My Review of the RoboCop Trilogy

In honor of the new RoboCop film being released, I thought it would be fitting to review the original RoboCop trilogy. So without further ado...

After being murdered by a ruthless gang of criminals police officer Alex Murphy (played by Peter Weller) is subsequently revived by the malevolent mega-corporation Omni Consumer Products (OCP) as a superhuman cyborg law enforcer known as "RoboCop".

This film is amazing in every single way. Peter Weller does an amazing job as Alex Murphy/RoboCop and he has gone down as the actor to play one of the most iconic figures in film history. The supporting cast which includes Nancy Allen, Ronny Cox and Kurtwood Smith is fantastic and the film is really violent and it is a perfect satire on how the american culture was in the 1980's. Overall I give RoboCop a 10 out of 10.

Cyborg Detroit policeman Alex Murphy (played by Peter Weller) is the sole officer on duty after the police force goes on strike against evil conglomerate Omni Consumer Products and its push to foreclose on the city of Detroit. Aside from dealing with the normal level of crime, Murphy must take on crime boss Cain (played by Tom Noonan), the spread of a dangerous new drug called "Nuke" and the attempt by psychologist Dr. Juliette Faxx (played by Belinda Bauer) to create another RoboCop using a hardened criminal.

I just want to know how in the world do you go from one of the greatest sci-fi films of all-time to this piece of crap film. The only bright spot in the film is Peter Weller as Alex Murphy/RoboCop. How can you have a movie about RoboCop not even be about RoboCop and focus on the Alex Murphy storyline. Then when you focus on the Alex Murphy storyline you can't even try to focus on it when there is so much violence going on. The movie got way to sappy and it's just flat out horrible. Overall I give RoboCop 2 a 0.5 out of 10.

RoboCop3.jpg

The mega corporation Omni Consumer Products is still bent on creating their pet project, Delta City, to replace the rotting city of Detroit. Unfortunately, the inhabitants of the area have no intention of abandoning their homes simply for desires of the company. To this end, OCP have decided to force them to leave by employing a ruthless mercenary army to attack and harass them. An underground resistance begins and in this fight, RoboCop (played by Robert John Burke) must decide where his loyalties lie.

This is were the franchise was completely destroyed and lost a lot of credibility. Peter Weller knew where the franchise was headed and got out of dodge. The studio replaced him with relatively unknown actor Robert John Burke who tries his best to replace Weller, and he fails miserably. The visual effects look tacky and he whole plot of the film is just really stupid and the film would have been better off being released straight to home video then having to let the franchise complete its turn to the dark side. Overall I give RoboCop 3 a 0 out of 10.

Overall Trilogy Rating 3.5 out of 10
