My Review of Murder on the Orient Express

So I recently watched Murder on the Orient Express and I'm here to bring you my review. So without further ado...

Murder on the Orient Express teaser poster.jpg

A lavish trip through Europe quickly unfolds into a race against time to solve a murder aboard a train. When an avalanche stops the Orient Express dead in its tracks, the world's greatest detective -- Hercule Poirot (played by Kenneth Branagh)-- arrives to interrogate all passengers and search for clues before the killer can strike again.

This is a film that had a lot of potential, but it never quite lives up to it. This story has been told several times since the novel was released back in 1934 and the mot notable adaptation was released in 1974 and this film follows the same plot as that film and the book which just doesn't work. Now some of you will questions why it doesn't work and it's because in this in age you have to be different and possibly changing around a few changes to help keep the audiences on their toes and not make things seem so predictable. The film is loaded with a lot of talent with numerous Academy Award winners, nominees and young stars in the making and while some of those actors get a lot of screen time, some of them barely get any screen time for you to even notice they are in the film. For the ones you do see on screen a lot, they each give pretty decent performances, but in the back of your mind you wish you could see the other actors in the film. Visually the film looks stunning which is something you often wouldn't say about a film that mainly takes place on train, but the look and the feel of the environment really make you feel as if you with them in each scene. Overall this film has a great cast but most aren't used enough, the film has a pretty good plot, but it does nothing to differ it from previous versions of the story, it does have some nice visuals, but it's not that hard to do when you basically have only one set to use. I give Murder on the Orient Express a 4 out of 10.

\        So ladies and gentlemen what did you think of Murder on the Orient Express, what would you rate it and what did you think of my review? Let me know in the comments section below and let your voice be heard.

My Review of Justice League

So I recently watched Justice League and I'm here to bring you my review. So without further ado...

Justice League film poster.jpg

Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman's selfless act, Bruce Wayne (played by Ben Affleck) enlists newfound ally Diana Prince (played by Gal Gadot) to face an even greater threat. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to recruit a team to stand against this newly awakened enemy. Despite the formation of an unprecedented league of heroes -- Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman (played by Jason Momoa), Cyborg (played by Ray Fisher) and the Flash (played by Ezra Miller) -- it may be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.

This is a film that had a lot of hype, but it doesn't fully live up to it. The DCEU has been a topic of conversation in film circles for the better part of it's 4 year run and it's come with both praise and criticisms both deserved and undeserved. This film is possibly one of the most divisive films to date for a lot of reasons, but this review will tend to air on the positive side of things. First off seeing all of these characters on screen together has been a long process in the making so hats off to Warner Bros. for making this happen. All of the performances in the film are pretty spectacular and each character is given a moment to shine in the film. However some characters aren't developed as well as others and while you do feel a small connection, you don't feel a big enough one to other characters to care enough about them when something happens to them. One of the big sticking points of the DCEU is that the entire franchise has had such a dark a bruiting tone where everything is taken way too seriously and in each film since Man of Steel, they've added bits and pieces of comedy to lighten the mood. In this film however, they turn the comedy level all the way up to 11 and while that is fine and dandy, you can't just add in a lot of comedy after the entire universe has been so dark in previous films. While there is just a little too much comedy, there are some jokes that are really good and do make you laugh quite a bit. Visually the film has a lot of good things in the sense that the color tone of each scene is lighter and it doesn't really change how each scene is perceived or plays out. However there are lot of problems visually that are pretty glaring and it's hard to not notice each little thing when they stick out like a sore thumb. Villain wise,  Steppenwolf isn't all that great in the sense that nothing about him is explained other than a little scene showing his first encounter on Earth, but outside of that we really don't get a massive motivation for him to be in the film. Overall this film has a lot of good things and it shows the DCEU is making progress, but it still lacks in overall storytelling and giving us a reason to really care about these characters. I give Justice League a 6 out of 10.

1. Coco took over the number one spot at box office with very solid opening, but for Pixar films it had the 15th highest opening weekend out of 19 films.
2. Although Justice League had a poor opening weekend, its second weekend fared much better and now worldwide it sits $482 Million, but it still needs to make $270 Million more to break even.
3. Overall this was a fantastic weekend at the box office and what's even more impressive that films like Daddy's Home 2 and Murder on the Orient Express feel by 8.4% and 4.6% respectively.
4. The biggest loser of the weekend was Justice League as it made 56.2% less than it did last weekend and the biggest winner of the weekend was Roman J. Israel, Esq. as it mad 7,027.8% more than it did last weekend.
5. I went 5 for 5 on my predictions.

Predictions
1. Coco $28 Million
2. Justice League $19 Million
3. Wonder $12 Million
4. Thor: Ragnarok $9 Million
5. Daddy's Home 2 $6 Million
