My Review of Hotel Transylvania 2

So I recently watched Hotel Transylvania 2 and I'm here to bring you my review. So without further ado...

Hotel Transylvania 2 poster.jpg

The film takes place seven years after the first film, with the hotel now open to human guests. Mavis (voiced by Selena Gomez) and Johnny (voiced by Andy Samberg) have a young son named Dennis (voiced by Asher Blinkoff), whose lack of any vampire abilities worries his grandfather Dracula (voiced by Adam Sandler). When Mavis and Johnny go on a visit to Johnny's parents, Dracula calls his friends to help him make Dennis a vampire. However, an unexpected visit from Dracula's old-school human-hating father, Vlad (voiced by Mel Brooks) soon turns things upside-down.

This is an absolutely terrible film. Adam Sandler has been on a bit of a dry spell for the last 8 years and he has pretty much become the laughingstock of Hollywood and he continues that trend with this film. Animated films aren't mean for everyone, but you have to still at least make them enjoyable enough for people have a decent time with the film and you don't get the experience with this film. The film tries way too hard to be funny and it uses a lot of jokes that have been used in previous film or jokes that have just become old and tired. Adam Sandler uses the most annoying voice for Dracula and it's something that he used back in the mid 90's before he was kicked off of SNL. All Adam Sandler movies are for is for him to do a film with a bunch of his buddies and make jokes that are only funny to them and brainwash gullible people who fall for it every time. Overall this a terrible film with no plot, no good jokes and just an absolutely terrible film experience. I give Hotel Transylvania 2 a 0 of 10.

So ladies and gentlemen what did you think of Hotel Transylvania 2, what would you rate it and what did you think of my review? Let me know in the comments section below and let your voice be heard.

9-29-15 Movie News

Hello ladies and gentlemen, here is some movie news with some of my thoughts and opinions (which will be in BOLD print). So without further ado...

(NOTE: All of these stories come from comingsoon.net)

Zack Snyder’s upcoming Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice has today received its official MPAA rating. According to the association, the Batman v Superman rating will be a PG-13 for “intense sequences of violence and action throughout, and some sensuality”.  A PG-13 Batman v Superman rating is not necessarily a surprising answer. Every Batman film since Tim Burton’s 1989 version has been given a PG-13, as have both Bryan Singer’s Superman Returns and Snyder’s own Man of Steel. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice stars Henry Cavill in the role of Clark Kent/Superman, and Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne/Batman. The film also stars Gal Gadot as Diana Prince/Wonder Woman, with Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane returning from Man of Steel, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Jeremy Irons as Alfred, and Holly Hunter in a role newly created for the film. Jason Momoa will also be making an appearance as Aquaman. Fearing the actions of a god-like Super Hero left unchecked, Gotham City’s own formidable, forceful vigilante takes on Metropolis’s most revered, modern-day savior, while the world wrestles with what sort of hero it really needs. And with Batman and Superman at war with one another, a new threat quickly arises, putting mankind in greater danger than it’s ever known before. Directed by Zack Snyder, written by Chris Terrio, from a screenplay by David S. Goyer, Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice is produced by Charles Roven and Deborah Snyder with Benjamin Melniker, Michael E. Uslan, Wesley Coller, David S. Goyer and Geoff Johns serving as executive producers. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is set to open worldwide on March 25, 2016.

Does this rating really surprise anyone. I mean it shouldn't because just about every comic book film is rated R with the exception of a few films (Blade, Daredevil, The Punisher and Deadpool). If this film was rated anything other than PG-13 then I would be shocked or a little more excited because seeing an R rated Batman vs. Superman film would be amazing. Now that the rating has been issued I can now know what to expect and it just the makes the film seem so much more real and I cannot wait to see this film. March can not come soon enough.

