8-6-14 Movie News

Hello ladies and gentlemen, here is some movie news with some of my thoughts and opinions (which will be in BOLD print). So without further ado...

(NOTE: All of these stories come from comingsoon.net)

Justice is set to dawn nearly two months earlier than originally planned! Warner Bros. Pictures has moved the release of their highly-anticipated superhero team-up Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice to March 25, 2016! The original date of May 6, 2016 had the film opening opposite Marvel Studios' Captain America 3. It will now go up against Brett Ratner's Beverly Hills Cop, while Dean Devlin's Geostorm, originally set for that date, has been moved to an unspecified 2016 release.

The Zack Snyder-directed action adventure stars Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne, Diane Lane, Jesse Eisenberg, Jeremy Irons, Holly Hunter and Scoot McNairy.

UPDATE: Warner Bros. Pictures has now mapped out a massive schedule of DC Comics properties! The mystery DC Comics films are set for release on:

- August 5, 2016
- June 23, 2017
- November 17, 2017
- March 23, 2018
- July 27, 2018
- April 5, 2019
- June 14, 2019
- April 3, 2020
- June 19, 2020

They've also scheduled "event" films (i.e., not necessarily DC Comics related) for November 16, 2018 and November 20, 2020.

+        I'm not shocked and I'm finally glad that DC grew a pair. I'm happy that this long drawn out saga of Captain America 3 vs. Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice being released on the same date. It benefits both films and both studios because both would suffer financially because they will both be big films and this will sort of be a three week late birthday present for me. Plus  I'm ecstatic that they are planning ahead now they just need to tell us the titles and we'll be all set. I want to bring up the list that Nikki Finke leaked two months ago concerning the future film in the DC Universe...

May 2016 – Batman v Superman
July 2016 – Shazam
Xmas 2016 – Sandman
May 2017 – Justice League
July 2017 – Wonder Woman
Xmas 2017 – Flash and Green Lantern team-up
May 2018 – Man Of Steel 2
Now lets compare, both lists have dates that are close to some of the leaked dates but the new list has added a few dates but they are little similar. Those dates that are somewhat similar are Shazam moved to August 2016, Justice League moved to June 2017, The Flash and Green Lantern team-up moved to November 2017 and Man of Steel 2 moved to July 2018. Hopefully DC can release the slate in the near future.

Following the launch of the District 13 website at District13.co.in, Lionsgate has started rolling out new character posters featuring the cast of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1. By following clues at the viral site, fans have uncovered Jeffrey Wright's Beetee (via IGN), Woody Harrelson's Haymitch (via MTV) and the late Phillip Seymour Hoffman's Plutarch Heavensbee (via Yahoo! Movies). Three additional posters have meanwhile been found thanks to The Hunger Gamers fan site, although it appears they may have leaked early. We'll update with proper credit and larger images as they become officially available. In the meantime, you can check out six new designs in the gallery viewer below!

Also Starring Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Elizabeth Banks, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Stanley Tucci, Donald Sutherland, Julianne Moore, Michelle Forbes, Natalie Dormer, Stef Dawson, Evan Ross, Gwendoline Christie, Patina Miller, Wes Chatham, Elden Henson and Robert Knepper, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1 is directed by Francis Lawrence and based on the novel by Suzanne Collins. It follows Katniss' (Lawrence) journey as she leads the districts of Panem in a rebellion against the tyrannical and corrupt Capitol. As the war that will determine the fate of Panem escalates, Katniss must decipher for herself who she can trust and what needs to be done, with everything she cares for in the balance.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1 opens November 21 and will be followed next year by The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2 on November 20, 2015.

I really like these posters. It gives a good look at where and how are characters look after the events of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. I'm a fan of the films so far and I honestly cannot wait for these next two films to come out.

Production has officially wrapped on the upcoming "Terminator" reboot and star Arnold Schwarzenegger revealed the title for the film in a post on his Facebook - Terminator Genisys. Schwarzenegger revealed the title along with an image of him on the set which you can check out below.

"Hasta la vista, baby. I want to thank the cast and crew of Terminator Genisys for a fantastic shoot," he wrote. "It was challenging, it was fun, and it was rewarding. From our director to the producers, from the camera team to catering, from visual effects to hair and makeup - we couldn't have done it without you. I can't wait to see our finished project and I know we'll remind the fans why they fell in love with the Terminator. On July 1, 2015, I'll be back."

Co-starring Jason Clarke, Emilia Clarke, Jai Courtney, J.K. Simmons, Dayo Okeniyi, Byung Hun Lee and Matt Smith, Terminator Genisys is directed by Thor: The Dark World's Alan Taylor from a screenplay by Laeta Kalogridis and Patrick Lussier. David Ellison and Dana Goldberg of Skydance Productions are producing. Skydance's Paul Schwake, Annapurna Pictures' Megan Ellison, Kalogridis and Lussier are executive producing.

Paramount Pictures will distribute the film worldwide on July 1, 2015

This is an interesting title. Now granted it's been known for a while that the film would be titled this, but not spelled like this. Hopefully the replacing of the I with a Y ties into the story or else this is kind of a stupid idea.

Samuel L. Jackson is negotiating to replace the formerly-attached Jamie Foxx in Screen Gems' The Black Phantom. First announced back in 2009, The Black Phantom also has Kevin Hart set to headline with Tim Story (Fantastic Four, Ride Along) directing. In the film, which has been scripted by Megan Hinds and Dave Lease, a double-crossed mob hitman turns for help to an unlikely source: the title character, another hitman who was hired to kill him. Jackson starred earlier this year in Reasonable Doubt opposite Dominic Cooper and in the rebooted RoboCop before reprising his role as the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Nick Fury in Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

I really like the casting. I absolutely love Samuel L. Jackson and teaming him up with Kevin Hart is genius. I feel like that this film will be really funny and it could be a sleeper hit when it's released.

Focus Features has debuted the trailer for The Theory of Everything, starring Eddie Redmayne, Felicity Jones, Emily Watson and David Thewlis.

Opening on November 7, this is the extraordinary story of one of the world’s greatest living minds, the renowned astrophysicist Stephen Hawking, who falls deeply in love with fellow Cambridge student Jane Wilde. Once a healthy, active young man, Hawking received an earth-shattering diagnosis at 21 years of age. With Jane fighting tirelessly by his side, Stephen embarks on his most ambitious scientific work, studying the very thing he now has precious little of – time. Together, they defy impossible odds, breaking new ground in medicine and science, and achieving more than they could ever have dreamed.

The film is based on the memoir "Travelling to Infinity: My Life with Stephen," by Jane Hawking, and is directed by Academy Award winner James Marsh (Man on Wire).

Wow I am speechless from watching this trailer. This was an amazing trailer and it makes the film look amazing and it will also be a tear-jerker. Folks this has Oscar-bait written all over it and if the film is great then I can see why.
