So I recently watched Godzilla (2014) and I'm here to bring you my review. So without further ado.......

As the story opens in Japan, we find dedicated nuclear power plant manager Joe Brody (played by Bryan Cranston) so caught up in his work that he forgets it's his birthday. Sending his young son Ford (played by CJ Adams younger version) off to school before reporting to the plant with his wife Sandra (played by Juliette Binoche), who works in the reactor, Joe begins to suspect that some suspiciously patterned seismic activity may be something more sinister than shifting tectonic plates He's right, too.  15-years-later, Ford (played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson) has become a bomb-disposal expert in the U.S. military. He's just returned home to his wife Elle (played by Elizabeth Olsen) and their son Sam (played by Carson Bolde) when he gets word that Joe been arrested in Japan. Long estranged from his father, who wrote off as a conspiracy theorist for his failed efforts to prove the Japanese government was attempting to hide something, Ford nevertheless ventures to Japan to get him out of jail, and reluctantly agrees to join him in venturing to their old home in the quarantined zone. Subsequently taken into custody, the pair end up in the very plant where Joe used to work, and where scientists Dr. Ichiro Serizawa (played by Ken Watanabe) and Vivienne Graham (played by Sally Hawkins) are studying a massive cocoon-like structure that appears to feed on radiation. The situation turns critical when the events of the present begin to mirror the events of the past, and a terrifying winged-creature dubbed a "MUTO" is unleashed. Meanwhile, as the military attempts to devise a plan to destroy the beast, signals indicate that it had been calling out to something before it broke free, and the scientists learn that it has awoken a towering, godlike leviathan that has lied dormant for centuries, and may be mankind's only hope for restoring the balance of nature.

This movie is flat out awesome. The film features some of the best action scenes and visuals of the best of the year. Also the acting done in the film is really great especially by Bryan Cranston, Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Ken Watanabe. I was also greatly pleased with the way Godzilla was portrayed in the film as the big anti-hero which is a wonderful nod to the old 1955 version of Godzilla and also the way he look hich I was completely satisfied with. Now while it has a a few good positives there are some glaring negatives. One negative is the story is the sense that it's sloppy and it's not really all that captivating. Another negative is that throughout the film you don't really care for the characters at all because of the lack of development and emotional attachment. Also the film is real big tease in the sense that Godzilla wasn't in the movie that long at all and it's a film based around him. Overall the film is awesome and it's one of the best films of the year and I give Godzilla (2014) a 8.5 out of 10.
