Hello ladies and gentlemen, here is some movie news with some of my thoughts and opinions (which will be in BOLD print). So without further ado...

We got a first look on Sunday, and now Paramount Pictures has revealed the full first trailer for writer and director Christopher McQuarrie’s Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation. Check it out in the player below! Paramount also announced today that tickets for the first showings of “Rogue Nation” are unlocked with today’s trailer debut and on sale now – four months before the film’s theatrical release. The advance tickets are available for Thursday, July 30th showings at 7:00 p.m. in IMAX and premium large format theaters and 8:00 p.m. at additional participating locations nationwide. The tickets are available online at Fandango, Movietickets.com and participating theater box offices. Starting tomorrow, Tuesday, March 24th through Friday, March 27th, fans purchasing advance tickets at Fandango and Movietickets.com will receive a code for a free HD digital copy of any previous installment in the blockbuster “Mission: Impossible” franchise. In “Rogue Nation,” Ethan and team take on their most impossible mission yet, eradicating the Syndicate – an International rogue organization as highly skilled as they are, committed to destroying the IMF. Helmed by McQuarrie (The Way of the Gun, Jack Reacher), the new Mission: Impossible movie stars Tom Cruise, Jeremy Renner (Marvel’s The Avengers, Kill the Messenger), Alec Baldwin (The Departed, “30 Rock”), Simon Pegg (Star Trek, The World’s End), Ving Rhames (Pulp Fiction, Dawn of the Dead), Simon McBurney (The Last King of Scotland, The Theory of Everything) and Rebecca Ferguson (Hercules, The Red Tent) and features a screenplay by Will Staples and Drew Pearce. A Paramount Pictures and Bad Robot production, Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation will hit 2D and IMAX theaters July 31.
Yesterday I said the teaser didn't get me excited other than Tom Cruise hanging onto an airplane and I was hoping the full trailer would change my mind and it has. This trailer was just awesome. I really love the fact that Tom Cruise is doing his own stunts and it just makes the film so realistic. The premise for the film sounds so amazing and I cannot wait to see it when it comes out July 31st.
Rumored for some time, it now appears to be official that Joe and Anthony Russo, the sibling pair behind Captain America: The Winter Soldier and the upcoming Captain America: Civil War, will take on Marvel Studios’ massive two-part Avengers: Infinity War. The news broke via Badass Digest this morning and is now being reported in the trades as well. “It’s Thanos against everyone,” star Josh Brolin told us about the “Phase Three” capper late last year, which is believed to involve the Mad Titan’s quest to bring together the six Infinity Stones we’ve seen appear throughout the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The Russos, who also directed the comedies You, Me and Dupree and Welcome to Colinwood in addition to episodes of “Arrested Development” and “Community,” recently signed a first look deal at Sony Pictures. There, the pair is attached to direct The Gray Man, a big screen adaptation of Mark Greaney’s 2009 thriller novel, with rumors swirling that they’re also planning a Ghostbusters film with Channing Tatum attached to star. Production on Captain America: Civil War is set to begin within the next two weeks with the film targeting a May 6, 2016 release. After that, Avengers: Infinity War Part I will see a release on May 4, 2018, with Part II set to follow one year later on May 3, 2019.
This is great news if true. The Russo brothers did an amazing job with Captain America: The Winter Soldier and I think they are a perfect fit for the MCU. They completely reinvented the character of Captain America and can't wait to see how they do with the rest of The Avengers. I'm now a huge of The Russo brothers and I can't to see how they do Captain America: Civil War.
Although Dwayne Johnson has been loosely attached to a big screen take on DC Comics’ Shazam for some time now, plans are now finally moving forward to not just bring the adventures of Billy Batson and his superpowered alter ego to the big screen, but to also develop the story of Johnson’s Black Adam as well. MTV caught up with the Furious 7 star over the weekend and learned a bit more about what fans can expect from the Shazam movie, currently planned for release on April 5, 2019. “[S]tarting off properly is him not being a hero,” Johnson tells the outlet. “That’s got to be earned, so he starts off as a slave. And he’s pissed off, and people are going to pay. But eventually down the line he’ll become an anti-hero.” Created in 1939 by artist C. C. Beck and writer Bill Parker, Shazam first appeared in Fawcett Comics’ Whiz Comics #2. By saying the world “Shazam,” teenager Billy Batson was transformed into the “world’s mightiest mortal” and given the wisdom of Solomon, the strength of Hercules, the stamina of Atlas, the power of Zeus, the courage of Achilles and the speed of Mercury. Originally known as Captain Marvel, legal disputes between DC and Marvel comics over the decades led to the hero receiving an official name change in 2011. “No, we haven’t picked a Shazam yet,” Johnson continues, “and we have been working on the script. Half the scripts [have] already come in. Fantastic, very excited about it. And what I’m really excited about is — because, again, I’ve lived with this character, and this opportunity for almost 10 years now, so it’s like, in my DNA! I’m like a little kid, and it’s the opportunity to create his journey, but that journey has to start out properly… I can’t wait to share more casting news by the way.” Jack the Giant Slayer scribe Darren Lemke is currently penning the script for Shazam, which is set to be released April 5, 2019, just a month before Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War Part II. Johnson previously hinted, however, that Shazam could arrive even sooner, so check back for details as they become available.