20th Century Fox has released the new trailer for The Revenant. Opening in limited theaters on Christmas Day, the action adventure expands wide on January 8, 2016. Check out The Revenant trailer below. Inspired by true events, The Revenant is an immersive and visceral cinematic experience capturing one man’s epic adventure of survival and the extraordinary power of the human spirit. In an expedition of the uncharted American wilderness, legendary explorer Hugh Glass (Leonardo DiCaprio) is brutally attacked by a bear and left for dead by members of his own hunting team. In a quest to survive, Glass endures unimaginable grief as well as the betrayal of his confidant John Fitzgerald (Tom Hardy). Guided by sheer will and the love of his family, Glass must navigate a vicious winter in a relentless pursuit to live and find redemption. The Revenant is directed and co-written by renowned filmmaker, Academy Award winner Alejandro G. Iñárritu (Birdman, Babel). Also starring Domhnall Gleeson and Will Poulter, the film is based on the novel by Michael Punke. Mark Smith and Iñárritu wrote the script for the movie, produced by Arnon Milchan, Steve Golin, David Kanter, Keith Redmon, and Iñárritu.

This is such a fantastic trailer. From the moment I heard about this film I immediately got excited simply because of everyone involved with the film. The film looks absolutely beautiful and it seems like that we'll see a lot of action mixed with some great dramatic scenes. Look I've said this confidently before and this trailer backs it up, I honestly think that Leonardo DiCaprio will finally win his Oscar and if he doesn't then I don't know when he will ever win one. I'm excited to see this film and hopefully my expectations are met.

There’s some very good news today for fans of Guillermo del Toro‘s epic Kaiju showdown, Pacific Rim. Last month, it was reported that the Pacific Rim sequel had been removed from Legendary‘s schedule of upcoming films. Today, Universal Pictures has clarified the change with an official statement. “Legendary’s ‘Pacific Rim 2,’ originally scheduled for release on August 4, 2017, will be redated at a later time,” it reads. “The filmmakers, Legendary and Universal Pictures are committed to having ‘Pacific Rim 2,’ the sequel to 2013’s ‘Pacific Rim,’ which generated more $411 million at the global box office, be the vanguard, fully-immersive experience that the franchise deserves. To this end, the decision was made to delay the production and release of ‘Pacific Rim’ so that the creative team can continue in its efforts to exceed the amazing experience of the first film.” Taking the place of the Pacific Rim sequel will be Pitch Perfect 3, originally planned for release on July 21, 2017. Anna Kendrick and Rebel Wilson are already confirmed to headline the returning cast with writer Kay Cannon returning to the team to pen the next chapter. Pitch Perfect 3, currently the only major release scheduled for August 4, 2017, will be produced by series fixtures Paul Brooks of Gold Circle Entertainment and Max Handelman & Elizabeth Banks of Brownstone Productions. The Pacific Rim sequel, then, will offer the follow-up to Guillermo del Toro’s 2013 epic action-adventure, with a script penned by del Toro, Jon Spaihts (Passengers, Prometheus) and Travis Beacham. Universal Pictures will release the film worldwide in 3D and IMAX. Pacific Rim hit theaters in summer 2013 and grossed just $101 million at the domestic box office but went on to take in over $400 million worldwide. The film starred Charlie Hunnam, Idris Elba, Rinko Kikuchi, Charlie Day, Robert Kazinsky, Max Martini, and Ron Perlman.

I'm a little indifferent bout the news. On one hand I'm glad it is still happening because after seeing the first film, there is a lot more story to tell with these characters and so many more great battles in the future. On the other hand I'm a little bummed that it's been pulled from the schedule and if this film gets moved back any farther, then the original film will start to go out of people's minds and what little momentum you had is now almost gone. I do however like the move for Pitch Perfect 3 because it moves it to a date that is currently unoccupied, not competition is currently coming out after the film and it gets you away from the previously announced and untitled Christopher Nolan film which will certainly make a lot of money. As I said before I hope Pacific Rim 2 can get an early 2017 release date that way I don't have to wait 5 or 6 years for a sequel.

It has been over five years since we reported any significant movement on Walt Disney Pictures’ proposed Enchanted sequel, but now Collider brings word that interest in renewing the (potential) franchise has picked up at the Mouse House and what was formerly referred to as Enchanted 2 has a new working title: Disenchanted. Right from the title, we can imagine that the “ever after” part of “happily ever after” isn’t quite working out for fairy tale princess Giselle (Amy Adams) and her earthly beau Robert (Patrick Dempsey), although no plot details have been revealed. We do know that Anne Fletcher (The Proposal, Hot Pursuit) is still attached to direct Disenchanted, although the script initially penned by Jessie Nelson (Fred Claus) is getting an overhaul before Disney gives it the greenlight. Barry Josephson and Barry Sonnenfeld are expected to again produce. The original animated/live-action hybrid, made for about $85 million, earned an impressive $340.5 million worldwide. $127.8 million of that came from North America and $212.7 million from overseas. Kevin Lima directed the movie from a script by Bill Kelly. It starred Amy Adams, Patrick Dempsey, James Marsden, Timothy Spall, Idina Menzel, Rachel Covey and Susan Sarandon.

