1. Once again, The Hitman's Bodyguard held onto the number one spot fairly easy without much competition.
2. The lack of a massive blockbuster out in theaters is really starting to show in the box office returns as this is the worst weekend since September 2001 and that month had a good reason to be bad at the movies.
3. Just to show how much of massive draw Mayweather vs. McGregor was this weekend, the fathom events screenings of the event intake were able to make it into the top highest grossing films of the weekend also this not being the most competitive weekend at the box office helps too.
4. The biggest loser of the weekend was The Hitman's Bodyguard as it made 52% less than it did last weekend and the biggest winner of the weekend was Wind River as it made 54.6% more than it did last weekend.
5. I went 2 for 5 on my predictions.

Predictions
1. The Hitman's Bodyguard $7 Million
2. Annabelle: Creation $4 Million
3. Leap! $2.5 Million
4. Wind River $2 Million
5. Logan Lucky $1 Million

My Review of Logan Lucky

So I recently watched Logan Lucky and I'm here to bring you my review. So without further ado...

Logan Lucky.png

West Virginia family man Jimmy Logan (played by Channing Tatum) teams up with his one-armed brother Clyde (played by Adam Driver) and sister Mellie (played by Riley Keough) to steal money from the Charlotte Motor Speedway in North Carolina. Jimmy also recruits demolition expert Joe Bang (played by Daniel Craig) to help them break into the track's underground system. Complications arise when a mix-up forces the crew to pull off the heist during a popular NASCAR race while also trying to dodge a relentless FBI agent.

This one of the more fun heist films in recent memory. Steven Soderbergh is one of the best directors that no one hardly knows and he has directed some of the best films of this century with two of those three being heist films apart of the Oceans Trilogy (Oceans Twelve kinda sucks), but while this one won't be considered a masterpiece by many it was a great way for Soderbergh to jump back into directing.  The film itself has some great moments sprinkled throughout the film and most of those moments are the comedic elements and while some of the jokes are big fails, some of them hit pretty hard and make the film a little more light-hearted. The star of the film is Daniel Craig who pulls off one of the best southern accents ever put on film especially for a guy who is British. The main trio of Craig, Driver and Tatum all work really well together in every scene and the hi-jinx they get themselves into is truly remarkable. If you've seen Soderbergh's previous films you'll easily see this on the lighter of tone of things compared to other works and it's nice to see a director step out of their comfort zone for a little bit. Outside of the main trio, none of the performances really stand out and some characters are honestly wasted and one in particular is Hilary Swank's character who is thrown in for the last 20 minutes or so and doesn't truly make an impact. Also this may be a little bit of nitpicking, but why rob Charlotte Motor Speedway during the Coca-Cola 600 when instead you could try to rob The Daytona 500? The story itself is pretty straightforward and doesn't try to swerve you one way or another and honestly there could've been a couple of other avenues that the film could've taken to make things a little bit more interesting. Overall it's a return to form for Soderbergh with a film that has a lot of laughs and great performances, but lacks in original storytelling and wasted opportunities. I give Logan Lucky a 7 out of 10.

So ladies and gentlemen what did you think of Logan Lucky, what would you rate it and what did you think of my review? Let me know in the comments section below and let your voice be heard.

                                                                                                                           Jonah Sparks

My Review of The Hitman's Bodyguard

So I recently watched The Hitman's Bodyguard and I'm here to bring you my review. So without further ado...

HitmansBodyguard.jpg

The world's top protection agent (played by Ryan Reynolds) is called upon to guard the life of his mortal enemy (played by Samuel L. Jackson), one of the world's most notorious hit men. The relentless bodyguard and manipulative assassin have been on the opposite end of the bullet for years and are thrown together for a wildly outrageous 24 hours. During their journey from England to the Hague, they encounter high-speed car chases, outlandish boat escapades and a merciless Eastern European dictator who is out for blood.

This is a really fun yet really disappointing film. Both Ryan Reynolds and Samuel L. Jackson are terrific actors and both bring a very unique brand of comedy to the film and for times within the film both of their styles mix really well. However most of the time neither of them connect that well and it makes for some awkward scenes. There are a lot of great action sequences throughout the film that keep everything at an even-keeled pace and can keep you entertained for the most part. As mentioned the film is fun and that goes back to the great actions scenes, but there are a few times were cliches that have come into play before in these types of films and some of them work whilst some of them don't and it doesn't help make the film feel fresh. The film tires to be more than just a true action-comedy and while the ambition is great, it was completely unnecessary and the filmmakers should've kept things simpler and not try to stretch things out beyond believability. Also when the film doesn't necessarily focus on either Jackson or Reynolds, the film as a whole just isn't that interesting and there is nothing for you to really sink your teeth into. Overall it's a film that has a lot of good things going for it, but in the end the filmmakers tried to over complicate things when it should've been much simpler. I give The Hitman's Bodyguard a 4.5 out of 10.

1. The Hitman's Bodyguard was able to take over the number one spot, but with a less than stellar number, but good enough for the film to be on pace to make back it's budget and then some.
2. Spider-Man: Homecoming continues to hold on strong in the top 10 for the 7th consecutive weekend in a row and it looks as if when it ends it's run it will cross $800 million worldwide which will place it third in the Spider-Man film history only behind Spider-Man and Spider-Man 3.
3. The Nut Job 2: Nutty by Nature continues to do abysmal work at the box office and it will end up costing the studio a lot of money.
4. The biggest loser of the weekend was Annabelle: Creation as it made 55.4% less than it did last weekend and the biggest winner of the weekend was Wind River as it made 378% more than it did last weekend.
5. I went 5 for 5 on my predictions.

Predictions
1. The Hitman's Bodyguard $18 Million
2. Annabelle: Creation $11 Million
3. Logan Lucky $6 Million
4. Dunkirk $4 Million
5. Leap! $3 Million