I really love these comments. My biggest thing for people playing comic-book characters is that they get to know the characters and they are passionate about it and The Rock is one of those guys. I'm not surprised they haven't chosen a Shazam yet because the film doesn't come out until 2019 so they have plenty of time to find one. I'm excited for this film, but I'm so mad that I have to wait til then for the movie.
Warner Bros. Pictures has revealed the new poster for Entourage, opening in theaters on June 5. Written and directed by series creator Doug Ellin, the big-screen version of the hit show stars Kevin Connolly, Adrian Grenier, Kevin Dillon, Jerry Ferrara and Jeremy Piven in their original roles, as well as Billy Bob Thornton and Haley Joel Osment as Larsen and Travis McCredle. The film also reunites series regulars Perrey Reeves as Ari Gold’s wife, Emmanuelle Chriqui as Sloan, and Rhys Coiro as Billy Walsh. Entourage is produced by Mark Wahlberg, Stephen Levinson and Ellin, with Wayne Carmona serving as executive producer. The creative filmmaking team includes director of photography Steve Fierberg, production designer Chase Harlan, and costume designer Olivia Miles-Payne, all of whom worked on the long-running HBO series. In the film, movie star Vincent Chase (Grenier), together with his boys, Eric (Connolly), Turtle (Ferrara) and Johnny (Dillon), are back and back in business with super agent-turned-studio head Ari Gold (Piven). Some of their ambitions have changed, but the bond between them remains strong as they navigate the capricious and often cutthroat world of Hollywood.
This is a pretty great poster. It's simple and it shows all of the key essential characters and everything they are about. I haven't seen any of the the show, but I really want to before the movie. The film looks like it will be a lot of fun and I can't wait to see it.
Traditionally there have been long gaps between Alien sequels, but xenomorph fans are in hog heaven right now with the idea that both Neill Blomkamp’s untitled Alien 5 and Ridley Scott’s Prometheus 2 are being concurrently developed. In a new interview with Empire, Blomkamp let it be known that his sequel will not, in his own words, “tread on the toes” of Scott’s pseudo-prequel. “I changed the one thing [Scott] felt was bumping ‘Prometheus’ a little bit,” reveals Blomkamp. “One thing that makes me feel good about it is that Ridley is producing it. He likes the idea of what I want to make.” Although Blomkamp makes it very clear that “the first two films are the ones that I care about,” as he has said in recent weeks, he jokes that his film could be called “Alien 3 (no, really)” while maintaining his poker face over what the actual title is. “I sent what I wanted as the title to Ridley,” says Blomkamp. “It’s kinda quite bold, and he was like, ‘I really like that.’ So I’m gonna test it, I don’t think it’s gonna work, though. I have my own idea but it gives away too much if I say the title. But in the event that it doesn’t work, I’m dead in the water…” Finally, Blomkamp’s wife and frequent collaborator Terri Tatchell revealed what finally tipped him to ultimately choose this film as his next project. “He’s hemming and hawing, going back-and-forth,” Tatchell says of his indecision. “Finally I said, ‘Look, look at what you make me drink my orange juice out of every morning,’ and I pulled out of the cupboard, we have these set of glasses that have these brutal scenes from the movies. I said, ‘You make your daughter drink out of these cups! This is a sign.'” “No bullsh*t, that made me realize there is a massive portion of my brain taken up by the xenomorph,” Blomkamp said. “I was like, ‘Hmm, that’s a valid point.'” Ridley Scott is expected to direct Prometheus 2 from a screenplay by Michael Green and Jack Paglen, with original stars Noomi Rapace and Michael Fassbender returning for what is promised to be a trip to the homeworld of the sinister Engineers of both the alien species and humanity. 20th Century Fox currently has a March 4, 2016 release date set, although pre-production is unconfirmed at this time. Meanwhile, Neill Blomkamp will write and direct Alien 5 with an eye towards a tentative 2017 release. Sigourney Weaver is expected to return, although it is unclear if it will follow the events of Alien 3 and Alien: Resurrection or create an alternate follow-up to 1986’s beloved Aliens.
This isn't surprising news to hear. Neil Bloomkamp has said that his film will be an original piece that will basically make you forget Alien 3 which is fine by me. Plus I kind of knew this news because Prometheus 2 will still be taking place before Alien so I don't see how this film would interfere with that film anyway.
So there you have it ladies and gentlemen, which of these stories peaked your interest or was there another story that interested you? Let me know in the comments section below and let your voice be heard.
