Hello ladies and gentlemen, here is some movie news with some of my thoughts and opinions (which will be in BOLD print). So without further ado...

Warner Bros. Pictures has revealed the trailer for Ron Howard's In the Heart of the Sea, starring Chris Hemsworth, Benjamin Walker, Cillian Murphy, Ben Whishaw, Tom Holland, Brendan Gleeson and Jordi Molla. The film opens in theaters on March 13, 2015. In the winter of 1820, the New England whaling ship Essex was assaulted by something no one could believe: a whale of mammoth size and will, and an almost human sense of vengeance. The real-life maritime disaster would inspire Melville's Moby-Dick. But that told only half the story. In the Heart of the Sea reveals the encounter's harrowing aftermath, as the ship's surviving crew is pushed to their limits and forced to do the unthinkable to stay alive. Braving storms, starvation, panic and despair, the men will call into question their deepest beliefs, from the value of their lives to the morality of their trade, as their captain searches for direction on the open sea and his first mate still seeks to bring the great whale down.
This was an awesome trailer. I hadn't really heard about the film, but now seeing the trailer and learning that Chris Hemsworth and Ron Howard are working together again (they worked amazingly well togehter on Rush). This film looks to be an early Oscar contender for the 88th Academy Awards (take place in 2016) and it'll be great to see a modern telling of the story that inspired the book Moby Dick on the big screen.
20th Century Fox has released the new poster for director Shawn Levy's Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb, starring Ben Stiller, Robin Williams, Owen Wilson, Steve Coogan, Ricky Gervais, Dan Stevens, Rebel Wilson and Ben Kingsley and you can check it out below. Get ready for the wildest and most adventure-filled "Night at the Museum" ever as Larry (Ben Stiller) spans the globe, uniting favorite and new characters while embarking on an epic quest to save the magic before it is gone forever. Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb opens in theaters on December 19.
This is a pretty cool poster. It shows all of main characters in the front with the rest of the cast in the back to signify that this is the end of the franchise. I also like how they put Robin Williams towards the front and hopefully he has a bigger role in this one than he did in the last film. I really enjoyed the first two film and I'm really looking forward to the film mainly because of Robin Williams.
Speaking of Shawn Levy, we learned earlier this year that Warner Bros. is looking to bring the hit video game Minecraft to the big screen. Now, Deadline reveals that Real Steel and Night at the Museum helmer is in talks to direct. Minecraft, which, earlier this year, passed 100 million registered users, is officially described as follows: Minecraft is a game about breaking and placing blocks. At first, people built structures to protect against nocturnal monsters, but as the game grew players worked together to create wonderful, imaginative things. It can also be about adventuring with friends or watching the sun rise over a blocky ocean. It’s pretty. Brave players battle terrible things in The Nether, which is more scary than pretty. You can also visit a land of mushrooms if it sounds more like your cup of tea.
This is a pretty interesting choice. Levy is mainly known for being a comedic director and I feel that's what the Minecraft film will be mainly about. Listen as a guy who has played Minecraft and I cna just tell you that there are plenty of ways to make a film about this and after doubting The Lego Movie and it proving me wrong, I will give this film the benefit of the doubt.
Universal Pictures has debuted the new trailer for director Angelina Jolie's Unbroken, opening Christmas Day and starring Jack O'Connell, Domhnall Gleeson, Miyavi, Garrett Hedlund and Finn Wittrock. Unbroken is an epic drama that follows the incredible life of Olympian and war hero Louis "Louie" Zamperini (Jack O'Connell) who, along with two other crewmen, survived in a raft for 47 days after a near-fatal plane crash in WWII - only to be caught by the Japanese Navy and sent to a prisoner-of-war camp. Adapted from Laura Hillenbrand's ("Seabiscuit: An American Legend") enormously popular book, Unbroken brings to the big screen Zamperini's unbelievable and inspiring true story about the resilient power of the human spirit.
This was a great and powerful trailer. It's not much different than the first trailer, but it's still pretty powerful. The film looks beautiful and it will receive a few Oscar nominations early next year including Best Picture, Director, Cinematography and some other technical awards. This is Angelina Jolie's film debut and it looks as if she has knocked one out of the park.
Universal Studios and Blumhouse Productions have announced today that the upcoming big screen reboot of Jem and the Holograms has a release date and it will hit theaters on October 23, 2015! Directed by G.I. Joe: Retaliation's Jon M. Chu, the film stars Aubrey Peeples as Jem, Stefanie Scott as Kimber, Hayley Kiyoko as Aja, Aurora Perrineau as Shana and Ryan Guzman as Rio, along with Juliette Lewis and Molly Ringwald, whose roles are being kept secret for the time being. Created by Christy Marx, the original "Jem and the Holograms" series was a joint collaboration from Hasbro, Marvel and Sunbow Productions. It began airing in 1985 and ran for three seasons, following the adventures of the titular Jem, the musical superstar alter ego of a young woman named Jerrica Benton who, with the help of a holographic computer called Synergy, is able to clandestinely perform rock concerts with her friends.
This film is actually happening isn't it. Look I never watched the cartoon the film is based off of, but I have read about it and it seems like the stupidest idea for movie next to the Tetris movie. Universal can make this, but they can't make me a King Kong vs. Godzilla movie. But putting that aside this is release date isn't a bad one. It will have stiff competition in the form of The Conjuring 2 and Socuts vs. Zombies, but this will offer counter-programming and it will probably end up no better than 3rd at the weekend box office upon it's release. Look I'm not looking forward to the film at all, but we haven't seen a trailer so that's the last chance Universal has to impress me and convince me to care about the film.
