6-23-14/6-24-14 Movie News

Hello ladies and gentlemen, Since I didn't get to bring you news from yesterday I figured that I would combine today's and yesterday's news (3 stories from each day). So here is some movie news with some of my thoughts and opinions (which will be in BOLD print). So without further ado...

(NOTE: All of these stories come from comingsoon.net)

(6/23/14)

A video from JoBlo reveals some new rumors about the upcoming Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, specifically about what Gal Gadot will be wearing as Wonder Woman in the movie. You can watch the video for all the details below, but be warned there are potential spoilers inside.

In addition, El Mayimbe from Latino-Review tweeted another interesting rumor about Warner Bros.' highly-anticipated sequel, saying: HOT #SDCC2014 RUMOR! The DC/Warners panel will show a hot clip from BATMAN v SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE. FIND SPOT @ HALL H line NOW! RT

This of course is unconfirmed for the time being, but with production chugging along on the film and San Diego Comic-Con starting in just one month, it's definitely something to keep an eye on.  Directed by Zack Snyder, the film also stars Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Amy Adams, Diane Lane, Laurence Fishburne, Jesse Eisenberg, Jeremy Irons, Holly Hunter, Callan Mulvey, Tao Okamoto and Ray Fisher. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice will debut in theaters on May 6, 2016.

This video has a lot of interesting stuff. It's basically things that we've heard before but it's good to hear clarification. All I can say is that this year's comic-con is shaping up to be the best one ever.

While we learned last August that Avi Lerner, Nu Image and Entertainment One were developing a new "Rambo" TV series (that would not star Sylvester Stallone), we haven't heard anything about another movie in a long time. Now comes word from Splendid Film that they have bought the rights to the next film.

Their release stated the following: "Mit 'Rambo V' kehrt Sylvester Stallone in seine Paraderolle zurück. Dieses Mal legt er sich mit dem mexikanischen Kartell an. Stallone, der auch für das Drehbuch verantwortlich ist, beschreibt den neuen Rambo als seine Version von 'No Country for Old Men.' Produzent ist, wie schon beim letzten 'John Rambo,' Avi Lerner ('The Expendables 1-3')." Which translates to: "With 'Rambo V' Sylvester Stallone returns in his iconic role. This time he goes up against a Mexican cartel. Stallone, who has also written the screenplay, describes the new Rambo as his version of 'No Country for Old Men.' Like the last film, 'Rambo V' is produced by Avi Lerner ("The Expendables 1-3")

Stallone last played the role of John Rambo in 2008's Rambo, which earned $113.2 million worldwide on a $50 million budget. He also wrote and directed the film. Then in 2009, the below synopsis for the fifth film was passed around that made it seem like Stallone was adapting James Byron Huggins' novel "Hunter" as the next film in the franchise. John Rambo could track anyone - or anything - on earth. Now the military desperately needs him for a mission that his ultrasensitive instincts tell him he should refuse. A beast is loose somewhere north of the Artic Circle. It has already decimated a secret research facility and annihilated a squad of elite military guards. And the raging creature is headed south toward civilization, ready to wreak bloody devastation.

It's a job that Rambo and his 22-year-old hunting partner, Beau Brady, can't turn down, but they and a team of highly-skilled special forces kill team discover that the prey is a terror beyond their wildest imagination - a half-human abomination created by a renegade agency through a series of outlawed genetic experiments. It has man's cunning, a predator's savageness, and a prehistoric power that has transcended the ages. And even if Rambo and Beau survive its unrelenting hunger for human blood, they'll still have to confront the grim reality that it may have grown immortal.

Really do we need this. I mean look I'm down for another Rambo film (especially if it's like the last one) but not with this plot. I mean this plot for a Rambo film just sounds awful. I'm cool with another film just not with this plot.

Though we've seen them already in the trailers and TV spots for the upcoming film, Paramount Pictures is finally debuting some Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles character posters that fully reveal the titular heroes. Check out Leonardo, Michelangelo, Raphael and Donatello in the photos below.

