My Review of Out of the Furnace

So I recently watched Out of the Furnace and I'm here to bring you my review. So without further ado...

Russell Baze (played by Christian Bale) and his younger brother Rodney Jr. (played by Casey Affleck) live in the economically-depressed Rust Belt, and have always dreamed of escaping and finding better lives. But when a cruel twist of fate lands Russell in prison, his brother is lured into one of the most violent and ruthless crime rings in the Northeast (a mistake that will almost cost him everything). Once released, Russell must choose between his own freedom, or risk it all to seek justice for his brother.

I thought this film was absolutely magnificent. Though very dark and depressing as well as being set against an economically deprived town, the storytelling by screenwriter Brad Ingelsby and Director of the film Scott Cooper is equally magnificent. Bale and Affleck give award worthy performances and Woody Harrellson gives one of the most haunting and horrific performances of the year in playing villainous Curtis DeGroat. The main problems with the film is that it is very depressing with a very dark tone as well as having some lulls in the pacing of the film. Overall I give the film a 9 out of 10.

So ladies and gneltemen what did you think of Out of the Furnace, what would you rate and what did you think of my review? Let me know in the comments and let your voice be heard.
