My Review of Inside Out

So I recently watched Inside Out and I'm here to bring you my review. So without further ado......

Growing up can be a bumpy road, and it's no exception for Riley (voiced by Kaitlyn Dias), who is uprooted from her Midwest life when her father (voiced by Kyle MacLachlan) starts a new job in San Francisco. Like all of us, Riley is guided by her emotions - Joy (voiced by Amy Poehler), Fear (voiced by Bill Hader), Anger (voiced by Lewis Black), Disgust (voiced by Mindy Kaling) and Sadness (voiced by Phyllis Smith). The emotions live in Headquarters, the control center inside Riley's mind, where they help advise her through everyday life. As Riley and her emotions struggle to adjust to a new life in San Francisco, turmoil ensues in Headquarters. Although Joy, Riley's main and most important emotion, tries to keep things positive, the emotions conflict on how best to navigate a new city, house and school.

This was a really fun and entertaining film. For awhile now Pixar has had quite a few misses (i.e. Cars 2, Brave and Monster's University) and a lot of people (myself included) thought Pixar may be done and boy was I wrong because they knocked this film out of the park. Pete Docter (who directed Monster's Inc. and Up) does a terrific job at hitting all of the key points you expect in a Pixar film. You have quite a bit of action, a lot of comedy and quite a few touching and heartbreaking moments. The voice cast  is terrific and everyone who voiced one of the main emotions pretty much played up to their real-life persona in some fashion. The one stand out was Lewis Black who was meant to play and anger emotion and he had the best lines of the film.I also really liked the voiced of Diane Lane and Kyle MacLachlan as Riley's parents and Kaitlyn Davis as the voice of Riley. The film does present us with a lot of interesting thoughts (no pun intended) and it after the film is over you will start to think about the different emotions and your mind works. Some people have started to put this film as their favorite Pixar film and I can't quite do that just yet because the film will need more repeat viewings as time passes. But I will say that there is no shadow of a doubt that this film will get nominated for Best Picture at next year's Oscars. Overall this is a return to form for Pixar and it is one of the best films of the year. I give Inside Out a 10 out of 10.

So ladies and gentlemen what did you think of Inside Out, what would your rate it and what did you think of my review? Let me know in the comments section below and let your voice be heard.
