10-1-14 Movie News

Hello ladies and gentlemen, here is some movie news with some of my thoughts and opinions (which will be in BOLD print). So without further ado...

(NOTE: All of these stories come from comingsoon.net)

Paramount Pictures have debuted a new trailer for Christopher Nolan's Interstellar. Fans can find the new trailer for the film by searching for Earth's International Space Station in the Space Hunt site and you can check out the new trailer below. Interstellar chronicles the adventures of a group of explorers who make use of a newly discovered wormhole to surpass the limitations on human space travel and conquer the vast distances involved in an interstellar voyage. Interstellar will be released in 70mm IMAX film, 70mm film and 35mm film formats on Wednesday, November 5, two days ahead of its nationwide release. The advance showings will play in select theaters in more than 225 locations across the U.S. and Canada. The film stars Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain, Ellen Burstyn, John Lithgow, Michael Caine, Casey Affleck, Wes Bentley, Bill Irwin, Mackenzie Foy, Topher Grace and David Gyasi.

This was a pretty chilling trailer. It really showed a lot of emotional moments and it gave us just a little bit more insight to what the film is about. All I can say is that the secretive marketing put behind this film is amazing and I'm really anxious for this film to get here.

Despite saying last month that "there’s no plan for a fourth ‘Iron Man,'" Tony Stark himself, Robert Downey Jr., seems to be hinting at more appearances as the character in the future. When asked in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter about his future as the Marvel hero, he offered a more cryptic answer.

"I'm sure we'll ride that thing. You've got to surf that all the way in to shore," Downey said. "I think I was at the forefront of something that was coming into being, and I think it has carried me as much as I have informed it. That's the healthy way to look at it. It's so easy to become inflated by the successes, but what they really are are long, strong trends. It's just another wave."

Downey is currently only signed on for the upcoming Avengers: Age of Ultron and the untitled and undated third Avengers film, but given his frankness in last month's interview, could he be referring to future appearances as Tony Stark only in Marvel's "Avengers" films? Or has the House of Ideas been planning a fourth venture for the old shellhead all along?

These are some pretty interesting comments. Look I really like Downey in the role of Tony Stark and it has rejuvenated his career. With that being said he is getting a bit old (he's 49 right now) so I don't know how much longer he wants to be in the role. I will say that Marvel will back dump-trucks full of money to his mansion and he'll take it so I think it's safe to say that we'll see RDJ in this role for a little while longer.

Those curious how Eddie Redmayne (Les Miserables) took on the physically and intellectually challenging role of renowned astrophysicist Stephen Hawking need look no further than the new trailer for biopic The Theory of Everything and you can check it out below.

Inspired by the memoir "Travelling to Infinity: My life with Stephen" written by his ex-wife Jane Hawking, the film tells the story of one of the world's greatest living minds who falls deeply in love with fellow Cambridge student Jane Wilde (Felicity Jones). Once a healthy, active young man, Hawking received an earth-shattering diagnosis of ALS at 21 years of age. With Jane fighting by his side, Stephen embarks on his most ambitious scientific work, studying the very thing he now has precious little of – time. Together, they defy impossible odds, breaking new ground in medicine and science, and achieving more than they could ever have dreamed.

"The story of Stephen dwarfs the illness," Redmayne told Yahoo. "For him, it is of no importance. He didn’t ever want to see a doctor again after he was diagnosed. He is someone that lives forward and lives optimistically. So, for me, what this film was about was an unconventional love story, a film about loving in all its guises."

Directed by James Marsh (Man on Wire), The Theory of Everything also stars Charlie Cox, Emily Watson, Simon McBurney, and David Thewlis, with Focus Features giving the movie a limited release on November 7.

This was a pretty great trailer. It showed a lot more emotional moments than the previous trailer and it almost made me tear up. This will be a real interesting story to see even if you don't agree with what Hawking believed in. The film is basically Oscar bait and I'm really curious to see how it turns out.

After a massive fan effort that involved slinging a billion birds within the game at UnlocktheFlock.com, the full voice cast and first image from Rovio and Sony Pictures' Angry Birds animated movie has been unlocked you can check out the pic and the impressive ensemble below. The main trio of Angry Birds will be led by Jason Sudeikis (Horrible Bosses, We're the Millers) as Red, a bird with a temper, with Josh Gad (Frozen) as the speedy Chuck and Danny McBride (This is the End, "Eastbound & Down") voicing the volatile Bomb.

Supporting these three comedy superstars is Bill Hader (Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs) as a pig, Maya Rudolph (Bridesmaids) as Matilda and Peter Dinklage ("Game of Thrones") will play Mighty Eagle. Also lending their voices to the video game adaptation are Keegan-Michael Key ("Key & Peele"), Kate McKinnon ("SNL"), Tony Hale ("Arrested Development"), Ike Barinholtz (Neighbors), Hannibal Buress ("Broad City"), Cristela Alonzo ("Cristela"), Jillian Bell (22 Jump Street), Danielle Brooks ("Orange is the New Black"), singer Romeo Santos and YouTube stars Smosh (Ian Andrew Hecox and Anthony Padilla).

John Cohen, producer of the film said, "I'm extremely proud of this cast. Not only do we have Jason, Josh, Danny, Bill, Maya, and Peter bringing these characters to life, but they're surrounded by an all-star ensemble of emerging comedic talent – these are some of the funniest people out there today, and we're thrilled to have them all on board." In its various formats, the "Angry Birds" game has been downloaded over two billion times as of this year, with an animated series "Angry Birds Toons" that has collectively tallied three-billion views on numerous platforms. Written by "The Simpsons" alum Jon Vitti and directed by Fergal Reilly and Clay Kaytis, the Angry Birds movie is set to debut in the US on July 1, 2016.

This is an impressive cast. It has a great mix of really talented actors and some great comedic actors. Look I really enjoy the game Angry Birds, but I'm not really that excited about this film. Now I will say that kids will eat this up and it will be successful at the box office, but critically I'm predicting that it won't turn out to well.

Ridley Scott's upcoming biblical epic Exodus: Gods and Kings has a brand-new trailer for the retelling of the Old Testament story about Moses (Christian Bale) taking on Ramses, Pharaoh of Egypt, as played by Joel Edgerton. The December 12 release co-stars Aaron Paul, John Turturro, Sigourney Weaver and Ben Kingsley. Exodus: Gods and Kings is the story of one man's daring courage to take on the might of an empire. Using state of the art visual effects and 3D immersion, Scott brings new life to the story of the defiant leader Moses (Christian Bale) as he rises up against the Egyptian Pharaoh Ramses (Joel Edgerton), setting 600,000 slaves on a monumental journey of escape from Egypt and its terrifying cycle of deadly plagues.

This was an awesome trailer, It showed us a lot more of the story and some of the big visual moments in the film. Now I know a lot of people are complaining a lot whether it be the cast or the story, but all I can say is that it's Hollywood and they are going to do whatever they want with the film. Now my only concern is Ridley Scott simply becuase his last few outings have been quite disastrous (The Counselor and Prometheus), but I'm willing to give him one final chance.
