Hello ladies and gentlemen, here is some movie news with some of my thoughts and opinions (which will be in BOLD print). So without further ado...
(NOTE: All of these stories come from comingsoon.net)
Warner Bros-based Alcon Entertainment (Prisoners, The Blind Side, The Book of Eli) has an offer out to Harrison Ford to reprise his celebrated role of Rick Deckard in its Ridley Scott-directed sequel to Blade Runner, it was announced by Alcon co-founders and co-CEOs Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson. Hampton Fancher (co-writer of the 1982 adaptation) and Michael Green are the screenwriters.
While the story is being kept under wraps, it takes place several decades after the conclusion of the 1982 original. State Johnson and Kosove: "We believe that Hampton Fancher and Michael Green have crafted with Ridley Scott an extraordinary sequel to one of the greatest films of all time. We would be honored, and we are hopeful, that Harrison will be part of our project." Alcon Entertainment acquired the film, television and ancillary franchise rights in 2011 from producer Bud Yorkin to produce prequels and sequels to the iconic science-fiction thriller. Yorkin will serve as a producer on the sequel along with Kosove and Johnson. Cynthia Sikes Yorkin will co-produce. Frank Giustra and Tim Gamble, CEOs of Thunderbird Films, will serve as executive producers.
Among its many distinctions, Blade Runner has been singled out as one of the greatest movies of all time by innumerable polls and media outlets, and overwhelmingly as the greatest science-fiction film of all time by a majority of genre publications. Released by Warner Bros., Blade Runner was adapted by Hampton Fancher and David Peoples from Philip K. Dick's novel "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?" and was directed by Ridley Scott following his landmark Alien. The film was nominated for two Academy Awards (Best Visual Effects, and Best Art Direction).Blade Runner was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant." The film was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry in 1993 and is frequently taught in university courses. In 2007, it was named the 2nd most visually influential film of all time by the Visual Effects Society.
Look I'm just going to go ahead and say that Blade Runner is one of the greatest films of all-time. If a sequel were to happen (In which I hope it does) then Harrison Ford needs to be in it. A sequel wouldn't be the same without him and I don't think it will be successful without him either. If Harrison Ford does come back then to make the film better they'll need to get Ridley Scott on board(he directed the first one) and then the film has the chance to be great.
One day after releasing a new poster, Paramount Pictures has released the new trailer for Transformers: Age of Extinction, hitting theaters on June 27 and you can check it out below. Transformers: Age of Extinction is the fourth film in director Michael Bay’s global blockbuster franchise. Mark Wahlberg, Stanley Tucci, Li Bingbing, Kelsey Grammer, Sophia Myles, T. J. Miller, Nicola Peltz, Jack Reynor and Titus Welliver star. The film begins after an epic battle that left a great city torn, but with the world saved. As humanity picks up the pieces, a shadowy group reveals itself in an attempt to control the direction of history… while an ancient, powerful new menace sets Earth in its crosshairs. With help from a new cast of humans, Optimus Prime (voiced by Peter Cullen) and the Autobots rise to meet their most fearsome challenge yet. In an incredible adventure, they are swept up in a war of good and evil, ultimately leading to a climactic battle across the world.
This trailer is awesome. I mean look the past three Transformers films have been action packed and this one looks like a combination of the other three films action. Also Grimlock looks amazing (if you don't know who it is it's the big dinosaur at the end of the trailer). All I can say is I hope Bay doesn't screw this one up or the Dinobots or I'll be pissed.
Walt Disney Pictures has released the teaser trailer for director Kenneth Branagh's Cinderella, coming to theaters on March 13, 2015 and starring Lily James, Richard Madden, Cate Blanchett, Helena Bonham Carter, Holliday Grainger, Sophie McShera, Stellan Skarsgård, Nonso Anozie and Derek Jacobi and you can check it out below
The story of "Cinderella" follows the fortunes of young Ella whose merchant father remarries following the tragic death of her mother. Keen to support her loving father, Ella welcomes her new stepmother Lady Tremaine and her daughters Anastasia and Drisella into the family home. But, when Ella's father suddenly and unexpectedly passes away, she finds herself at the mercy of a jealous and cruel new family. Finally relegated to nothing more than a servant girl covered in ashes, and spitefully renamed Cinderella, Ella could easily begin to lose hope. Yet, despite the cruelty inflicted upon her, Ella is determined to honor her mother's dying words and to "have courage and be kind." She will not give in to despair nor despise those who abuse her. And then there is the dashing stranger she meets in the woods. Unaware that he is really a prince, not merely an employee at the Palace, Ella finally feels she has met a kindred soul. It appears as if her fortunes may be about to change when the Palace sends out an open invitation for all maidens to attend a ball, raising Ella's hopes of once again encountering the charming "Kit." Alas, her stepmother forbids her to attend and callously rips apart her dress. But, as in all good fairy tales, help is at hand as a kindly beggar woman steps forward and, armed with a pumpkin and a few mice, changes Cinderella's life forever.
This is a really nice teaser. It was simple and straight to the point. I'm really excited for this movie because I've really been wanting to see a live action version of Disney's classic films and also becuase of director Kenneth Branagh who is just absolutely amazing and this film fits his style.
After a long time in development, Tim Lebbon's short story Pay the Ghost is headed to the big screen. Variety reports that Nicolas Cage is attached to star in the supernatural thriller. Pay the Ghost kicks off on Halloween night, when a couple's young son is mysteriously abducted. A year later, they begin to sense his presence in frightening ways. A string of terrifying clues draws them to search for the boy throughout New York, where they uncover ancient secrets and discover a vicious, vengeful spirit.
I really like hearing this news. Look I really love Nicholas Cage as an actor and he's been in a rough patch here lately but He's trying to make a comeback (If you haven't seen Joe then go see it now). I know he's easy to make fun of but some people don't realize is that he is an academy award winning actor and he has the acting chops and I hope that this film goes well for him.
Neighbors and Now You See Me star Dave Franco is set to play the lead in The Intern's Handbook, an upcoming adaptation of the just-released thriller novel by Shane Kuhn. The Hollywood Reporter has the news, bringing word that Sony Pictures is developing the property (the book is the first entry in a planned trilogy) as a potential franchise.
Published last month, The Intern's Handbook is officially described as follows: John Lago is a hitman. He has some rules for you. And he's about to break every single one. John Lago is a very bad guy. But he’s the very best at what he does. And what he does is infiltrate top-level companies and assassinate crooked executives while disguised as an intern. Part confessional, part DIY manual, The Intern’s Handbook chronicles John’s final assignment, a twisted thrill ride in which he is pitted against the toughest—and sexiest—adversary he’s ever faced: Alice, an FBI agent assigned to take down the same law partner he’s been assigned to kill.
Original Film's Ori Marmur and Neal Mortiz will produce alongside Circle of Confusion’s David Alpert and Brad Mendelsohn. Kuhn himself will serve as executive producer with Lauren Abrahams, Eric Fineman and Hannah Minghella overseeing for the studio.
This film sounds really interesting. I also like the casting of Dave Franco. This film sounds like a mix of the old gangster films of the 70's as well as a few elements of The Departed. I'm really interested in this movie and I can't wait to see it.
So there you have it ladies and gentlemen, which of these stories peaked your interest or was there another story that interested you? Let me know in the comments section below and let your voice be heard.
