Stand-Up comedy movie Let Me Explain has made a pretty good chunk of change making $26 million while only having a $2.5 million budget.

So ladies and gentlemen what do you think of the box office, does anything surprise you, and what do you think of my little rant? Let me know in the comments and let your voice be heard

Pacific Rim Review

I watched Pacific Rim this weekend and here is my review

Pacific Rim FilmPoster.jpeg

Pacific Rim tells the story of giant monsters known as "Kaiju" that have risen from a portal in a crevasse beneath the Pacific Ocean, resulting in a war which takes the lives of millions and quickly consumes humanity's resources. To combat the monsters, a special type of weapon is designed: massive robots, known as Jaegers (which are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge). But as the war continues, even the Jaegers struggle to win the war against a relentless enemy. Against all odds, the remaining forces of mankind are forced to make one final stand. The film stars Charlie Hunnam, Idris Elba, Rinko Kikuchi, Charlie Day, Burn Gorman and Ron Perlman.

I thought the film was absolutely amazing. It was action packed from beginning to end, it had a wonderful and original plot, it had awesome character and story development, it had the right mix of emotion and comedy (especially when Perlman and Day are on screen together), Idris Elba gives an Oscar-worthy performance , we also get a breakout performance from Rinko Kikuchi. The film is a mix between Rock'em, Sock'em, Robots and Godzilla vs. King Kong, and the visual effects make the film worth to go see in 3D. Pacific Rim kept me on the edge of my seat and I give the film a 10 out of 10.

So ladies and gentlemen what did you think of Pacific Rim, have you seen it what would you give the film, and what do you think of my review? Let me know in the comments and let your voice be heard.

Pitch Perfect Review

I recently watched Pitch Perfect and here's my review

Promotional poster for film "Pitch Perfect".jpg

Pitch Perfect tells the story of all-girl a cappella group. The Barden Bellas, as they compete against another a cappella group from their college to win nationals. It is directed by Jason Moore and stars Anna Kendrick, Skylar Astin, Rebel Wilson, Anna Camp, Brittany Snow, Adam DeVine, Ben Platt, John Michael Higgins and Elizabeth Banks.

This movie is absolutely hilarious and Rebel Wilson's performance as Fat Amy is awesome and it steals the show. If Melissa McCarthy can get a Oscar nomination for Bridesmaids then Rebel Wilson deserved a nomination for Pitch Perfect. At first I thought the movie would have some funny parts but be be really boring,  but I actually had a good time and enjoyed the movie. The music kept me in the groove, John Michael Higgins and Elizabeth Banks give some pretty hilarious moments as the announcers of the singing competitions.I felt Anna Kendrick's performance as Beca was a little sluggish and some of the actors looked like they are trying a little too hard and some characters are really annoying and it brings the film down just a little bit, but not enough to ruin the movie, Pitch perfect is pretty predictable and its like Step-Up but with a better plot and better actors . With the financial and critical success Universal Studios green-lit the sequel back in April and Pitch Perfect 2 is set to be released sometime in 2015. With all of this being said I give this movie a 9 out of 10 and I recommend it to everyone.

So ladies and gentlemen what did you think of Pitch Perfect, have you seen it, did you enjoy it, what did you think of my review and what would you give Pitch Perfect? Let me know in the comments below and let your voice be heard.

3 Actors Who Need To Hit The Reset Button On Their Careers While They Still Can

Throughout film history there have been actors that bring us some great movies to start there careers and we think they are going to be big. Then what happens is that they do any movie they want and there careers start going down hill with some pretty terrible movies and make us wonder what happened to there careers? Well today I'm going to give you 3 actors that need to hit the reset button and go back to doing movies in which they gave their best performances. So without further ado here they are.................

        Adam Sandler
Adam Sandler 2011 (Cropped).jpg

We start off today with the Adam Sandler. Now we know that Sandler can be funny as he was once apart of Saturday Night Live and with such films as Billy Madison, Happy Gilmore, The Wedding Singer, and other movies. But too much comedy can be very boring to moviegoers, you sometimes need to change it up and go a dramatic route. Sandler has done this before by going from comedy to Punch Drunk Love (my favorite of his by the way) and Spanglish then back to comedy then to Reign Over me then comedy to Funny People (comedic-drama) to his present comedy gig. I feel that Sandler should flip all of this and he should do more dramatic roles because he's pretty good in them and maybe stick to being a producer in comedy films. In his dramatic roles he was considered an Oscar candidate in Punch Drunk Love and Reign Over Me. In his comedy films he is second in nominations at the Razzie Awards (worst movies of the year) for Worst Actor with 8 while winning 3. So my solution is more drama less comedy for Adam Sandler.