This is pretty interesting news to hear. I say that because I kinda enjoyed the first film and I never thought a sequel was going to happen or needed to happen. The first film had a really natural feel to it because it was about a princess and Disney has made it's name based on princesses over the past 70 years. After seeing the film I didn't really think a sequel was necessary, but money talks and the first film made enough to warrant a sequel. hopefully the sequel can be just as good as the first film and I'd really like to see the original cast return for this film.

Matthew Vaughn (Kingsman: The Secret Service, X-Men: First Class) has signed on to direct Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures’ feature film adaptation of Terry Hayes’ international bestselling espionage thriller I Am Pilgrim, it was announced today by Jonathan Glickman, MGM’s President, Motion Picture Group. Vaughn will also produce and co-finance through his Marv Films. Lloyd Braun is also producing through his Whalerock Industries with Andrew Mittman serving as executive producer. Hayes, former journalist and award-winning screenwriter (Payback, Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior and Dead Calm) is adapting his novel for the screen. Production is scheduled to begin in 2016. “Pilgrim” is the codename for a man who doesn’t exist. The adopted son of a wealthy American family, he once headed up a secret espionage unit for US intelligence. Now in anonymous retirement, he is called upon to lend his expertise to an unusual investigation but ultimately becomes caught in a terrifying race-against-time to save America from oblivion. Beyond becoming a reader and bookseller favorite, I Am Pilgrim was THE summer thriller of 2014, appearing as a top choice in summer round-ups all over the country, hitting the New York Times Best Seller list, and spending four weeks as a Los Angeles Times bestseller. Translated in over 30 languages, the novel has also been a massive bestseller in the UK (where it was the bestselling debut of 2014 and has sold over 750,000 copies), as well as Holland, France, Spain, Japan and Scandinavia. “We could not be more excited to have a consummate filmmaker like Matthew to bring ‘I Am Pilgrim’ to the screen,” said Glickman. “His sensibility, coupled with Terry Hayes’ incredible story, gives us the ideal team to bring this character to the world wide audience.”

I really like this choice for a director. Matthew Vaughn has proven himself worthy to direct a spy film after what he did with Kingsman earlier this year. His style just lends itself so well to the genre and I'm really curious to see what he does with a little more serious material. The book sounds really interesting and I'm just excited to see what Matthew Vaughn can do with this material.

My Review of The Intern

So I recently watched The Intern and I'm here to bring you my review. So without further ado......

The Intern Poster.jpg

A retired successful business owner (played by Robert DeNiro) and widower lands an internship at a fashion website run by a young, career-driven woman (played by Anne Hathaway).

This is pretty bad film. Anne Hathaway is easily one of the top actors working in the business today and Robert DeNiro is easily one of the greatest actors of all-time and a movie with both of them being the co-leads sounds like a good idea, but this film isn't that. The film is really generic, predictable and boring. When DeNiro and Hathaway are on screen together the film moves at really smooth pace, but when they aren't and you get to know more about their characters individually, then film tends to drag along and it becomes uninteresting. Now that's not saying that the performances of the supporting cast are bad, but their characters are just dull. As mentioned before, the characters for Anne Hathaway and Robert DeNiro are pretty relatable to certain age groups (Hathaway for 20 to 30 year olds and DeNiro for anyone over 50) and that help a film when you have characters that generally have the same thought process as yourself. Overall this film is not unenjoyable outside of the interaction between Hathaway and DeNiro and it makes for a boring and predictable film. I give The Intern a 3 out of 10.

So ladies and gentlemen what did you think of The Intern, what would you rate it and what did you think of my review? Let me know in the comments section below and let your voice be heard.

Weekend Movie News 9-25-15 to 9-27-15

Hello ladies and gentlemen, here is some movie news with some of my thoughts and opinions (which will be in BOLD print). So without further ado...

