My Review of Carol

So I recently watched Carol and I'm here to bring you my review. So without further ado..............

Carol (film) POSTER.jpg

Therese Belivet (played by Rooney Mara) spots the beautiful, elegant Carol (played by Cate Blanchett) perusing the doll displays in a 1950s Manhattan department store. The two women develop a fast bond that becomes a love with complicated consequences.

This is a magnificent film. One thing you look for in a film is how good the performances are and how likable the characters are because if both of those things go wrong then you've lost the audience. Luckily this film has two of the best actresses on the planet in the film together and they are perfect. Rooney Mara and Cate Blanchett have terrific chemistry between each other as they play two emotionally complex characters that make you feel for them as they go through life trying to hide their love for each other. They both give stellar performances that will definitely be in the conversation for Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress at this year's Oscars. Todd Haynes does a masterful job at directing this film and it's easily his best work to date and they way he is able to capture the emotional aspects of each character is just fantastic very hard to do in today's age. Phyillis Nagy also does a great job of giving these characters life and she was able to write them in a way where you are routing for the romance to last despite all of the criticism. The one problem in the film is the supporting cast and while it is filled with such actors like Kyle Chandler, Sarah Paulson and Cory Micheal Smith, they just don't do anything for the film and they often at time become annoying and they take away from what could've been a way to add more time between Mara and Blanchett. Overall this film is fantastic in every sense of the word and it has two of the best performances of the year by far. I give Carol a 9 out of 10.

So ladies and gentlemen what did you think of Carol, what would you rate it and what did you think of my review? Let me know in the comments section below and let your voice be heard.