        Will Smith
Smith in a jolly mood

Now some of you are going to say that Will Smith doesn't need to be on this list. Well yes he does and I will tell you why. I will agree Smith has made some pretty good movies, but here recently he's been on a bit of a downhill slide. In reality his last good movie was The Pursuit of Happiness and ever since then his movies while they haven't been complete failures (except for After Earth) haven't been critically received well but most have been financial successes (Hancock and Seven Pounds) and some have had both good reception and good box offices (I Am Legend and Men In Black 3) but these films haven't been his best performances. I feel he should go back and do movies like Ali or The Pursuit of Happiness. Smith also needs to distance himself from his son Jaden, now I know that he wants his son to be successful and not turn out like a Miley Cyrus. My solution is that Will needs to let  Jaden has to grow up sometime and Will needs to get back to his Academy Award nominating performances.

        Johnny Depp
Johnny Depp 2, 2011.jpg

Yes I'm getting ready to pick on the Kentucky boy. Johnny Depp has given us some marvelous performances and has portrayed some pretty strange characters. Depp has shown his dramatic side in movies such as What's Eating Gilbert Grape, Donnie Brasco, Ed Wood and Finding Neverland. He has also shown us his crazy side in films such as The Pirates of The Caribbean franchise, Charlie and The Chocolate Factory, Alice in Wonderland, Dark Shadows and here recently The Lone Ranger. With all of this taken into consideration Depp has to stop being Jack Sparrow in every single movie he's in, each character he plays shows at least one quality of Jack Sparrow when he's not a Pirate. Depp like Sandler needs to get back to his dramatic roots. The guy does have acting chops and the ability to do other movies without having to play some silly character, he's been nominated for 2 Academy Awards for Best Actor (one of which was portraying Jack Sparrow in the first Pirates movie). My solution is that Depp needs to do more drama and needs to stop being Jack Sparrow in every single movie he his in.

So ladies and gentlemen what do you think about these actors, do they need to hit the reset button or are they just fine the way they are, and who are actors that you think need to hit the reset button? Let me know in the comments and let your voice be heard.

The Lone Ranger Review

The Lone Ranger was a radio series in the 30's and a TV series from 1949 to 1957. Its had a few small film adaptations, but it is now a major motion picture coming to us from Walt Disney and Jerry Bruckheimer. It stars Armie Hammer as John Reid/ The Lone Ranger and Johnny Depp as jack Sparrow (oops sorry I mean Tonto).  I watched the film over the 4th of July weekend and I'm going to bring you my review. So without further ado................

TheLoneRanger2013Poster.jpg

The film tells the story from Tonto's (Depp) perspective and it tells how John Reid (Hammer) became The Lone Ranger after his brother was murdered.

This movie is horrible and 'm going to give you my reasons

  1. The film was way too long. I mean the film could have went to maybe 1 hr 50 min or possibly 2 hrs but not 2 1/2 hours.
  2. The film had a lot of action, but the best action didn't even happen til the last 20 minutes of the film
  3. There was no need for Tonto explaining the story.
  4. Johnny Depp plays Jack Sparrow in the old west
I absolutely hated it, the jokes weren't funny and all of the pointless action really hurt my eyes and brain, but Armie Hammer does give a good performance in a bad movie (its not his the fault the film was awful) and the last action sequence was he best thing about the film so I give it a 3.5 out of 10.

So ladies and gentlemen what did you think of The Lone Ranger, did you like it or dislike it, and did you like or dislike my review? Let me know in the comment and let your voice be heard.

My Back to The Future Trilogy Review

As I write this on our country's Independence Day, I hope that you all were safe with fireworks and enjoyed time with your family's. I am also currently watching possibly one of the greatest and groundbreaking franchise's in film history, The Back to The Future Trilogy. With that being said i'm going to bring you my review of all three of them (I'm halfway through three so hopefully by the time I'm done with the blog the movie will be over). So without further ado here it is............

Back to The Future
The poster shows a teenaged boy coming out from a nearly invisible DeLorean with lines of fire trailing behind. The boy looks astonishingly at his wristwatch. The title of the film and the tagline "He was never in time for his classes... He wasn't in time for his dinner... Then one day... he wasn't in his time at all" appear at the extreme left of the poster, while the rating and the production credits appear at the bottom of the poster.