(NOTE: All of these stories come from comingsoon.net)

Deadline is reporting that John Goodman (“Alpha House,” The Gambler) is set to co-star in Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary’s blockbuster Kong: Skull Island, joining a cast that already includes Tom Hiddleston, Brie Larson, Toby Kebbell, Jason Mitchell, Corey Hawkins, John C. Reilly, Samuel L. Jackson, and Tom Wilkinson. A trip back to the mysterious and dangerous home of the king of the apes, Kong: Skull Island follows a team of explorers led by Hiddleston, who venture deep inside the treacherous, primordial island to find his brother and a mythical serum, confronting extraordinary creatures along the way. John Goodman, who has some prior experience wrangling dinosaurs in 1994’s The Flintstones, is taking the role of Randa, a government official who escorts the expedition to the title island. Kong: Skull Island is being directed by The Kings of Summer‘s Jordan Vogt-Roberts from a script by John Gatins and Max Borenstein, with Legendary’s John Jashni and Thomas Tull producing alongside Mary Parent. Legendary’s story will honor the foundations of existing King Kong lore, but places it in an entirely new, distinct timeline rumored to bet set in the 1970s. Expected to go before cameras this fall, the film is set for release on March 10, 2017.

Can this cast get any better. I mean my goodness you have Samuel L. Jackson, Tom Hiddelston, Toby Kebbell and now John Goodman. To make a cruel joke, John Goodman could easily play King Kong, but all joking aside I think he will bring a great dynamic to this film. When J.K. Simmons and Michael Keaton left the project earlier this year I started to feel a little less excited for the film, but with the recent casting I can't help but get more excited for the film. I'm really curious to how it will build towards the future Godzilla v.s King Kong film and how it will do on its own.

With filming complete on Sony’s new Ghostbusters reboot and the surviving trio of Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd and Ernie Hudson all confirmed to have cameo roles, director Paul Feig has expressed his dismay at the surprises being spoiled for fans. Now it looks like another cat is out of the bag as, in anticipation of a leak, Feig himself has gone on Twitter to confirm that original co-star Sigourney Weaver (a.k.a. Dana Barrett, a.k.a. “The Gatekeeper”) will also take part in his new take on the property! Ghostbusters stars Kristen Wiig as Erin Gilbert, Kate McKinnon as Jillian Holtzman, Melissa McCarthy as Abby Yates and Leslie Jones as Patty Tolan. The film is also set feature Chris Hemsworth as the new secretary, Andy Garcia as the Mayor of New York City, Michael K. Williams as a character named “Hawkins,” Matt Walsh as a character named “Rourke,” and Neil Casey as the film’s villain. New York City’s NY1 news anchor Pat Kiernan is also set to appear as news anchor in the film. “I’m having a lot of fun playing with genres,” Feig told ComingSoon.net of the new film earlier this year, “…I love the original film, but I also just love the idea of busting ghosts and kind of paranormal warriors. I thought, ‘You know, if I could do this with the funny women I know and kind of just do a new origin story…’ I’m more interested in what would happen today. You know, you see things on TV about ghosts, but none of it’s real. What if, suddenly, something started happening? What happens when that just begins to happen to people? Also, how do they develop their technology? It’s not as fun if they’re just handed their proton packs. It’s why it’s not as fun to do a sequel. The fun is getting there.” Directed by Feig from a script he co-wrote with Katie Dippold, Sony Pictures will release Ghostbusters in theaters on July 15, 2016.

I'm really glad to hear this news. Sigourney Weaver is a tremendous actors and one of the characters she is most know for is Dana Barnett in the Ghostbusters franchise and I'm glad to see her returning to the franchise in this new film. However if she doesn't play Dana Barnett in this film then I will be upset because you have already announced that the surviving members of the original Ghostbusters are in the film but not their original characters and it would be a shame to do the same for Sigourney Weaver's character. Now another caveat is that the studio could be saying that they won't be their original characters, but towards the climax of the film they reveal themselves to be their original characters and then everything will be resolved and it would be stupid not to do that.

