My Review of Boyhood

So I recently watched Boyhood and I'm here to bring you my review. So without further ado.................

Boyhood film.jpg

Filmed over 12 years with the same cast, Richard Linklater's BOYHOOD is a groundbreaking story of growing up as seen through the eyes of a child named Mason (played by  Ellar Coltrane). Ethan Hawke and Patricia Arquette as Mason's parents and newcomer Lorelei Linklater as his sister Samantha, BOYHOOD charts the rocky terrain of childhood like no other film has before. Snapshots of adolescence from road trips and family dinners to birthdays and graduations and all the moments in between become transcendent, set to a soundtrack spanning the years from Coldplay's Yellow to Arcade Fire's Deep Blue. It's impossible to watch Mason and his family without thinking about our own journey.

Wow this film is just absolutely amazing. Director Richard Linklater has taken possibly one of the biggest risks in cinema history by doing this film. Being able to keep the entire cast together over the span of 12 years is just simply magnificent. The performances in the film are spectacular as well especially the performance of Ellar Coltrane which could easily get him not only an Academy award nomination, but a win as well. The film tells a beautiful story of  a boy coming of age and into his own and it will be a heavy contender at The Oscars next year. This is a film that people will talk about it for the rest of time and it will be one to say when and where did you first see this film and it will leave you with possibly the greatest film-going experience in you entire life. Overall the film has  magnificent performances, an unbelievable ability to pull at you heartstrings and brilliant story. I give Boyhood a 10 out of 10.

So ladies and gentlemen what did you think of Boyhood, what would you rate it and what did you think of my review? Let me know in the comments section below and let your voice be heard.
