Hello ladies and gentlemen, here is some movie news with some of my thoughts and opinions (which will be in BOLD print). So without further ado...

The Creed trailer is here and, in the player below, you can take a first look at the upcoming Rocky franchise spinoff/sequel, starring Sylvester Stallone as Rocky Balboa and Michael B. Jordan as the son of Apollo Creed (played in previous films by Carl Weathers). There’s also a newly-released synopsis for the film, which reads as follows: Adonis Johnson (Jordan) never knew his famous father, world heavyweight champion Apollo Creed, who died before he was born. Still, there’s no denying that boxing is in his blood, so Adonis heads to Philadelphia, the site of Apollo Creed’s legendary match with a tough upstart named Rocky Balboa. Once in the City of Brotherly Love, Adonis tracks Rocky (Stallone) down and asks him to be his trainer. Despite his insistence that he is out of the fight game for good, Rocky sees in Adonis the strength and determination he had known in Apollo—the fierce rival who became his closest friend. Agreeing to take him on, Rocky trains the young fighter, even as the former champ is battling an opponent more deadly than any he faced in the ring. With Rocky in his corner, it isn’t long before Adonis gets his own shot at the title…but can he develop not only the drive but also the heart of a true fighter, in time to get into the ring? Directed by Fruitvale Station‘s Ryan Coogler and written by Coogler and Aaron Covington (based, of course, on characters from the Rocky series written by Sylvester Stallone), Creed also stars Tessa Thompson, Phylicia Rashad and Anthony Bellew. It is produced by Robert Chartoff, Irwin Winkler, Charles Winkler, William Chartoff, Kevin King Templeton and Stallone himself and is slated to hit the big screen November 25.
This was an amazing trailer. It does a lot of great call backs to Rocky and it really is standing on its own without much use of Stallone. I also love the fact that Adonis (Michael B. Jordan's character) is going to be wearing the famous red, white & blue boxing shorts that Apollo Creed wore. The film has a really dark and gritty tone to it and that's to be expected with Ryan Coogler at the helm after the work he did on Fruitvale Station with Michael B. Jordan. I was looking forward to the film before, but the trailer has gotten me even more excited to see the film.
Open Road Films has released the first teaser trailer for Oliver Stone’s thriller Snowden, starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt (Looper) and Shailene Woodley (“The Divergent Series”), which features the same upside-down American flag imagery he used for 1994’s Natural Born Killers. Check it out below! Snowden is written and directed by three-time Academy Award-winning filmmaker Stone (Platoon, JFK). The script is based on the books “The Snowden Files: The Inside Story of the World’s Most Wanted Man” by Luke Harding and “Time of the Octopus” by Anatoly Kucherena. The latter book mainly deals with former information analyst Snowden’s time in Russia hoping to get asylum while the United States was demanding his extradition to potentially face jail time for leaking classified information. The film co-stars Melissa Leo, Zachary Quinto, Tom Wilkinson, Rhys Ifans and Nicolas Cage. Snowden is produced by Moritz Borman, Eric Kopeloff and Philip Schulz-Deyle, and is scheduled for release on December 25 of this year.
This was a really great trailer. It didn't give anything away simply because it is a teaser, but it got me a little interested. This is story that I'm glad is being brought to the big screen because whether you love or hate Snowden, this story is something that needs to be brought to everyone's attention. You'd be surprised to find out how many people don't know the whole story. Hopefully the film doesn't end up not showing the more serious and controversial parts like most bio-pics do. The cast for the film looks fantastic and maybe this is the film that revive Oliver Stone's career.
STX Entertainment has released the trailer for writer/director Billy Ray’s Secret in Their Eyes, starring Chiwetel Ejiofor, Nicole Kidman and Julia Roberts. Produced by Academy Award winner Mark Johnson (Rain Man, Breaking Bad), the October 23 release is an intense, powerful, haunting thriller. A tight-knit team of rising FBI investigators – Ray (Chiwetel Ejiofor) and Jess (Julia Roberts), along with their District Attorney supervisor Claire (Nicole Kidman) – is suddenly torn apart when they discover that Jess’s teenage daughter has been brutally and inexplicably murdered. Now, thirteen years later, after obsessively searching every day for the elusive killer, Ray finally uncovers a new lead that he’s certain can permanently resolve the case, nail the vicious murderer, and bring long-desired closure to his team. No one is prepared, however, for the shocking, unspeakable secret that will reveal the enduring, destructive effects of personal vengeance on the human soul. Interweaving past and present, this deeply layered mystery explores the murky boundaries between justice and revenge, and asks the question: how far would you go to right an unfathomable wrong?
This was an intense and really dark trailer. We're getting to see Julia Roberts in a role that we've never seen her in before alongside Chiwetel Ejiofor and Nicole Kidman. The cast automatically screams Oscar bait, plus it comes out in a primes spot for possible Oscar contenders. I feel like this a film that will keep you on the edge of your seat the entire time and I can't wait for it to come out.
The Ghostbusters costumes have arrived! Director Paul Feig has revealed the jumpsuits that will be worn by the Ghostbusters team in his upcoming reboot and you can check out the phot below “I’m having a lot of fun playing with genres,” Feig told ComingSoon.net of the new film earlier this year, “…I love the original film, but I also just love the idea of busting ghosts and kind of paranormal warriors. I thought, ‘You know, if I could do this with the funny women I know and kind of just do a new origin story…’ I’m more interested in what would happen today. You know, you see things on TV about ghosts, but none of it’s real. What if, suddenly, something started happening? What happens when that just begins to happen to people? Also, how do they develop their technology? It’s not as fun if they’re just handed their proton packs. It’s why it’s not as fun to do a sequel. The fun is getting there.” Ghostbusters is currently filming in New York City with plans for additional photography in Boston. Starring Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, Melissa McCarthy, Leslie Jones, and Chris Hemsworth, the film is targeting a July 22, 2016 release.
I really love the costumes. Now granted they don't look much different than the original ones. They do have sort of a darker tint to them, but to me the look the same. For as long as I can remember Sony has been trying to make some sort of Ghostbusters film and now that one is production they finally breath a sigh of relief. I was a little indifferent about the all female group, but it has slowly grown on me and all we can do is wait until the film comes out.
It has been nearly five years since producer Charles Roven confirmed to ComingSoon.net two-time Academy Award winner Tom Hanks’ involvement in the ensemble drama project, Triple Frontier, and there’s still no definitive timetable on when the film may finally head into production. Deadline has an update today, however, reporting that, while Hanks appears to remain interested in headlining, formerly-attached director Kathryn Bigelow has moved on. Replacing her, the outlet claims, is likely to be J.C. Chandor, the Academy Award-nominated writer and director behind Margin Call, All Is Lost and, most recently, A Most Violent Year. The film was initially planned to serve as a follow-up to The Hurt Locker with Bigelow again helming from a script by Mark Boal. An ensemble picture, the story is set in the notorious border zone between Paraguay, Argentina and Brazil where the Igazu and Parana rivers converge — making “la triple frontera” difficult to monitor and a haven for organized crime. Although a number of A-list names have been tied to the project over the years, today’s report seems to suggest that, in addition to Hanks, Will Smith has his sights set on being a part of the Triple Frontier ensemble.
This is a great choice. J.C. Chandor is a really great director and with this being a political thriller then this is a great fit for this film based on his background. I think Tom Hanks is great fit and I also like Will smith joining the film as well. With the title it also seems like they want another big-time start to headline the film with these two so I'm curious to see who will join the film.
