5-3-14 Movie News

Hello ladies and gentlemen, here is some movie news with some of my thoughts and opinions (which will be in BOLD print). So without further ado...

(NOTE: All of these stories come from screenrant.com)

According to Latino Review, Lou Ferrigno (the former The Incredible Hulk TV star and current voice actor for the Hulk in the films) recently told a local radio station in Minnesota that Marvel is indeed planning another solo Hulk film, saying:

“Now because he saved the day they’re making another solo ‘Hulk’ movie after the second ‘Avengers’ comes out.”

This isn’t, however, the first time Ferrigno has made such a claim. Five months ago, the actor made the same statement in an interview, which was followed by Ruffalo and Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige expressing their excitement about the idea, yet noting there were currently no plans in the works. And with half of Phase Three after The Avengers: Age of Ultron already taking shape with Ant-Man, Captain America 3, and The Avengers 3 on the schedule, we’re inclined to believe them for the time being.

I love Lou Ferrigno but he has no idea what he's talking about. Yes he is the hulk but Kevin Feige isn't telling him one thing. Look could they be working on a new Hulk film in the future yes, but it won't be true unless it's confirmed by Kevin Feige and Marvel Studios. so until then Lou please hush.

THR is reporting that Dark Knight trilogy co-writer and Man of Steel screenwriter David S. Goyer has been recruited to write a new treatment for the Fantastic Voyage remake. It remains to be seen whether the film will now be a contemporary-set sci-fi adventure or something else.

I think this is really interesting. David Goyer is a great writer and can come up with great concepts but he sometimes drops the ball on the overall story. This might be a good avenue for him to go down and it'll help having James Cameron  (who is a sci-fi genius and is also producing the film) watching over his shoulder. But i am very intrigued by this and I can't wait to see the film.

Though fans of the film Dredd are continuing to clamor for a Dredd 2, the film is still a long ways off according to producer Adi Shankar. In a recent interview, Shankar confirmed Karl Urban’s recent assessment that “conversations are happening” around the film, but was quick to point out that those conversations don’t mean a sequel is forthcoming.

Speaking with Dweebcast, the producer said there was still no script for the project and that because the first film was produced independently with a different distributor for every market, getting any traction has been difficult.

I loved the first Dredd and I would love to see a sequel. Do I think there will be one, yes but It won't be in the theaters. It will probably be straight to home video or on VOD. I don't think the film will be successful in theaters simply because the marketing will probably be horrible (as it was for the first film).

It’s been almost five years since Rob Zombie’s critically ravaged sequel Halloween II hit theaters, and despite the mostly negative fan reaction, the film still made enough money to be profitable. Naturally, this led to a sequel almost immediately entering development. While Zombie quickly made it clear that he would under no circumstances return for the follow-up, this did nothing to deter the Weinsteins, who entered negotiations with My Bloody Valentine 3D director Patrick Lussier and writer Todd Farmer.

According to a new report by Bloody Disgusting, The Weinstein Company is once again trying to get Halloween 3D made. Information is currently scarce, and no writer or director is attached to the project, at least not publicly. It is also unclear whether the potential new Halloween film would end up being a sequel to the Zombie films, a reboot/remake of the franchise, or an entry in the original series continuity.

I really don't like the sounds of this. I wasn't a real big fan of the Rob Zombie Halloween films and I honestly don't want this film to happen especially without Zombie. Look I may not have liked the films, but Rob Zombie did do some good things and he's a good fit for the franchise.

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are, according to a story at Deadline, looking to once again star together in a big screen project. Jolie has apparently written an original screenplay that the real-life couple will headine, their first feature together since Doug Liman's Mr. & Mrs. Smith in 2005.

Eventhough we don't know what the film is or what it is about this is still some pretty good news. Both Jolie and Pitt are some of the best actors in the business today and it'll be great to see them on screen togehter again.