When the first image of Jason Momoa as Aquaman debuted, fans were shocked at how badass and Rob Zombie-fied he looked, sporting his tribal armor and tats, not to mention those knotty dreadlocks. He looked like someone you definitely would not want to mess with, but there was also the question of whether we would see him in his more traditional green and orange threads from the comic books, and now an interview with the actor for The Robot’s Voice makes it sound like we may yet see the King of Atlantis unite the seven in style. “Well, there might be some bit of orange and green,” Momoa hinted. “A bit of respect to prior work, but I think he is meaner now and upset – look at what has been done to our oceans. That’s his world that has been polluted.” Momoa also confirmed that he has indeed already been scanned for toy-making purposes, so keep an eye out for those bathtub-friendly Aquaman action figures very soon, hopefully in time for Christmas. “Yes I have,” Momoa says of being scanned. “There will be collectibles.” While his debut appearance in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is rumored to be brief, there’s a rumor that Arthur Curry/Aquaman may drop by as a death row guest at Belle Reve Penitentiary in the next Warner Bros. and DC Extended Universe film Suicide Squad before joining director Zack Snyder’s The Justice League Part One in 2017 and then his own James Wan-helmed solo film titled simply Aquaman on July 27, 2018.

I really like hearing this news. Now granted while Aquaman isn't the most loved character in comic book (actually the most made fun of character) and now that Jason Momoa is in the role I don't think he'll be getting made fun of any time soon. As for the colors being added to the costume, that was no doubt because if you didn't then even the none die-hard fans of the character will be up in arms. The first picture looked really spectacular and I cannot wait to see how Jason Momoa will do with the character and in a solo film as well.

On Thursday, director Ridley Scott revealed that Prometheus 2 will actually be called Alien: Paradise Lost, and now the filmmaker has said a bit more to HeyUGuys about what we can expect. So why is it titled Alien: Paradise Lost? “Well, because we’re heading back to why and how and when the beast was invented,” Ridley said at The Martian premiere. “We’ll go back into the back door of the very first Alien that I did thirty years ago.” You can check out the interview segment in the player below. Prometheus 2 was rumored to have the temporary moniker “Paradise” for a while now, and while the title “Paradise Lost” is a reference to English poet John Milton’s famous work about the fall of man, it is also in reference to a specific scene in Prometheus itself, in which Elizabeth Shaw’s father tells her where dead people go: Shaw’s Father: Everyone has their own word; heaven, paradise. Whatever it’s called, it’s someplace beautiful. Young Shaw: How do you know it’s beautiful? “You know the poem?” Scott queried the interviewer earlier. “I’m sure you’ve never been through it, the poem’s a book, ‘Paradise Lost.’ It sounds intellectual but there’s a similarity to it. That’s where it stops.” The new planet to be featured in Alien: Paradise Lost, which will be the home of the nefarious engineers of the first film, is said to have been dubbed “Paradise” by the filmmakers. Although Scott has previously confirmed the original H.R. Giger Alien designs will not be replicated for this new film, it should involve new terrifying creatures, including the engineer/alien hybrid dubbed “The Deacon” as glimpsed briefly in the finale of Prometheus. Alien: Paradise Lost will go before cameras in February with Michael Fassbender and Noomi Rapace set to reprise their roles of Shaw and the android David, respectively. It is unknown what this new title means for the Alien film that Neill Blomkamp was developing.

I'm still confused about the title. Now while I get the meaning behind the title, but it just doesn't sound like it fits for an Alien film. When I think of Alien films I don't see anything that reminds me of paradise or something being beautiful. I would feel better with the plain old title Prometheus 2 and as opposed to Alien: Lost Paradise. I didn't enjoy Prometheus that much, but I'm really curious to see how they will build on the mythology that was presented in Prometheus and how it will lead into the original Alien film.

Talent appears to be coalescing today for The Weinstein Company‘s historical drama The Current War. According to a story at The Hollywood Reporter, both Benedict Cumberbatch and Jake Gyllenhaal are in talks for the leading roles of Thomas Edison and George Westinghouse, respectively. The Current War was scripted by Michael Mitnick and had the distinction of landing on the 2011 Black List of “unproduced” screenplays with the following logline: Based on the true story of the race between Thomas Edison and George Westinghouse to develop a practical system of electricity and sell their respective inventions to the country and the world.

I think this is terrific casting. Benedict Cumberbatch and Jake Gyllenhaal are two of the best actors on the planet and seeing them on the big screen together (for what I believe is the first time) will be a special treat. I'm excited to see Benedict Cumberbatch as Thomas Edison is a great choice and I don't know much about George Westinghouse, but hopefully this film can give a little insight into his life and this friendship or rivalry or whatever it is.

