Hello ladies and gentlemen, here is some movie news with some of my thoughts and opinions (which will be in BOLD print). So without further ado...
(NOTE: All of these stories come from comingsoon.net)
One of the biggest surprises for the upcoming Batman vs. Superman film, beyond this week's reveal of the new Batsuit and Batmobile, was the casting of The Social Network and Zombieland star Jesse Eisenberg as Superman's nemesis, Lex Luthor. Since the announcement of his casting in January, there's been little said about Eisenberg's involvement in the film, but in an interview with IGN he did open up about the role, in particular about how different his take will be.
"I don't know the history as well as the people making the movie, so I guess it's up to them to figure out how much they want to separate it from previous incarnations. But I will treat it like it's its own role. There's no way to play the history of the character played by other people, unless you do some kind of wink, but that doesn't seem like a responsible way to act. So I will just do it as though it's a character, in the same way you do a movie like The Double, which is a smaller movie — but you just kind of treat it like a character, and that's probably the best course of action, I think." When asked if he would be going bald for the role, the question on most people's minds, Eisenberg unfortunately was unable to answer, saying: "I'm not allowed to say anything, because of their privacy."
Opening in theaters on May 6, 2016, the anticipated film also stars Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Amy Adams, Diane Lane, Laurence Fishburne, Gal Gadot, Jason Momoa, Jeremy Irons, Holly Hunter, Callan Mulvey, Tao Okamoto and Ray Fisher.
I really like hearing this. It's nice to hear that Eisenberg is making the character his own instead of trying to mimic Gene Hackman or Kevin Spacey. Look was Jesse Eisenberg my first choice no, (it was Bryan Cranston) but I really do like him as a young Lex Luthor and I can't wait to see him on the big screen.
It appears to be official. Following a recent report that he was after the job, Variety is reporting that Star Trek and Star Trek Into Darkness screenwriter/producer Roberto Orci will direct the 13th franchise feature. Orci is joined on the project by screenwriters Patrick McKay and J.D. Payne, who will help him pen the next adventure of the Enterprise crew. There's no announced timeframe for the next Star Trek film as of yet, but the franchise will be celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2016. If the plan is to have a film in theaters to tie into the occasion, expect official announcements on the film in the very near future.
I like hearing this news. I honestly think he's the perfect fit for this simply because he knows the universe set in motion by JJ Abrams. Now the only concern is that this will be his directorial debut so it'll be new territory for him but if he can knock it out of the park then expect to see him get bigger jobs down the road.
Following the announcement earlier today that Edgar Ramirez will be starring in the Bodhi role, director Ericson Core's Point Break remake has announced a release date of August 7, 2015. The re-creation of Kathryn Bigelow's 1991 original is set in the world of international heists and extreme sports and, like the original, involves an undercover FBI agent infiltrating a criminal ring. Luke Bracey and Ray Winstone are also attached to star. The August 7 date puts Point Break up against Sony's Goosebumps and 20th Century Fox's Assassin's Creed.
Wow this is really interesting news. This weekend in 2015 will be packed with films to watch. But I honestly think that this is a bad idea. It's already going to be a competitive weekend in which I think the box offcie that weekend will be won by Assassin's Creed (just a guess without seeing any trailers). I think that this film should come out the weekend before in which there is basically no competition (only films set for July 31st, 2015 is Grimsby and Peregrine's Home for Peculiars) where it will have a better chance for success.
Director, producer and star Elizabeth Banks today revealed the latest addition to the cast of Pitch Perfect 2: Katey Sagal, best known for television shows like "Married with Children" and "Futurama," will play the mother Hailee Steinfeld's character. Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson and Brittany Snow have also been confirmed to reprise their roles from the 2012 original.
The original Pitch Perfect grossed more than $115 million worldwide on a $17 million budget and was one of the top-performing DVD & VOD titles of 2013. The Pitch Perfect soundtrack recently went platinum with over 1 million units sold. The single “Cups” is nearly triple platinum with combined sales of a little less than 3 million units sold. The soundtrack is also the #18 bestselling soundtrack of all time (ahead of Sound of Music, Yellow Submarine & The Great Gatsby); it is also the bestselling soundtrack in digital history, having recently surpassed Twilight. Entering production this month, Pitch Perfect 2 is set for release on May 15, 2015.
This is really good casting. Like I've said before it's never wrong to sign talent and Katey Sagal is talent. This really is a great role for her and It'll be interesting how big of a role that her character will have in the overall story.

This poster looks really awesome. It has a nice badass feel to it and it gets me a little bit more excited for the film. All I can say is that if Michael Bay screws this one up then I'll riot.
