So I recently watched No Escape and I'm here to bring you my review. So without further ado.....
American businessman Jack Dwyer (played by Owen Wilson) and his family settle into their new home in Southeast Asia. Suddenly finding themselves in the middle of a violent political uprising, they must frantically look for a safe escape as rebels mercilessly attack the city.
This is a really bad movie. From the trailers you get a vibe that a bunch of stuff is going to go down and that this may have been a true story and it actually isn't and not much stuff goes down. It's a pretty dopey and stupid plot that makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. One thing we haven't seen recently is Owen Wilson doing action movies and the last one he did was Starsky & Hutch back in 2004 and he's actually really good in these types of movies. He has really great chemistry with co-star Lake Bell and even the performances of the children were decent. The one thing that was an exciting prospect for the movie was Pierce Brosnan in a possible nice supporting role with a lot of screen time and he ends being on screen for a very short time. Some of the action scenes are pretty spectacular, but it really doesn't bring anything new to the table as an action thriller film. Overall this a film that could've been really good film, but it's lack of originality and mediocre story drops the films quality. I give No Escape a 2 out of 10.