My Review of Sicario

So I recently watched Sicario and I'm here to bring you my review. so without further ado............

Sicario poster.jpg

At the border between the United States and Mexico, idealistic FBI Special Weapons and Tactics Teams agent Kate Macer (played by Emily Blunt) is enlisted by a government official to aid in a joint task force tracking down an anonymous drug lord.

This is a really intense film. One of the best directors working today id Denis Villeneuve who has 2 incredible movies before this one (Prisoners and Enemy) and you can add this film to his list because it is amazing. The acting in the film is superb as Emily Blunt, Josh Brolin and Benico Del Toro all give spectacular performances that are all Oscar worthy. It also has some of the best cinematography in a film this year and the is due to the legendary cinematographer Roger Deakins. It moves at such a fast and intense pace that it can be hard to keep up with the film, but you are just so engaged that the pacing at times isn't even noticeable. The story and themes are important and insightful and it just shows you some of things that go on beyond the border. The film takes you on a lot of different twists and turns that keep you guessing and on the edge of your seat. The one thing that bothered me was the fact that  there weren't enough scenes with Josh Brolin and Benicio del Toro. Overall this is an intense film filled with Oscar-caliber actors and performances. I give Sicario an 9.5 out of 10.

So ladies and gentlemen what did you think of Sicario, what would you rate it and what did you think of my review? Let me know in the comments section below and let your voice be heard.

My Review of The Green Inferno

So I recently watched The Green Inferno and I'm here to bring you my review. So without further ado...

The Green Inferno poster.jpg

The Green Inferno follows a group of student activists who travel from New York City to the Amazon to save the rainforest. However, once they arrive in this vast green landscape, they soon discover that they are not alone... and that no good deed goes unpunished.

This was a sick, disturbing and haunting, but fun film. Eli Roth has been on the shelf for the past 8 years and for this to be his comeback film is remarkable and it's only the 5th film that he's ever directed. The film presents a very interesting message and Eli Roth tends to do that in every film he does and if you're not a fan of certain messages being portrayed on screen then you don't need to see this film or any other Eli Roth's film. The acting in  the film is pretty atrocious, but you don't go see an Eli Roth film and expect a good story or good acting. The characters are wooden, annoying, and dull and the dialogue feels so forced. The main character of the film is the gore and violence and in the film there are some pretty gruesome, violent and gory scenes. It has a feeling and a lot similarities of Cannibal Holocaust which Eli Roth has stated was inspiration for this film and you can definitely tell that in every single scene. Overall if you're not a fan of brutal gore or Eli Roth himself then you won't like this movie, but if you are then this is the film for you. I give The Green Inferno an 8 out of 10.

So ladies and gentlemen what did you think of The Green Inferno, what would you rate it and what did you think of my review? Let me know in the comments section below and let your voice be heard.

My Review of Captive

So I recently watched captive and I'm here to bring you my review? So without further ado...........

Captive (2015 film) poster.jpg

When Brian Nichols (played by David Oyelowo) on the run as the subject of a city wide manhunt and desperate to make contact with his newborn son - takes recovering meth addict Ashley Smith (played by Kate Mara) hostage in her own apartment, she turns for guidance to Rick Warren's best-selling inspirational book, The Purpose Driven Life. While reading aloud, Ashley and her would-be killer each face crossroads where despair and death intersect hope.

This is a really bad film. Look David Oyelowo and Kate Mara are two outstanding actors and in any other film they would be great, but in this film they are just terrible and they have absolutely no chemistry whatsoever which makes for a lot of awkward scenes. The plot of the film is interesting, but it is a basic paint by numbers hostage film with barely any suspense and no real character development. You have absolutely no reason to cheer for either of these two characters no matter how innocent they may come off in a particular scene. This film felt a little too stretched out and had a lot of unnecessary plot points and this probably would've done better as a 45 minute short film without having to use much filler material at all. Overall this is a bland and boring with no great performances from two stellar actors and nothing inspiring. I give Captive a 0.5 out of 10.

So ladies and gentlemen what did you think of Captive, what would you rate it and what did you think of my review? Let me know in the comments section below and let your voice be heard.

