Hello ladies and gentlemen, here is some movie news with some of my thoughts and opinions (which will be in BOLD print). So without further ado...
(NOTE: All of these stories come from comingsoon.net)'
Keanu Reeves returns to screens with a vengeance later this month in the outstanding action thriller John Wick, but he also has some long-brewing projects waiting in the wings, but the most anticipated one is Bill & Ted 3. In an interview with comingsoon.net Reeves had this to say: We have to get the script in the right place. Chris and Ed have been working really hard over a couple of years to get the draft in the right place. What is the reason to make this movie besides nostalgia or the love of these characters. Where can they be in their life that can be a story that is worth telling or has something in it and is funny? They have that. It didn't help that the first script that they brought in was probably budgeted at $150 million dollars. I don't know if Bill & Ted carry that much weight. Part of the argument is that it's not that popular internationally, that's where so much of the funding for movies comes from these days. They've worked on the script and the budget, just trying to get the right script and then get the business side wrapped up, financiers and rights, all the show business stuff.
I really love these comments. I say that becuase Keanu Reeves gets it. He knows what it will take to get the film made and how to get it right. This project has been rumored for a long time and for a while I didn't think it would get made, but nothing is confirmed just yet. I'm a huge fan of these characters and I hope the third film gets made.
Latino Review has brought us some interesting new tidbits about two of Warner Bros.' upcoming DC films, including the highly-anticipated Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice follow-up, Justice League. The site says that the rumored villain for the upcoming team movie will be none other than classic Superman villain Brianiac. In the latest episode of The SchmoesKnow Network's Meet The Movie Press, LR's El Mayimbe noted that this is just a rumor at the time but that it has ties to 2013's Man of Steel due to the Kryptonian beacon that Clark activated. The item, which drew General Zod to Earth in that film, was apparently "also heard" by Brainiac, which will lead him to our planet in Justice League.
Another, DC movie that Latino Review has rumors on is the upcoming Suicide Squad film, which was recently revealed might have End of Watch and Fury director David Ayers at the helm. LR reports that the line-up for the supervillain team will consist of the super strong Blockbuster, the self-replicating Multiplex (who will appear in the second episode of The Flash), the speedster Jaculi (who only survived two issues on the team), the illusion-casting Mindboggler, the original Captain Boomerang George Harkness (set to appear on Arrow this season), the animal mimicker Vixen, and the face of Task Force X, Floyd Lawton aka Deadshot (who was previously played by Michael Rowe on "Arrow.")
These are some pretty interesting rumors. Now let me be clear these are rumors not fact so tkae everything I say with a grain of salt. Ok let's start with the first one and I absolutely think that this is very likely. Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice will have Lex Luthor be somewhat of a villain as much as possible so he'll be around in the Justice League film and he may be an antihero to help stop Braniac who is a very formidable foe. I would also like to see Braniac on the big screen after we were robbed of him being on the big screen in the film that never happened Superman Lives. Now for the second rumor I really like this line-up for the Suicide Squad. It's missing Deathstroke but other than that I'm really liking what I'm seeing and hearing.
One of the unquestioned highlights of February's hit The LEGO Movie was Will Arnett voicing a pompous Batman, and audiences are about to get a lot more of him as Heat Vision reports that Warner Bros. is readying a solo movie for the character to be released in 2017. Yes, you read that right, that was the same release year as the LEGO Movie sequel, to be directed by that film's animation supervisor Chris McKay, but Warners is now fast-tracking the solo LEGO Batman film instead with McKay at the helm and Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter creator Seth Grahame-Smith drafting the script.
The LEGO Batman movie will now likely take the May 26, 2017 date and The LEGO Movie sequel will now be pushed back to after 2017. Will Arnett, who parodied Christian Bale's gravelly Batman vocals to perfection, will return to voice the Caped Crusader, and possibly one-up the songmanship on his heavy metal lyrics: "Darkness! No parents!" Original directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller will again produce alongside Roy Lee, Dan Lin, who are simultaneously supervising Ninjago for a September 23, 2016 release.
This is great news to hear. In my honest opinion Will Forte's Batman stole the the movie and had the best moments. There are so many different possibilities with this film and it will be really cool to be a Lego Batman cinematic universe on the big screen.
Jackie Earle Haley has joined the cast of London Has Fallen, the upcoming sequel to last year's Olympus Has Fallen. The Wrap has the news, reporting that the Watchmen star will join Gerard Butler, Aaron Eckhart, Angela Bassett, Morgan Freeman, Melissa Leo and Radha Mitchell for the action sequel.
Written by Creighton Rothenberger & Katrin Benedikt and Christian Gudegast, London Has Fallen picks up in London, where the British Prime Minister has passed away under mysterious circumstances. His funeral is a must-attend event for leaders of the Western world. But what starts out as the most protected event on earth, turns into a deadly plot to kill the world's most powerful leaders and unleash a terrifying vision of the future. Only three people have any hope of stopping it: the President of the United States, his formidable secret service head (Butler), and an English MI-6 agent who rightly trusts no one. Haley, who recently starred in RoboCop, will play a character named Deputy Chief Mason. London Has Fallen hits the big screen October 2, 2015.
This is really great casting. Jackie Earle Haley is one of the most underrated actors in Hollywood and putting him the movie is amazing. I have a weird feeling that he'll either be Butler's sidekick or he could up being the film (I'm hoping for the latter). I really enjoyed Olympus Has Fallen and I;m looking forward to this film.
Billy Crystal is apparently tired of sharing the animated spotlight with his Monsters, Inc. co-stars and has found a cartoon franchise to call his own. Variety is reporting that Crystal will co-write, co-produce and star in an adaptation of author Eva Ibbotson's 1979 kid lit classic Which Witch? for The Jim Henson Co. Crystal will likely play the lead role of a dark wizard named Arriman the Awful, master of smighting and blighting, who seeks a wife from the town of Todcaster's seven witches by holding a contest to see which can perform the blackest act of magic. A white witch named Belladonna, who secretly loves Arriman but cannot perform black magic, uses an orphan named Terrence Mugg and his pet worm to conjure a dark spell to win the wizard's heart.
Brian Henson will direct the picture and produce alongside his sister Lisa Henson as well as Samantha Sprecher and Crystal, who co-wrote the picture with Michael Feldman. The City Slickers comedian and frequent Oscar host will be heavily involved with production, which is expected to last at least two years. "When Brian Henson called me about it, I didn’t know the book," Crystal said. "But it’s a fantastic story, and I brought in a wonderful writer, Michael Feldman, and we’ve written a terrific and inventive script. I’ll play a character as well, which will be great fun because he actually has two eyes."
This is really great news. Billy Crystal is one of the funniest people on the planet and he has knocked it out of the park in previous animated films. The film sounds really interesting and casting Crystal has peaked my interest in the film. I'm a huge fan of Brian and Lisa Henson's fathers work (as we all should) and they've done a really great job following in their fathers footsteps.
So there you have it ladies and gentlemen, which of these stories peaked your interest or was there another story that interested you? Let me know in the comments section below and let your voice be heard.
