My Review of Krampus

So I recently watched Krampus and I'm here to bring you my review. So without further ado........

When his dysfunctional family clashes over the holidays, young Max (played by Emjay Anthony) is disillusioned and turns his back on Christmas. Little does he know, this lack of festive spirit has unleashed the wrath of Krampus: a demonic force of ancient evil intent on punishing non-believers. All hell breaks loose as beloved holiday icons take on a monstrous life of their own, laying siege to the fractured family’s home and forcing them to fight for each other if they hope to survive.

This was a really silly, yet stupid movie. The basic premise of the film is one of the more interesting ones that has ever come across the silver screen and it had a lot of potential. Their are a lot of funny moments to go along with quite a few creepy and terrifying moments that will make you jump out of your seat. The performances are quite good and they are the stereotypical performances you see in a horror film. With it being a horror film set at Christmas, there are quite a few throwbacks to 80's horror films (mainly Gremlins) and to that note there a little "helpers'" from Krampus and they were made to be the comedic relief and they just turned out to be annoying. Also this film did a great job of hiding Krampus himself and that's not a good thing. It's like they took out a page of the most recent Godzilla film and they just built up suspense that didn't payoff in the end. There was also a lot of predictable moments and cliches that you see in horror films and that's not what you want from an original property. I'm really curious to see how Kevin Smith will handle the material when his Krampus movie comes out in the near future. Overall the film just didn't live up to the potential and it had way too many campy and unoriginal moments. I give Krampus a 4 out of 10.

So ladies and gentlemen what did you think of Krampus, what would you rate it and what did you think of my review? Let me know in the comments section below and let your voice be heard.
