7-3-14 Movie News

Hello ladies and gentlemen, here is some movie news with some of my thoughts and opinions (which will be in BOLD print). So without further ado...

(NOTE: All of these stories come from comingsoon.net)

Following a look at Henry Cavill as Clark Kent earlier this week, Warner Bros. Pictures has now revealed the first photo (via USA Today) of the Man of Steel star as Superman in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

Director Zack Snyder tells the newspaper that adding DC Comics characters such as Batman (Ben Affleck), Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) and Cyborg (Ray Fisher) makes the movie "thicker, denser and more epic" than Man of Steel and allows it to be the next step toward building a strong movie universe that will ultimately lead to Snyder's Justice League.

USA Today adds that "'Dawn of Justice' continues to immerse Superman on Earth by working at the Daily Planet as Clark Kent along with Lois Lane (Amy Adams) and Perry White (Laurence Fishburne). But it also takes him to new environments such as Gotham City and introduces larger threats, including Lex Luthor (Jesse Eisenberg). The debuting heroes Superman meets will affect his perspective on Earth and on the ones he loves, and Snyder feels his convictions will be drawn into question as well."

As far as Affleck's Batman, Snyder said to expect an older, road-weary take on the Dark Knight. "It's cooler to see a crusty old Batman beating the snot out of guys," he said. Snyder also explained the 'v' in the title instead of the traditional 'vs.' They did it "to keep it from being a straight 'versus' movie, even in the most subtle way." Snyder added that he has yet to film any scenes with Gadot as the Amazonian princess. "She's working out and getting buff and ripped."

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is scheduled to hit theaters on May 6, 2016.

This is a really cool image. I really like the look of Superman. He looks a lot more realistic than he did in Man of Steel. I also like the backdrop of what appears to be Gotham City. I'm just excited for this film and I can't wait to see it.

Ken Jeong, star of The Hangover trilogy and a key cast member of the just-resurrected "Community," has, according to a story at The Hollywood Reporter, signed on to join Kevin Hart, Ice Cube, Oliva Munn and Benjamin Bratt in the upcoming Ride Along 2. Coming to theaters on January 15, 2016, the Tim Story-directed film will reunite the stars of this year's comedy hit for a new adventure, rumored to take place in Miami.

Jeong will next lend his voice to both The Penguins of Madagascar and Norm of the North. He also recently made plans to team with producer Steve Carell for a comedy called International Incident. Phil Hay and Matt Manfredi wrote the script for Ride Along 2, which will be produced by Cube and Matt Alvarez through CubeVision and by William Packer and his Will Packer Productions. Larry Brezner will also produce.

I really like the casting. I think Ken Jeong is absolutely hilarious and he'll be a great addition to the cast. I really don't like the idea of a Ride Along 2 but now that Jeong has signed on I think I'm might actually like the film.

XLRator Media has brought online the trailer for writer/director John Ridley's Jimi Hendrix biopic, Jimi: All is By My Side, starring Andre Benjamin, Imogen Poots, Hayley Atwell, Burn Gorman and Ruth Negga. Written and directed by John Ridley, Jimi: All is By My Side covers a year in Hendrix’s life from 1966-67 as an unknown backup guitarist playing New York’s Cheetah Club to making his mark in London’s music scene up until his Monterey Pop triumph, the film presents an intimate portrait of the sensitive young musician on the verge of becoming a rock legend. Jimi: All is By My Side hits theaters September 26.

This was a pretty bland trailer for me. Don't get me wrong I want to see it but this trailer is just boring to me. Bu the film does look amazing and I think the film could get Andre Benjamin (better known as Andre 3000) an Oscar nomination but it's to early to tell. The problem that the film faces is not having the rights to everyone of Hendrix's songs so the film will be brought down by that. But in all honesty I can't wait to see the movie for myslef.

The first nine stills from Open Road Films' Max Steel have arrived. Max Steel stars Ben Winchell as Max McGrath and Ana Villafane as Sofia Martinez. Written by Marvel Studios veteran Christopher Yost (Thor: The Dark World) and directed by Stewart Hendler ("Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn"), the film is said to be an in-depth origin story that chronicles the adventures of 16-year old Max McGrath and alien companion Steel, who must harness and combine their tremendous new powers to evolve into the turbo-charged superhero Max Steel. As these two unlikely friends struggle to accept their oddly connected fates, they begin to uncover unimaginable secrets, working together to find the truth, and fighting the mysterious forces threatening their world. Andy Garcia also stars in the film, which is planned to hit theaters on an as-of-yet-unspecified date in 2015.

This film looks absolutely terrible. I mean I have heard of the character before but I'm not really all that familiar with him,. But with these images it's looks as if the film is cheap and nobody really tried on the film. Maybe the trailer can get me excited.

We've got a first look today at how Sacha Baron Cohen will appear in the new Sony Pictures comedy Grimsby, and it comes from an unusual source. The one and only Eric Idle actually spotted Cohen on the set and tweeted out the below photo of them. Also co-written by Cohen, the July 31, 2015 release co-stars Mark Strong, Annabelle Wallis, David Harewood, Ian McShane, Gabourey Sidibe, Johnny Vegas, Rebel Wilson and Isla Fisher. Directed by Louis Leterrier, the film follows a secret agent who learns that he has a long-lost brother, a dimwitted soccer fan, with whom he must team up.

This image is pretty funny. I mean Sasha Baron Cohen is a great comedic actor and this film sounds like it fits him perfectly. The studio hasn't really given us a lot of information about the film but I'm really intrigued by the film.
