My Review of Gone Girl

So I recently watched Gone Girl and I'm here to bring you my review. so without further ado.......

A man in a blue shirt standing by a body of water, wispy clouds in the blue sky above. A woman's eyes are superimposed on the sky. Near the bottom of the image there are horizontal distortion error lines.

On the occasion of his fifth wedding anniversary, Nick Dunne (played by Ben Affleck) reports that his beautiful wife, Amy (played by Rosamund Pike), has gone missing. Under pressure from the police and a growing media frenzy, Nick's portrait of a blissful union begins to crumble. Soon his lies, deceits and strange behavior have everyone asking the same dark question: Did Nick Dunne kill his wife?

This film was simply amazing. The film is an intense thriller that will keep you guessing the entire time even if you read the best-selling book. The performances in the film are spectacular as Rosamund Pike and Ben Affleck control the screen and absolutely deserve Oscar nominations (more the former than the latter) and Rosamund Pike is currently my frontrunner for Best Actress. Director David Fincher works his magic as he is able to mix a murder mystery and a psychological thriller together and with this ability he is almost guaranteed to receive an Oscar nomination if not a win. The real tone stter of the film is the score composed by Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross who are frequent collaborators with director David Fincher. But the real standout of the film is the performance of Tyler Perry who has some of the best dialogue of the film and he wasn't overly annoying like he usually is. Speaking of  dialogue, Gillian Flynn (who also wrote the book) did a spectacular job at writing the script in her first attempt. The film also does a great job of adding a few well-placed "funny moments" that help lighten the mood of the film, but also keep the film in a very serious tone. Overall this film was perfect in every sense of the word and it is as of right now my favorite film of 2014. I give Gone Girl a 10 out of 10.

So ladies and gentlemen what did you think of Gone Girl, what would you rate it and what did you think of my review? Let me know in the comments section below and let your voice be heard.
