My Review of Saving Mr. Banks

So I recently watched Saving Mr. Banks and I'm here to bring you my review. So without further ado....

When Walt Disney (played by Tom Hanks)’s daughters begged him to make a movie of their favorite book, P.L. Travers (played by Emma Thompson)’ “Mary Poppins,” he made them a promise—one that he didn’t realize would take 20 years to keep. In his quest to obtain the rights, Walt comes up against a curmudgeonly, uncompromising writer who has absolutely no intention of letting her beloved magical nanny get mauled by the Hollywood machine. But, as the books stop selling and money grows short, Travers reluctantly agrees to go to Los Angeles to hear Disney’s plans for the adaptation. Armed with imaginative storyboards and chirpy songs from the talented Sherman brothers (B.J. Novak and Jason Schwartzman), Walt launches an all-out onslaught on P.L. Travers, but the prickly author doesn't budge. It is only when he reaches into his own childhood that Walt discovers the truth about the ghosts that haunt her, and together they set Mary Poppins free to ultimately make one of the most endearing films in cinematic history.

I really enjoyed this film. The performances are amazing, especially Emma Thompson as P.L. Travers who gives one of her best performance in her career and absolutely deserves to be nominated and win the Academy Award for Best Actress, Tom Hanks does a great job as Walt Disney, but the person who steals the show is Colin Farrell (who plays P.L. Travers father) and he literally gives the greatest performances of his career and he definitely deserves an Academy Award nomination. The visuals of the 1960's are amazing and director John Lee Hancock's vision gives us a wonderful, amazing and heart-filled story. The main is my biggest pet peeve in movies and that's pacing and I say that because there was a point in the film where actually thought the film was going to end and I looked at the time and I was shocked to find out that there was actually 30 minutes left in the film. Anyway I really enjoyed the movie and you should really check it out and overall I give the film a 9.5 out of 10.

So ladies and gentlemen what did you think of Saving Mr. Banks, what would you rate it and what did you think of my review? Let me know in the comments section and let your voice be heard.
