12-10-14 Movie News

Hello ladies and gentlemen, here is some movie news with some of my thoughts and opinions (which will be in BOLD print). So without further ado...

(NOTE: All of these stories come from comingsoon.net)

It was back in October that we got our first look at the world and characters of Disney•Pixar’s Inside Out with the debut of a teaser trailer. Now, a full trailer has arrived, inviting moviegoers to enter to mind of a young girl with an adventure comedy directed by Pete Docter (Monsters, Inc., Up) and starring Amy Poehler (“Parks and Recreation,” They Came Together), Bill Hader (“Saturday Night Live,” Superbad), Lewis Black (“The Daily Show,” “Root of All Evil”), Mindy Kaling (“The Office,” “The Mindy Project”), Phyllis (“The Office,” Bad Teacher), Diane Lane (Secretariat, Man of Steel) and Kyle MacLachlan (“Twin Peaks,” “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.”) and you can check it out below. Set inside the mind of an 11-year-old named Riley, Inside Out knows that growing up can be a bumpy road. It’s no exception for Riley, who is uprooted from her Midwest life when her father starts a new job in San Francisco. Like all of us, Riley is guided by her emotions – Joy (Poehler), Fear (Hader), Anger (Black), Disgust (Kaling) and Sadness (Smith). The emotions live in Headquarters, the control center inside Riley’s mind, where they help advise her through everyday life. As Riley and her emotions struggle to adjust to a new life in San Francisco, turmoil ensues in Headquarters. Although Joy, Riley’s main and most important emotion, tries to keep things positive, the emotions conflict on how best to navigate a new city, house and school. Inside Out opens in theaters on June 19, 2015.

This was a great trailer. It really gave us an inside (no pun intended) look at what the film will be like, but it didn't give to much away. I've been saying this from the day I first heard about the film that this has a great shot to win Best Picture next year and I firmly believe that. The trailer looks great and I cannot wait to see the film.

Warner Bros. Pictures has debuted the new trailer for the upcoming Max Max: Fury Road which you can check out below. Mad Max: Fury Road is the fourth film of George Miller’s Road Warrior/Mad Max franchise and is co-written and directed by Miller. The post-apocalyptic action film is set in the furthest reaches of our planet, in a stark desert landscape where humanity is broken, and most everyone is crazed fighting for the necessities of life. Within this world of fire and blood exist two rebels on the run who just might be able to restore order. There’s Max (Tom Hardy), a man of action and a man of few words, who seeks peace of mind following the loss of his wife and child in the aftermath of the chaos and Furiosa (Charlize Theron), a woman of action and a woman who believes her path to survival may be achieved if she can make it across the desert back to her childhood homeland. Also starring Nicholas Hoult, Hugh Keays-Byrne, Nathan Jones, Zoe Kravitz, Riley Keough, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Mad Max: Fury Road opens in 2D and 3D theaters on May 15, 2015.

This was an awesome trailer. It was a lot more intense than the first film and it really gave a great look at the film. After this trailer I don't need to see anything more from the film because I am completely sold on it. This film really hearkens back to the original film and I cannot wait to see this new installment.

Paramount Pictures and MGM have debuted a new trailer and poster for Hot Tub Time Machine 2 and you can check them out below. In the sequel, when Lou (Rob Corddry) finds himself in trouble, Nick (Craig Robinson) and Jacob (Clark Duke) fire up the hot tub time machine in an attempt to get back to the past. But they inadvertently land in the future. Now they have to alter the future in order to save the past….which is really the present. Directed by Steve Pink, Hot Tub Time Machine 2 opens on February 20, 2015 and also stars Adam Scott, Chevy Chase and Gillian Jacobs.

This trailer was absolutely hilarious. It's great to see these three stars back on the big screen once again and I'm really curious to see where this film goes. I'm really disappointed however in the fact that John Cusack isn't in the film, but I think that Adam Scott will do a great job filling his shoes. I really enjoyed the first film and I cannot wait to see this film.

Just two weeks after the trailer debuted, Warner Bros. has announced the release date for Joe Wright’s upcoming prequel film Pan has shifted from July 17, 2015, where it was going head-to-head against Marvel Studios’ upcoming Ant-Man, to July 24, 2015, where it will face Sony’s Pixels, Fox’s Poltergeist remake, and Universal’s Judd Apatow-directed Trainwreck. Offering a new take on the origin of the classic characters created by J.M. Barrie, Pan follows the story of an orphan who is spirited away to the magical Neverland. There, he finds both fun and dangers, and ultimately discovers his destiny-to become the hero who will be forever known as Peter Pan. Warner Bros.’ blockbuster fantasy Pan stars Hugh Jackman, Garrett Hedlund, Nonso Anozie, Amanda Seyfried, Rooney Mara, Adeel Akhtar and Levi Miller

This is a really smart idea on the part of Warner Bros.. I mean don't get me wrong Pan will probably do great at the box office, but it won't do great against Ant-Man. Ant-Man is a Marvel film and it's pretty unknown to the general public (like Guardians of the Galaxy) and it right now it has a lot going for it and it will probably dominate the box office on it's opening weekend. Pan looks great and its competition includes Pixels. The Poltergeist remake and Trainwrecked so it's competition is less competitive and I can't wait to see the film.

It sounds like Bridesmaids and Pitch Perfect star Rebel Wilson may be getting ready to strap on a proton pack. Today had the chance to chat with the actress, who appears in next week’s Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb, and learned that Wilson has been approached for a role in Paul Feig’s all-female Ghostbusters reboot. “I have had a meeting,” Wilson reveals. “But who knows? They will have to look at the script when it’s finished… I’d do that for free. I probably shouldn’t say that live on TV.” Rumors surrounding a third Ghostbusters have been around for years, although things appear to finally be in motion with Feig claiming back in October that his take is a “total reboot” and hinting that he also has a few key cast members in mind. Back in September, original Ghostbusters star Bill Murray revealed his own “fan cast” for a female-driven franchise reboot, listing Melissa McCarthy (Bridesmaids, Tammy), Kristen Wiig (Bridesmaids, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty), Linda Cardinelli (“Freaks and Geeks,” “Mad Men”) and Emma Stone (The Help, The Amazing Spider-Man) as his top choices. Wilson can next be seen reprising her role as Fat Amy in the Elizabeth Banks-helmed Pitch Perfect 2, set to hit theaters May 15, 2015.

I'm not surprised by these comments. Rebel Wilson is one of the funniest actresses on the planet and I think that if you do a female Ghostbusters film then I think she needs to be in it. I still honestly don't know how I feel about this idea so I'll have to see a trailer to begin to judge it.