Contemporary high schooler Marty McFly (played by Michael J. Fox) doesn't have the most pleasant of lives. Browbeaten by his principal at school, Marty must also endure the acrimonious relationship between his nerdy father (played by Crispin Glover) and his lovely mother (played by Lea Thompson), who in turn suffer the bullying of middle-aged jerk Biff (played by Thomas F. Wilson), Marty's dad's supervisor. The one balm in Marty's life is his friendship with eccentric scientist Doc (played by Christopher Lloyd), who at present is working on a time machine. Accidentally zapped back into the 1950s, Marty inadvertently interferes with the budding romance of his now-teenaged parents. Our hero must now reunite his parents-to-be, lest he cease to exist in the 1980s. It won't be easy, especially with the loutish Biff, now also a teenager, complicating matters.

What can you say about this film that hasn't already been said. It is one of the greatest films of all-time and there's almost no way you can dispute that fact. The story is one of the more common ones that is told today, but this was the film to first do it. It has out standing performances from both Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd (who I contend should've been nominated for and Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor). The music both in the present setting and the past setting are just fantastic and they both fit the times. It has the best visual effects for a film that came out in the 1980's and it's just a prefect film. The comedy in the film is top notch and their a lot of quotes in the film that are still used in our pop culture to this day and the only films that can do that are the all-time classics. Overall this is a quintessential classic film that everyone needs to see before they die and it's just that simple. I give Back to the Future a 10 out of 10.

Back to The Future Part 2
Back to the Future Part II.jpg

Things have barely settled from the excitement and resolve of the original Back to the Future, when in pops that crazy inventor Dr. Emmett Brown (played by Christopher Lloyd) with news that in order to prevent a series of events that could ruin the McFly name for posterity, Marty McFly (played by Michael J. Fox ) and his girlfriend are whisked into the future to the year 2015, where Marty must tangle with a teen rogue named Griff, who's obviously the descendant of Biff, the first Future film's bully. Marty foils Griff and his group when he jumps on an air-foil skateboard that flies him through town at rakish speeds with the loser bullies beaten again. Marty gets a money-making brainstorm before hopping in the time-traveling DeLorean, and he purchases a sports almanac. He figures that back in 1985 he'll be able to place sure-fire bets using the published sports scores of the games that are yet to happen. Unfortunately for Marty, Dr. Brown disapproves of his betting scheme -- he feels too much messing with time is very dangerous -- and he tosses the almanac. A hidden Biff overhears the discussion about the almanac, sees it get tossed out, and grabs it. Thus begins a time-traveling swirl to make the head spin. Biff swipes the DeLorean, heads back to 1955, and with the help of the unerring almanac, bets his way to power. The now-altered "Biff world" has turned into a nightmarish scene with Biff the mogul, residing in a Vegas-styled pleasure palace and running everything. It's all our hero Marty can do to pull the pieces together this time, as he must jump between three generations of intertwined time travel.

This is a brilliant film. Now let me say this, the rating I give for this film will be less than the first film, but this is my favorite film of the trilogy. It presents us as the audience with an interesting look at what people in 1985 thought 2015 would look like (they were really wrong) and it gives a lot of amazing visual effects. The humor in the film isn't as strong as the first film and that's a big letdown, but the bar was set pretty high. Christopher Lloyd is once again the thing that keeps the film moving. When he's offscreen it just feels as if the magic in the entire film is gone. The film film also goes at a rapid pace and it just seems to move from set piece to set piece. The film doesn't quite have as good of a story as the first film. Let's just be perfectly honest, it was an uphill battle for this film from the moment go because you having to follow what is easily one of the greatest films of all-time. Overall this film would be a fantastic film if if weren't trying to fill some pretty big shoes. I give Back to the Future Part II a 7.5 out of 10.

