Why are January movies so horrible?

Every year on average there are about 600 films released every year. Of course they are spread out throughout the year (by the studio) depending on how good a movie will do in a certain month on a certain weekend and try not to be in competition with other movies that way  they can make the most money possible. But there is one month in particular where movies literally go to die, critically and financially. That month would be January

Yes January is known as the graveyard month for movies. over the recorded history of the box office. According to numbers by boxofficemojo.com, since 1982 January has only once had a year in which it grossed more than $500 million (the year it did so was in 2009). Below is a list of the other 11 moths and how many times since 1982 they have had a year in which they crossed $500 million

January- 1

February- 10
March- 15
April- 8
May- 19
June- 28
July- 23
August- 16
September- 6
October- 12
November- 24
December- 28

Now I honestly have no idea why January is such a bad month for movies to be released in compared to the others. So here are some possible reasons why January is such a bad month for movies...

1. Awards Season- If you look at it all of these movies are coming out at the time when most people are focusing on the best movies of the previous year and they don't really pay any attention . But you could also say the same thing about February, yet February has had at least 10 years in which the month has grossed over $500 million while dealing with the various award shows. So this isn't a possibility
2. Holidays- If you look at every month there is at least one major Holiday as well as including the summer and winter breaks for all of the people that attend school. But January has New's Year Day yet it still disappoints compared to the other months. Another way to look at it is that the younger population is going back to school, but the same could be said for August yet it has had 16 years in which the month grossed more than $500 million. So this isn't a possibility

Those are a couple of reasons for the possibility of the under performing films of January but here is my main reason why January movies are horrible.

Movie Studios have no faith-Yes I said It movies studios actually have no faith by giving little to advertising until the week of the film's release and placing it in a weekend in which there is a lot of competition  little advertising  in some projects so they place them in the month of January. They send them here because they know that they will make a little bit of money as well as people completely forgetting about them

So there you have it, movies in January are so horrible simply because studios have little or no faith in a film.

So ladies and gentlemen what are you opinions on January movies and why they are so horrible? let me know in the comments and let your voice be heard.