9-23-15 Movie News

Hello ladies and gentlemen, here is some movie news with some of my thoughts and opinions (which will be in BOLD print). So without further ado...

(NOTE: All of these stories come from comingsoon.net)

Before Sony and Marvel Studios reached a deal about Spider-Man earlier this year, the company was still developing a number of titles for their franchise. The Amazing Spider-Man 3 was on the docket along with a Venom solo film, a female-led spin-off, and a Sinister Six movie. The Cabin in the Woods director Drew Goddard was writing and directing the film, which was shelved after the new agreement came around, but speaking with io9, Goddard is hopeful that it could one day happen as part of the Marvel plan. “My vision of that movie was a summer annual. So you didn’t have to worry about continuity. It was just, ‘We take Peter, put him on an adventure, we put him back in his life.’ I intentionally wanted a movie that didn’t have to worry about mythology and continuity. It was important to me to make a movie that could stand on its own. So the good news is, you know, [laughs], it slots in very well to any plan anybody ever wants. We just need to let a couple years go by, I think.” Goddard also went on to praise the Sony/Marvel deal as a fan of the source materiel. “The tricky part about all this is I love this plan. I love that you get to see Spider-Man in Marvel movies. I think that’s a great thing. I’m on board with that decision because as a fan that’s what I want. So who knows what the future holds? This is Hollywood, man, you’ve gotta play the long game.” Tom Holland will star as your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man, making his cinematic debut in 2016’s Captain America: Civil War. He’ll be joined by Marisa Tomei as Aunt May. Set to be directed by Jon Watts, the solo Spider-Man movie will be written by Vacation writers and directors John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein. The film will swing into theaters on July 28, 2017.

These are pretty interesting comments. Out of everyone who was left in the shuffle after the semi Sony/Marvel merger was Drew Goddard who is an amazing talent and I would put him on any project if I was a studiohead. I think that this film may happen if the film Suicide Squad is successful because it will show that these types of films can work.I think the Sinister Six could be a great film simply because besides Batman, Spider-Man has the biggest gallery of villains and it would be great to see them all on-screen together against Spider-Man just like the comments.

Rovio and Sony Pictures have revealed the first trailer for The Angry Birds Movie, featuring our first look at the battle between the colorful feathered friends and villainous green pig antagonists of the animated feature. You can check out The Angry Birds Movie trailer below. The main trio of Angry Birds will be led by Jason Sudeikis (Horrible Bosses, We’re the Millers) as Red, a bird with a temper, with Josh Gad (Frozen) as the speedy Chuck, and Danny McBride (This is the End, “Eastbound & Down”) voicing the volatile Bomb. Supporting them are Bill Hader (Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs) as a pig, Maya Rudolph (Bridesmaids) as Matilda, and Peter Dinklage (“Game of Thrones”) as the Mighty Eagle. Also lending their voices to the video game adaptation are Keegan-Michael Key (“Key & Peele”), Kate McKinnon (“SNL”), Tony Hale (“Arrested Development”), Ike Barinholtz (Neighbors), Hannibal Buress (“Broad City”), Cristela Alonzo (“Cristela”), Jillian Bell (22 Jump Street), Danielle Brooks (“Orange is the New Black”), singer Romeo Santos and YouTube stars Smosh (Ian Andrew Hecox and Anthony Padilla). “The question Rovio gets more than anything is ‘Why are these birds so angry?’” producer John Cohen (Despicable Me) said previously. “This is the origin story for how that conflict came to exist between birds and little green piggies.” In its various formats, the “Angry Birds” game has been downloaded over two billion times as of this year, with an animated series “Angry Birds Toons” that has collectively tallied three-billion views on numerous platforms. Written by “The Simpsons” alum Jon Vitti and directed by Fergal Reilly and Clay Kaytis, The Angry Birds Movie is set to debut in the US on July 1, 2016.

This was actually a really funny trailer. When I first heard about this film I rolled my eyes becasue I thought it was a really stupid idea, but after seeing The Lego Movie I was actually giving this film some hope and now the trailer is reconfirming that hope. Now the film could still be terrible, but I think that the voice cast in the film is funny enough and the popularity of the game will make the film successful even if it is a bad movie.

