My Review of Black or White

So I recently watched Black or White and I'm here to bring you my review. So without further ado...

Elliot Anderson (played by Kevin Costner) is widowed after the car crash death of his wife. Elliot has raised his granddaughter Eloise (played by Jillian Estell) since his daughter died in childbirth. As he struggles with his grief, Elliot's world is turned upside-down when the child's black grandmother Rowena (played by Octavia Spencer) demands that Eloise be brought under the care of her father, Rowena's son, Reggie (played by Andre Holland), is a drug addict whom Elliot blames for the negligence that led to the death of his own daughter. Elliot finds himself deeply entrenched in a custody battle and will stop at nothing to keep his granddaughter from coming under the watch of his reckless son-in-law.

This is a really disappointing film. When you see a film with two academy Award winning actors (Costner and Spencer) staring in a movie together you expect to see a pretty darn good movie, but you get a jumbled up mess that plays the race card way too much. Now don't get me wrong it the film is trying to put across a message that we all need to hear, but it ends up backfiring in all the wrong ways. The back and forth dialogue between Costner and Spencer isn't believable and I was laughing at parts of the film should be really serious. The script doesn't give them much to work with. but Costner and Spencer do their best with little provided to them. Overall it's a film with heart, but its's just not in the right place and it becomes a sloppy laughable mess. I give Black or White a 2 out of 10.

So ladies and gentlemen what did you think of Black or White, what would you rate it and what did you think of my review? Let me know in the comments section below and let your voice be heard.
