My Review of Map to the Stars

So I recently watched Map to the Stars and I'm here to bring you my review. So without further ado...

Stafford Weiss (played by John Cusack) is a famed TV self-help therapist with an A-list celebrity clientele. Meanwhile, Cristina Weiss (played by Olivia Williams) has her work cut out managing the career of their disaffected child-star son, Benjie (played by Evan Bird), a fresh graduate of rehab at age 13. Yet unbeknownst to them, another member of the Weiss family has arrived in town - mysteriously scarred and tormented Agatha (played by Mia Wasikowska), just released from a psych ward and ready to start again. She soon works her way into a friendship with a limo driver (played by Robert Pattinson) and becomes personal assistant to unraveling actress Havana Segrand (played by Julianne Moore), who is beset by the ghost of her legendary mother, Clarice (played by Sarah Gadon). But Agatha is on a quest for redemption - and even in this realm of the artificial, and the unearthly, she's determined to find it, no matter what it takes.

This is very dark and unpleasant movie. Director David Cronenberg is a very strange and weird dude and it often shows in everyone of his films. The cast of the film is pretty solid from top to bottom and they all give spectacular performances. The actors aren't given a lot to work with, but they make due with what they have. The film does paint a really dark picture of Hollywood and while it's a good plot device I felt that that made the film just a tad bit boring. It does borrow from a lot of different movies and it becomes predictable and it doesn't pack the punch that was intended. Overall the film is full of great performances and it's a dark, but boring film. I give Map to the Stars a 5.5 out of 10.

So ladies and gentlemen what did you think of Map to the Stars, what would you rate it and what did you think of my review? Let me know in the comments section below and let your voice be heard.