Debuting in theaters August 8th, the film stars Megan Fox, Alan Ritchson, Jeremy Howard, Pete Ploszek, Noel Fisher, Will Arnett, Danny Woodburn and William Fichtner. In it, darkness has settled over New York City as Shredder and his evil Foot Clan have an iron grip on everything from the police to the politicians. The future is grim until four unlikely outcast brothers rise from the sewers and discover their destiny as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The Turtles must work with fearless reporter April O'Neil (Fox) and her wise-cracking cameraman Vern Fenwick (Arnett) to save the city and unravel Shredder's diabolical plan.

These posters actually look pretty cool. Yes I know the turtles look ridiculous, but they actually grown on me. Unlike other people I'm excited for this film and I can't wait to see it.

The Hollywood Reporter today brings word that Iron Man 3 and Kiss Kiss Bang Bang's Shane Black will write and direct a Predator reboot for 20th Century Fox. According to the trade, Black is directing and writing the treatment for the film, which will then be scripted in full by Fred Dekker (with whom Black worked on Monster Squad).

Black has had a long history with the Predator franchise, having cameoed in the 1987 original. Directed by John McTiernan, Predator starred Arnold Schwarzenegger as the leader of a United States special forces team that comes under attack from an alien entity that prizes the thrill of the hunt above all else. It was followed by a direct sequel, Predator 2, in 1990 before crossing over with Fox's Alien franchise for two additional sequels, Alien vs. Predator and AvP: Requiem. In 2010, Nimrod Antal helmed a reboot with a new feature, Predators.

There's no word on the extent to which the new film will tie into the existing franchise, nor is there any confirmation as to when this reboot might fit into Black's schedule. He's planning to shoot The Nice Guys from his own original screenplay as early as this fall and remains attached to Columbia Pictures' Doc Savage. Check back for further details as they become available.

This is awesome news. I really like Shane Black's work (espepcially Iron Man 3 eventhough some people didn't like it for what ever reason). Also if you haven't then go and check out Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. it'll be good to see a proper Predator movie that could be compared to the original and with a guy who knows the world so well.

Following the debut of four new character posters earlier today (if you missed them, you can check them out in the gallery viewer at the bottom of this page), Paramount Pictures has now debuted the new trailer for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles! Check it out in the player below.

Arriving in theaters on August 8, the film stars Megan Fox, Alan Ritchson, Jeremy Howard, Pete Ploszek, Noel Fisher, Will Arnett, Danny Woodburn and William Fichtner. In Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, darkness has settled over New York City as Shredder and his evil Foot Clan have an iron grip on everything from the police to the politicians.

This trailer is pretty cool. It gives us a lot more action and somewhat of what the story is going to be. The newer posters got me excited for the film and so did this trailer and I can't wait to see the film on August 8th.

Samuel Goldwyn Films has brought online the trailer for Richard Glazer's The Last of Robin Hood, starring Kevin Kline, Susan Sarandon and Dakota Fanning. Check it out in the player below, courtesy of iTunes Movie Trailers.

Errol Flynn, the swashbuckling Hollywood star and notorious ladies man, flouted convention all his life, but never more brazenly than in his last years when, swimming in vodka and unwilling to face his mortality, he undertook a liaison with an aspiring actress, Beverly Aadland. The two had a high-flying affair that spanned the globe and was enabled by the girl's fame-obsessed mother, Florence. It all came crashing to an end in October 1959, when events forced the relationship into the open, sparking an avalanche of publicity castigating Beverly and her mother - which only fed Florence's need to stay in the spotlight. The Last of Robin Hood is a story about the desire for fame and the price it exacts.

The Last of Robin Hood hits theaters on August 29.

This trailer doesn't look all that great. I mean don't get me wrong the story sounds interesting but the trailer sucks. I do believe however that the film looks to be an Oscar contender and I can't wait to see the film.
