Rush Review

So I watched Rush this past weekend and I'm going to bring you my review. So without further ado.....

Rush comes to us from director Ron Howard and stars Chris Hemsworth, Daniel Bruhl, and Olivia Wilde. The film tells the story of the rivalry between James Hunt (played by Chris Hemsworth) and Niki Lauda (played by Daniel Bruhl), who were Indy Car drivers during the 1970s. The rivalry is shown from its early beginnings during the 1972 Formula 3 season all the to its culmination at the end of the 1976 Formula 1 season (in which most of the events occur). After Lauda wins the 1975 championship Hunt vows to not only win the title but also destroy Lauda in the process, however things begin to take a turn for the worse as no sponsors or race team has decided to take on the baggage of the arrogant Hunt as well as his national headlining divorce from model Suzy Miller (played by Olivia Wilde). After finally signing with a team, Hunt and Lauda's rivalry intensifies with each and every race ultimately coming to a head at the infamous German Grand Prix (known as one of the most dangerous tracks in the racing world). After a failed attempt to get the race cancelled due to the weather conditions of the track, Lauda during the third lap of the race is involved in a major wreck that leaves his car in flames and forcing him to be rushed to the hospital where he has suffered permanent third degree burns and was left with toxic fumes in his lungs. After an intense rehab, Lauda decides to return t the track just six weeks after his near fatal crash. After the completion of the season Hunt and Lauda decide to put there differences behind them and were friends up until Hunts death in 1993.

I absolutely love this film and it brought me back to the film Days of Thunder (if you haven't seen it then check it out on Netflix). The film is perfect, I thought the the racing action was unbelievable, and for someone who nothing about the rivalry coming into the film the storytelling was masterful. Hemsworth and Bruhl give Oscar worthy performances and the film itself deserves some Oscar buzz. Overall i give the film a 10 out of 10.

So ladies and gentlemen what did you think of Rush, what score would you give it, also what did you think of the review, did you like it or dislike it? Let me know in the comments and let your voice be heard.
