My Review of Foxcatcher

So I recently watched Foxcatcher and I'm here to bring you my review. So without further ado.....

Foxcatcher First Teaser Poster.jpg

Olympic Gold Medal-winning wrestler Mark Schultz (played by Channing Tatum) sees a way out from the shadow of his more celebrated wrestling brother Dave (played by Mark Ruffalo) and a life of poverty when he is summoned by eccentric multi-millionaire John du Pont (played by Steve Carell) to move onto his estate and train for the 1988 Seoul Olympics. Desperate to gain the respect of his disapproving mother, du Pont begins "coaching" a world-class athletic team and, in the process, lures Mark into dangerous habits, breaks his confidence and drives him into a self-destructive spiral.

This film is amazing. It was one of my most anticipated films of the year and it met my high expectations. The performances in the film are alone good enough to make this film an Oscar contender this year. Carell , Tatum and Ruffalo all give the best performances of their careers. Steve Carell becomes John du Pont and he really controls the film and he's a lock for an Oscar nomination. The person who steals the film though is Channing Tatum who has vastly improved as an actor and he is going to be a mainstay in the acting business for a long time with he potential to get some Oscars in the near future, but not this year. The film is a drama but it plays out more like a very creepy horror film and if you know the story behind the film then you'll know why I am saying this. That's also the problem with the film it has a very dark ominous tone to it and it has a slow pace eventhough the pace is appropriate for the film some may find it very boring. Overall the film is a must-see for the performances alone and this is an Oscar caliber film. I give Foxcatcher a 9.5 out of 10.

So ladies and gentlemen what did you think of my review, what would you rate it and what did you think of my review? Let me know in the comments section below and let your voice be heard.