Back to The Future Part 3
Back to the Future Part III.jpg

The final installment in the Back to the Future trilogy picks up where the second film left off, but it casts off the dizzying time travel of the first two films for mostly routine comedy set in the Old West. Marty McFly (played by Michael J. Fox) receives a 70-year-old letter from his inventor friend, Doc Brown (played by Christopher Lloyd), who tells Marty that he has retreated a century in time to live out a relatively quiet life in the Old West. Doc Brown reveals that he hid his DeLorean car/time machine in an abandoned mine outside town, and when Marty does some research and discovers that the Doc died shortly after writing the letter, he decides to find the car, travel back in time, and warn the Doc about his demise. Meanwhile, the Doc, who has fallen in love with a local woman (played by Mary Steenburgen), realizes he can't hide in the past from the problems he has caused to the time flow in the previous two adventures. He reluctantly decides to return to the present with Marty, but first, they have to find a way to get the DeLorean up to time-travel velocity with a broken fuel line and no gasoline.

This is possibly the worst in the franchise, but it's still good. There isn't much action in the film like there was in the previous two films and it can be boring at times, but the story is a little bit better. The addition of Mary Steenburgen is great and she brings a little bit of life to the film as we see the love story between her and Doc Brown develop. Speaking of Doc Brown, Christopher Lloyd continues to carry this franchise with the various facial expressions, the comedic timing and the physical humor as well. The visual effects are outstanding in this film as it is in the entire franchise. Some of the dialogue feels mailed in and cheesy with a lot of pop culture references that just seem really out of place. It does however tie up a lot of loose ends that were hanging around after the previous two films, but it's just not enough. Overall this film is simple, but just to simple to build upon the other two films in the franchise. I give Back to the Future Part III a 7 out of 10.

Overall Franchise Rating: 8 out of 10

So ladies and gentlemen what do you think of the Back to The Future trilogy , what do you think of my review and which film in the trilogy is your favorite? Let me know in the comments and let your voice be heard.

Rush movie poster.jpg

Rush comes to us from Academy Award winning director Ron Howard and Stars Chris Hemsworth, Daniel Bruhl, and Olivia Wilde. After a near fatal crash that leaves him with severe burns to his face Lauda (Bruhl) returns after just six weeks (two races) to come back and compete for the championship.   9. The Hunger Games: Catching Fire
THG-CF Theatrical Poster.jpg

Catching Fire is the 2nd book in the Hunger Games series and will be the 2nd film out of 4 films in the franchise. After winning the 74th Annual Hunger Games Katniss Everdeen (played by Jennifer Lawrence) and Peeta Mellark (played by Josh Hutcherson) return home to District 12. However they must embark on a "Victory Tour" to all of the other districts, leaving behind their close friends and family. The day of the tour, President Snow (played by Donald Sutherland) threatens Katniss's best friend and pretend cousin Gale Hawthorne (played by Liam Hemsworth). During the tour, Katniss senses that rebellion is brewing in the districts, but the capitol is still firmly in control as the world prepares for the 75th Annual Hunger Games (known as a Quarter Quell), a competition that could change Panem forever. I personally loved the first movie and I'm really excited for this installment as well. The Hunger Games: Catching Fire hits theaters on November 22nd and is rated PG-13.

  8. Pacific Rim
Pacific Rim FilmPoster.jpeg

Giant robots vs. giant monsters, count me in. Pacific Rim comes to us from Guillermo del Toro (director of the Hellboy series) and is set in the near future, as giant monsters known as "Kaiju" have risen from a portal in a crevasse beneath the Pacific Ocean, resulting in a war which takes the lives of millions and quickly consumes humanity's resources. I expect this movie to great and very action packed. Pacific Rim hits theaters on July 12th and is rated PG-13.

  7. Don Jon
Don Jon Poster.jpg

This movie sounds really interesting and the film already has received great reviews at The Sundance Film Festival. Jon Martello (played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt) is a modern day Don Juan who objectifies everything in his life, especially woman. His friends call him Don Jon because of his ability to pull in very gorgeous women (or 10's) every weekend without fail. But his addiction to porn has made him dissatisfied with life and he sets out on a journey to find a more gratifying sex life. However, he ends up seeing the bigger picture and learning more about life and love through two different woman (played by Scarlett Johansson and Julianne Moore). This is the directorial debut of Gordon-Levitt and this looks to be  the start of a successful career behind the camera as well as receiving some potential Oscar Buzz. Don Jon hits theaters on September 27th and is rated R

  6. Kick-Ass 2
KA2-International-Poster.jpg

The first film was awesome and now you add Jim Carrey to mix, you have to count me in. Inspired by Kick-Ass (played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson), other masked heroes appear. One such, Colonel Stars and Stripes (played by Jim Carrey), forms a team and Kick-Ass joins them on patrol, while Hit-Girl (played by Chloe Grace Moretz) "retires", and tries to have a normal life. Meanwhile Red Mist (played by Christopher Mintz Plasse) "reborn as The Mother F***er" returns to play supervillian with his army and seeks to exact revenge on Kick-Ass for his father's death. This film looks to be really funny and i'm excited for it. Kick-Ass 2 hits theaters on August 14th and is rated R.

