6-11-14 Movie News

Hello ladies and gentlemen, here is some movie news with some of my thoughts and opinions (which will be in BOLD print). So without further ado...

(NOTE: All of these stories come from comingsoon.net)

Following this yesterday's poster debut, the first trailer for Peter and Bobby Farrelly's Dumb and Dumber To has arrived! Check it out in the video below.

The sequel stars Jim Carrey, Jeff Daniels, Rachel Melvin, Kathleen Turner, Brady Bluhm, Laurie Holden, Steve Tom and Rob Riggle. In the film, Lloyd and Harry head on a road trip to find a child Harry never knew he had and the responsibility neither should ever, ever be given.

Dumb and Dumber To hits theaters November 14.

This trailer was awesome. I'm a huge fan of the original film (it's one of my favorite comedies of all-time) and the trailer got me excited for the sequel. My only concern for the film is the Farrelly brothers. The reason I say that is because there recent run of movies haven't been the greatest in the world (i.e. The Three Stooges and Movie 43), but they did direct the first one and I hope they can recreate the same magic.

A new still from director David Dobkin's The Judge has debuted at EW, showing off stars Robert Downey Jr. and Robert Duvall in the courtroom. Check it out below!

Also starring Vera Farmiga, Vincent D'Onofrio, Jeremy Strong, Dax Shephard, Billy Bob Thornton, Melissa Leo, Ken Howard, Emma Tremblay, Balthazar Getty, David Krumholtz, Sarah Lancaster, Grace Zabriskie and Denis O'Hare, The Judge stars Downey as big city lawyer Hank Palmer, who returns to his childhood home where his estranged father, the town’s judge (Duvall), is suspected of murder. He sets out to discover the truth and along the way reconnects with the family he walked away from years before.

The Judge hits theaters October 10, 2014.

Eventhough it's just a picture, it still looks awesome. You have to of the greatest actors of all-time starring in the same film and will be on screen a lot together. This looks like and Oscar-worthy role for both Robert Downey Jr. and Robert Duvall.

Dimension Films has released the new trailer for Frank Miller's Sin City: A Dame to Kill For! Opening in theaters on August 22, the film stars Mickey Rourke, Jessica Alba, Josh Brolin, Powers Boothe, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Bruce Willis, Eva Green, Dennis Haysbert, Martin Csokas, Rosario Dawson, Jamie Chung, Jamie King, Alexa Vega, Julia Garner, Christopher Meloni, Jeremy Piven, Ray Liotta, Juno Temple, Christopher Lloyd, Stacy Keach and Jude Ciccolella.

Co-directors Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller reunite to bring Miller's visually stunning "Sin City" graphic novels back to the screen. Weaving together two of Miller's classic stories with new tales, the town's most hard boiled citizens cross paths with some of its more notorious inhabitants.

I love this trailer. I really loved the first film and this one looks awesome. I honestly cannot wait to see this. I just hope that with all of the recasts that people won't get lost in the shuffle of things.

On the heels of the stylish propaganda poster for the film that debuted earlier today (which you can see here), Sony Pictures has released the teaser trailer for directors Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg's new comedy The Interview! You can check it out in the video below.

Starring Rogen, James Franco, Lizzy Caplan, Randall Park and Diana Bang, The Interview follows celebrity interviewer Dave Skylark (Franco), the host of the hit night time talk show "Skylark Tonight." The brain behind Dave's empire is his producer and best friend, Aaron Rapoport (Rogen). Unfulfilled, Aaron yearns to do meaningful work. He scores the chance of a lifetime when he secures an interview for Dave with Kim Jong-Un, the mysterious and ruthless dictator of a nuclear-armed North Korea. As Dave and Aaron prepare to leave for North Korea, they are approached by the CIA and asked to assassinate Kim. They accept the mission, becoming two of the least qualified men ever to assassinate – or interview – the most dangerous man on earth.

The Interview hits theaters on October 10.

Holy crap this film looks hilarious. The story of the film will cause a lot of controversy but honestly if it makes me laugh then i don't care. I'm also glad the the same people who worked on both This Is The End and Neighbors (both films that I love) are doing this film and hopefully it's as good as the last two films.

Though it comes as no big surprise given that J.J. Abrams' Star Wars: Episode VII is already in production there, Pinewood Studios is confirmed to be the home of at least one additional Star Wars film. George Osborne, England's Chancellor of the Exchequer & MP for Tatton, tweeted the following: On set of Episode VII tonight, can announce another #StarWars film will be made in UK. A #LongTermEconomicPlan in a galaxy far far away.

Shortly thereafter, he tweeted the below image of himself standing alongside Abrams, Kathleen Kennedy and a very familiar astromech droid in front what appears to be an in-construction Millennium Falcon set.

This specific project is likely to be the Gareth Edwards-directed 2016 release, but it's also a safe bet that Star Wars has found a home at Pinewood for the forseeable future. In the meantime, we've got Star Wars: Episode VII confirmed to hit the big screen on December 18, 2015 with a cast that includes the returning Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew and Kenny Baker with new additions John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, Lupita Nyong’o, Gwendoline Christie and Max von Sydow.

This is great news. To know that Star Wars will continue to film in London is great simply becuase it keeps Pinewood Studios in business, but it also lowers the cost of the film (it costs less to make a film overseas then domestically). I can't wait for Star Wars Episode 7 and the spin-off films.
