So I recently watched Macbeth (2015) and I'm here to bring you my review. So without further ado...
After murdering King Duncan (played by David Thewlis) and seizing the throne, Macbeth (played by Michael Fassbender) becomes consumed with guilt and paranoia as the tyrannical ruler of Scotland.
This was a fantastic film. Shakespeare films are tough films to make and it takes a special person to make those films, but in this case director Justin Kurzel does the job. This guy sticks to source material so well and it's easily one of the best adaption of a Shakespeare play that's ever been put on the big screen. Micheal Fassbender does a fantastic job of capturing the true essence of the character of Macbeth and if he hadn't already given the performance of a lifetime in Steve Jobs then he would easily get a Best Actor nomination at next years Oscars. Another great performance comes the talented Marion Cotillard who always gives a fantastic performance and the chemistry between her and Fassbender is just simply amazing. The film is also just absolutely gorgeous and it's one of the most visually stimulating movies to come out this year. The great thing about this amazing trio is that they will all be teaming up again for the highly anticipated Assassin's Creed film coming out next year and hopefully it can be as good as this film. The other performances in the film actually hurt the film because the other characters are just too silly and cartoonish for such a serious film. The dialogue gets a little to Shakespearean and to do a Shakespeare film in modern times you have pretty much throw that type of dialogue out. Overall this is a fantastic film with spectacular performances and it does a great job of sticking to the source material, but that holds the film back from being greater than it could have been. I give Macbeth (2015) a 9 out of 10.
So ladies and gentlemen what did you think of Macbeth (2015), what would you rate it and what did you think of my review? Let me know in the comments section below and let your voice be heard.