  5. Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues
Anchorman 2 Teaser Poster.jpg

Finally the long awaited sequel to Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgandy is coming to the big screen. After the 1970's brought prosperity to the Channel 4 News Team, the group disbands and hits rock bottom until a 24-hour news channel is being put togehter and the group has been recruited to join the channel. All of the main cast returns for this sequel and Kristen Wiig has joined the main cast as well. The first film is one of my top comedies of all-time and I have been very impatient for this sequel to arrive. Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues hits theaters on December 20th and is rated R

4. The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug
The Hobbit - The Desolation of Smaug Teaser Poster.jpg

After the success of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug looks to join the billion dollar club. The film continues the adventure of Bilbo Baggins (played by Martin Freeman) as he journeys with the wizard Gandalf (played by Ian Mckellen) and thirteen dwarves, led by Thorin Oakensheild (played by Richard Armitage) on their epic quest to reclaim the lost dwarf kingdom of Erebor. Benedict Cumberbatch also joins the cast as the dragon Smaug. I'm excited to see where Peter Jackson takes us this time and I hope it lives up to The Lord of The Rings trilogy. The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug hits theaters on December 13th and is rated PG-13.

  3. The Wolverine
Wolverine-Film-Teaser.jpg

After a disappointing and awful prequel film , Wolverine returns to action in this sequel to the X-Men trilogy. Some time after the events of X-Men: The Last Stand, Wolverine/Logan (played by Hugh Jackman) travels to Japan where he engages a figure from his past in a fight that has lasting consequences. Vulnerable for the first time, and pushed to his physical and emotional limits, he confronts not only lethal samurai steel, but also struggles against his own immortality emerging more powerful than ever before. I'm really excited to see Wolverine in a really good stand alone movie and this will not be the last time we see Jackman playing Wolverine as he will be reprising his famous role in the upcoming X-Men: Days of Future Past. The Wolverine hit theaters on July 24th and is rated PG-13.

  2. The Wolf of Wall Street
The Wolf of Wall Street (2013) Poster

Leonardo DiCaprio and Martin Scorsese team up again in what looks to be an early contender for a numerous amount of Academy Award nominations and wins. The Wolf of Wall Street is based on the True story of Jordan Belfort (played by Leonardo DiCaprio), a New York stockbroker who served 20 months in prison for refusing to cooperate in a massive 1990's securities fraud case that involved widespread corruption on Wall Street and in the corporate banking world, included mob infiltration.  This film has an all-star cast which includes Jonah Hill and Matthew McConaughey. The Wolf of Wall Street hits theaters on November 13th and is rated R.

  1. Thor: The Dark World
Thor - The Dark World poster.jpg

Marvel is at it again bringing us the 2nd movie in their Phase 2 plans all leading to The Avengers 2. Set one year after The Avengers, Thor battles to save the Nine Realms from a mysterious enemy older than the universe itself. A primeval race known as The Dark Elves who are led by Malekith (played by Christopher Eccleston), who is out for revenge, intends to plunge the universe into darkness. Confronted by an enemy that even Odin (played by Anthony Hopkins) and Asgard cannot overcome, Thor (played by Chris Hemsworth) must reunite with Jane Foster (played by Natalie Portman) and set out on a dangerous journey that will force him to make the ultimate sacrifice. This film looks amazing and Marvel is just going to keep on dominating the competition and I believe it will be the best Marvel Phase 2 film. Thor: The Dark World hits theaters on November 8th and is rated PG-13.

My Top 10 Worst Movies of the First Half of 2013

There have been some great movies so far that have exceeded everyone's expectations. But there have also been some pretty bad movies that were just plain awful and make us scratch our heads wondering why they were even made. So with that being said I'm going to bring you my top list of the worst movies of 2013 so far.

