My Top 10 Most Anticipated Films for the 2nd Half of 2014

With the first half of the year over with, I thought it would be fitting to look forward to rest of 2014. With that being said I'm going to bring you my top 10 most anticipated films for the 2nd half of 2014. Now some films do not yet have posters or trailers, but I will update them as soon as they are released. So without further ado...

10. Dumb and Dumber To

I really enjoyed the first film (it's one of my favorite comedies of all-time) and I can't wait for this film.Twenty years after their last adventure, good-hearted, yet dimwitted best friends, Harry Dunne and Lloyd Christmas head out in search for Harry's long lost daughter, and Lloyd's in love again. Dumb and Dumber To hits theaters on November 14th and it has been rated PG-13.

9. Fury

I wasn't really looking forward to this film until the the trailer came out recently and it certainly peaked my interest. The film is set during the last months of World War II in April 1945. As the Allies make their final push in the European Theater, a battle-hardened U.S. Army sergeant in the 2nd Armored Division named Wardaddy (Brad Pitt) commands a Sherman tank called "Fury" and its five-man crew on a deadly mission behind enemy lines. Outnumbered and outgunned, Wardaddy and his men face overwhelming odds in their heroic attempts to strike at the heart of Nazi Germany. Fury hits theaters on November 14th and it has not yet been rated.

8. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

I'm a huge fan of TMNT and eventhough the film is getting mixed opinions so far I'm excited for the film no matter what. Darkness has settled over New York City as Shredder and his evil Foot Clan have an iron grip on everything from the police to the politicians. The future is grim until four unlikely outcast brothers rise from the sewers and discover their destiny as the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The Turtles must work with fearless reporter April and her wise-cracking cameraman Vernon Fenwick to save the city and unravel Shredder's diabolical plan. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles hits theaters on August 8th and it has not yet been rated.

7. Exodus: Gods and Kings
Exodus2014Poster.jpg

We've already had one great biblical epic this year and this one looks to be great as well. It has an all-star cast and it's directed by Ridley Scott. Christian Bale stars as Moses in director Ridley Scott's Biblical epic based on the Book of Exodus. Exodus: Gods and Kings is set to hit theaters on December 12th and it has not yet been rated.

6. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1
MockingjayPart1Poster.jpg

I absolutely  loved the first two films in the franchise and eventhough I feel the splitting of the book in half is unnecessary, I'm still looking forward to the film. Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) finds herself in District 13 after she destroys the Games forever. Under the leadership of President Coin (Julianne Moore) and the advice of her trusted friends, Katniss spreads her wings as she fights to save Peeta. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 is set to hit theaters on November 21st and it has been rated PG-13.

5. Interstellar
Against a black backdrop, the title "Interstellar" is written downward and ends above a horizon that depicts a silhouette of farm buildings. The title starts with "INTER" in white letters, and a white flare effect from the horizon upward is behind "STELLAR" in black letters.

This film has a lot of mystery surrounding, but I'm a huge fan of Christopher Nolan and this films looks to be amazing. When a wormhole (which theoretically can connect widely-separated regions of spacetime) is discovered, explorers and scientists unite to embark on a voyage through it, transcending the limits of human space travel. Interstellar hits theaters on November 7th and it has not yet been rated.

4. The Hobbit: The Battle of The Five Armies
The Hobbit - The Battle of the Five Armies.jpg

I'm a huge fan of both LOTR and The Hobbit franchises and I can't wait to see the fitting conclusion to the franchise. After the dwarves find and awaken Smaug the dragon, the titular battle ensues (between the Goblins and Wargs, the Men of Lake-town, the Elves, the Dwarves, the Eagles, and Beorn) to gain control of Erebor (The Lonely Mountain) and the treasure inside. The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies hits theaters on December 17th and it has been rated PG-13.

3. Gone Girl

David Fincher is one of my favorite directors and Ben Affleck has really hit his stride over the past couple of years and this film looks amazing. On his fifth wedding anniversary, Nick Dunne finds out that his wife, Amy, has gone missing. Under pressure from the police and a growing media frenzy, Nick's portrait of a blissful union begins to crumble. Soon his deceits and strange behavior have everyone asking the same dark question: Did Nick Dunne kill his wife? Gone Girl hits theaters on October 3rd and it has been rated R.

2. Dawn of the Planet of the Apes
A chimp brandishes an automatic rifle while astride a rearing horse.

I absolutely loved the first film and this film looks to be even better than the first. A growing nation of genetically evolved apes led by Caesar is threatened by a band of human survivors of the devastating virus unleashed a decade earlier. They reach a fragile peace, but it proves short-lived, as both sides are brought to the brink of a war to determine who will dominate Earth. Dawn of the Planet of the Apes hits theaters on July 11th and it has been rated PG-13.

1. Guardians of the Galaxy
The five Guardians, sporting various weapons, arrayed in front of a backdrop of a planet in space.

I don't know too much about the Guardians of the Galaxy but it's a Marvel film and I'm just absolutely looking forward to it. In the far reaches of space, an American pilot named Peter Quill finds himself the object of a manhunt after stealing an orb coveted by the villainous Ronan. In order to evade Ronan, Quill is forced into an uneasy truce with a group of misfits including Gamora, Rocket, Drax the Destroyer, and Groot. But when Quill discovers the true power of the orb and the menace it poses to the cosmos, he must rally his ragtag rivals for a last, desperate stand – with the galaxy's fate in the balance. Guardians of the Galaxy hits theaters on August 1st and it has been rated PG-13.
