My Review of Victor Frankenstein

So I recently watched Victor Frankenstein and I'm here to bring you my review. So without further ado...

Victor Frankenstein 2015.jpg

While searching for animal body parts at a London circus, radical scientist Victor Frankenstein (played by James McAvoy) meets gifted surgeon Igor Strausman (played by Daniel Radcliffe). Not only does the brilliant doctor offer Strausman his friendship, but also a chance to work with him on groundbreaking research that could change the world forever. When Victor's experiments with life and death go too far, only Igor can bring him back from the brink of madness and save him from his monstrous creation.

This film is somewhat decent. One of the things you need to do when retelling an iconic story like Frankenstein you have to be original enough to wear you aren't making a carbon copy, but still stay true to the source material and the film does that, but the execution just wasn't that great. Max Landis (who is one of my favorite screenwriters) did a fantastic job of making the film and unique and it makes an omage to the original film, but the director just made a mockery of that and the film was just too silly and it doesn't know what type of film it wants to be. The performances of James McAvoy and Daniel Radcliffe are really fantastic and do the best they can with the direction are given. The visuals in the film are pretty fantastic although their are a few times were the effects are pretty cheap and just look silly. Back on to Max Landis, he is a huge comic book fan and if you haven't heard his pitch for Man of Steel 2 then you need to check it out here and you can tell that his passion for comic books translated to this script and some of those silly moments that worked were because of Max Landis. Overall this film has a lot of great moments, but the story could have been executed a little bit better by the director. I give Victor Frankenstein a 5 out of 10.

So ladies and gentlemen what did you think of Victor Frankenstein, what would you rate it and what did you think of my review? Let me know in the comments section below and let your voice be heard.