        10. The Purge-
The Purge poster.jpg

When I first heard of the movie I thought that it could be an interesting movie and one that I would really enjoy, boy was I wrong. Now don't get me wrong the concept of having all laws being legal for 12 hours for one day out of the year is pretty scary to think about happening, but then I found out the movie mainly focused on one family instead of the purge itself I immediately knew that the movie was going to be awful. I'm not the only one that says this, it has a 38% rating on rottentomatoes.com (the most credible rating website in the world). The writers took an interesting premise and made it into a really crappy slasher horror film.  Even though most critics hated it the movie has made $61.2 Million on a $3 million budget, and Universal Studios has already green lit a sequel in which I hope they focus more on The Purge itself instead of one family.

      9. G.I Joe Retaliation-
G.I. JOE Retaliation.jpg

This film is a sequel to the 2009's G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra. I loved the first film and though it was a good adaptation of G.I. Joe, but I immediately started to hat this movie within the first 30 minutes for one reason they kill off Duke (played by Channing Tatum) who was the best part of the first film within the first 30 minutes of the movie . I mean why kill off the main character of the first film when you could have killed off General Hawk (payed by Dennis Quaid in the first film) or why not kill off Ripcord (played by Marlon Waynes in the first film). The movie could have decent had they made Duke hellbent on revenge that he joins a new team of Joes and help destroy Cobra but no you kill Duke within 30 minutes of the film. Not only did I not like the film,  it has a 28% rating on rottentomatoes.com.

      8. Identity Thief-
Identity Thief Poster.jpg

Watch Planes ,Trains and Automobiles and Due Date (which are two way funnier movies that this pile of crap) if you want to see a movie about two people not wanting to be togehter on a road trip. All of the funny parts are in the trailer. The film has a 20% rating on rottentomatoes.com.

      7. White House Down-
White House Down Theatrical Poster.jpg

Watch Olympus Has Fallen for a better film abut a white house takeover. the film does however a 50% rating on rottentomatoes.com.

      6. Evil Dead-
EvilDead2013Poster.jpg

The original Evil Dead is on of my top 5 horror movies of all-time, but this remake fails in every way. The movie makes the characters look dumb and its like the writer of this movie just wanted to gross people out instead of really putting frightening images into our head that can last a lifetime. The film however does a 62% rating on rottentomatoes.com.

      5. The Great Gatsby-
TheGreatGatsby2012Poster.jpg

Now most of you all are going to hate me for putting this movie on this list and I can possibly understand why. For me the film felt really dull, the visual effects were completely overused and the felt longer than it should have been. The film got really annoying with Leonardo DiCaprio saying old-sport at least 250 times and also it did not need to be in 3D. I prefer the 1974 film version of the book. However the film has a 50% rating on rottentomatoes.com.

      4. The Internship-
The-internship-poster.jpg

Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson are not funny at all, they haven't made a good movie since Wedding Crashers, the one liners are stupid, and the movie is just a complete ad for Google that lasts for an hour and a half. The film has  34% rating on rottentomatoes.com.

      3. Scary Movie 5-
ScaryMovie5.jpg

This film series should have stopped after Scary Movie 2 and 100% should have ended with Scary Movie 3. The film doesn't even feel like a Scary Movie film without Anna Farris playing the lead character, but we instead get Ashley Tisdale and thats about it. the film has a glorious 4% rating on rottentomatoes.com.

                                        I

      2. Movie 43-
Movie 43 poster.jpg

A film about a bunch of sketch comedies that make absolutely no sense and it has a bunch of really talented A-List actors that did the movie just for a paycheck. The film has a 4% rating on rottentomatoes.com and has been considered universally the worst movie that has ever been made.

      1. After Earth-
After Earth Poster.jpg

Ah another failed Will Smith movie. Will Smith literally only did this film because he wanted his son to become a big time star with this movie and it failed miserably in that respect. Me personally I have not been able to stand Will Smith for a while. I mean the last movie I really enjoyed with him in it was The Pursuit of Happiness and all of his films before that (except for Men In Black 2) but every movie after The Pursuit of Happiness has been a complete load of garbage and films that should not have been made. I also know that Will wants to make sure his son doesn't go off the deep end and ruin his career (like Miley Cyrus has done). But at some point Will is going to have to let his son go and be a successful actor on his own. Back to the movie it felt dull and it doesn't even feel like a survival movie at all and plus the film has the joy of working with such a wonderful (SARCASM) director M.Nigh Shyamalan ( who did actually bring us a good movie called The Sixth Sense). The film has an 11% rating on rottentomatoes.com.

So ladies and gentlemen what do you think of the list, do you agree or disagree, and what are your least favorite movies of 2013 so far? Let me know in the comments and let your voice be heard.