Sony Pictures Classics (via Yahoo!) has revealed the first trailer and poster for Truth, the directorial debut by noted screenwriter James Vanderbilt (Zodiac, The Amazing Spider-Man) starring Oscar winners Cate Blanchett (Blue Jasmine, Carol) and Robert Redford (All is Lost, Captain America: The Winter Soldier). You can check out the Truth trailer below. The drama, based on Mary Mapes’ novel “Truth and Duty,” centers around the “Rathergate” created when the award-winning CBS News journalist Dan Rather (played by Redford) and Mapes, his producer (played by Blanchett), broke the story about U.S. President George W. Bush going AWOL from the National Guard for a year during the Vietnam War on 60 Minutes, shortly before the 2004 Presidential election. When it was discovered that they hadn’t properly authenticated the documents (which were forgeries), the ensuing scandal nearly took down CBS News, ruining Rather’s career and credibility in the process. Truth co-stars Topher Grace, Elisabeth Moss and Dennis Quaid, and will receive a limited release in New York and L.A. on October 16 before expanding nationwide later.

This was a really intense trailer. From the moment I heard about the film I was immediately excited because this was going to be a film that a lot of people want to see because of the topic it is about. Robert Redford looks and sounds spot on as Dan Rather and while I wasn't considering him on the radar for an Oscar nomination, I think now seeing the trailer puts him into that conversation without a doubt along with his co-star Cate Blanchett. The film looks amazing and I cannot wait to see it.

Walt Disney Animation Studios (via Yahoo!) has debuted the new poster for their animated feature Zootopia featuring another look at pop star Shakira’s character Gazelle. You can check out the Zootopia poster below. The modern mammal metropolis of Zootopia is a city like no other. Comprised of habitat neighborhoods like ritzy Sahara Square and frigid Tundratown, it’s a melting pot where animals from every environment live together—a place where no matter what you are, from the biggest elephant to the smallest shrew, you can be anything. But when optimistic Officer Judy Hopps (voice of Ginnifer Goodwin) arrives, she discovers that being the first bunny on a police force of big, tough animals isn’t so easy. Determined to prove herself, she jumps at the opportunity to crack a case, even if it means partnering with a fast-talking, scam-artist fox, Nick Wilde (voice of Jason Bateman), to solve the mystery. The comedy-adventure is directed by Byron Howard (Tangled, Bolt) and Rich Moore (Wreck-It Ralph, “The Simpsons”) and co-directed by Jared Bush (“Penn Zero: Part-Time Hero”). Zootopia opens in theaters on March 4, 2016.

Zootopia

This is a pretty great poster. It fits into the movie and that's all I really ask a poster to do and also as long as it is original and this one is to a point. This was a movie that kind of interested me to a point because I love animals, but to be fair it's a story we've seen before just not with the technology we have this day in age. I think this film being made Disney helps becasue it is a film that I think both parents and kids will enjoy together and plus it will be a nice birthday present as it comes out one my birthday. The trailers have really got me excited to see the film and I'm looking forward to my birthday even more.

20th Century Fox has just released a new poster for their upcoming live-action and CGI hybrid, Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip. You can check out The Road Chip poster below. This time around, after a series of misunderstandings, Alvin, Simon and Theodore come to believe that Dave is going to propose to his new girlfriend in New York City… and dump them. They have three days to get to him and stop the proposal, saving themselves from losing Dave. Scripted by Mrs. Doubtfire screenwriter Randi Mayem Singer and directed by Walt Becker, Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip stars Jason Lee (Mallrats, “My Name Is Earl”) as Dave Seville and will again feature the voices of Justin Long (Tusk, Drag Me To Hell), Matthew Gray Gubler (“Criminal Minds,” (500) Days of Summer) and Jesse McCartney (“Army Wives,” “Young Justice”) as the headlining chipmunks. Combined, the three previous movies, which started with 2007’s Alvin and the Chipmunks, have grossed over $560 million domestically and $1.1 billion worldwide, although the last movie grossed $100 million less in North America than the previous two movies. Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip hits theaters on December 23.

Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip

To be really honest I hate this poster so much. Look I'm a fan of the old Chipmunks cartoons and the songs around Christmas time, but the movies have true disappointments and have been absolutely terrible. They have made a lot of money despite having very terrible reviews and I feel like this film will do the same and I believe that mainly because of the Christmas release date. I can't really get excited for the film and I probably won't enjoy it, but I hope everyone else does.
