Hello ladies and gentlemen, here is some movie news with some of my thoughts and opinions (which will be in BOLD print). So without further ado...

This trailer was great. It showed a lot more footage and that's to be expected since we are just a little over a month away from the films release. I think Rusty's kids in the film are going to steal the movie from the looks of the trailer.I'm a big fan of the National Lampoon Vacation series and I'm looking forward to this film.
Because Nick Fury was a major player in last year’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier, many Marvel fans were surprised by the absence of Samuel L. Jackson’s name on the official Captain America: Civil War cast list. While promoting his new action adventure, Big Game, the Academy Award nominee revealed to IGN that he’s as surprised as anyone to be left out of the (admittedly still massive) Marvel ensemble. “I was surprised I wasn’t in ‘Civil War,'” says the star, “because the Russo Brothers told me I was. I don’t know what’s going on.” Set for release in the United States on May 6, 2016, Captain America: Civil War is directed by Anthony and Joe Russo from a screenplay by Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely. It is set to feature the return of Chris Evans as Steve Rogers/Captain America, this time joined in his “solo” film by fellow Avengers Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark/Iron Man, Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow, Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson/Falcon, Paul Bettany as The Vision, Jeremy Renner as Clint Barton/Hawkeye, Don Cheadle as Jim Rhodes/War Machine and Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch. Sebastian Stan will also be back as Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier alongside Chadwick Boseman as T’Challa/Black Panther, Emily VanCamp as Sharon Carter/Agent 13, Daniel Brühl as Baron Helmut Zemo, Frank Grillo as Brock Rumlow/Crossbones, William Hurt as General Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross, Paul Rudd as Scott Lang/Ant-Man and Martin Freeman in a mystery role. The film is also supposed to debut Marvel’s new Spider-Man, although casting has not quite been confirmed. Captain America: Civil War picks up where Avengers: Age of Ultron left off, as Steve Rogers leads the new team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity. After another international incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability and a governing body to determine when to enlist the services of the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers while they try to protect the world from a new and nefarious villain.
After recently announcing the live-action Peter Pan spin-off Tink starring Reese Witherspoon, Disney thought it might go through their rolodex of other side-characters they can build a live-action feature out of and, according to The Hollywood Reporter, that character will be the Slavic black god Chernobog, better known as the iconic winged devil from the “Night on Bald Mountain” segment of 1940’s Fantasia. Partially modeled after Dracula actor Bela Lugosi, Chernobog featured in symphonic anthology film Fantasia‘s grand finale sequence based around composer Modest Mussorgsky’s “Night on Bald Mountain,” in which the giant demonic figure awakens at the stroke of midnight, spreading evil spirits throughout the land until they are banished by a bright dawn ushered in by Franz Schubert’s Ave Maria. Of all of Walt Disney’s creations, Chernobog is perhaps the most menacing and went on to inspire many a heavy metal album cover as well as Darkness in Ridley Scott’s Legend. Dark fantasy specialists Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless (Dracula Untold, The Last Witch Hunter, Gods of Egypt) will write the script and produce the live-action Night on Bald Mountain, which is in early development at the studio with no director currently attached. Disney has had quite a lot of success lately with live-action versions of some of its animated classics like Kenneth Branagh’s Cinderella, Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland (a quasi-sequel to the 1951 animated feature) and Robert Stromberg’s Maleficent (a retelling of 1959’s Sleeping Beauty). On the way soon are Jon Favreau’s The Jungle Book (arriving April 15, 2016), Beauty and the Beast (March 17, 2017) and, currently without a release date, Tim Burton’s Dumbo, as well as Mulan and Winnie the Pooh. There’s also the Alice in Wonderland sequel, Alice Through the Looking Glass, that is being directed by The Muppets‘ James Bobin and is set to arrive May 27, 2016.
This is a really interesting idea. Now the last film that was segment of Fantasia and was made into a movie was The Sorcerer's Apprentice with Nicholas Cage and Jay Baruchel and that film was terrible, so I'm a little skeptical about this film. I kind of wish that Disney would've go with another type of Gargoyle and that's in the form of the animated show Gargoyles. It's been awhile since I've seen the original Fantasia, so I can't remember this segment, but I'll have to go back and look at how that turned out and looked liked.

Warner Bros. Pictures has just announced that director James Wan (Furious Seven, The Conjuring) is officially set to take the helm of the studio’s upcoming Aquaman feature film! Jason Momoa (“Game of Thrones”) is starring as the sea-dwelling superhero. The announcement was made today by Greg Silverman, President, Creative Development and Worldwide Production, Warner Bros. Pictures. “We’ve been so lucky to have worked with James, first on New Line’s ‘The Conjuring’ and now on their upcoming ‘The Conjuring 2,'” says Silverman, “and are thrilled to have him on board as we continue to expand our DC slate. The ‘Aquaman’ film will be a major tentpole picture for us and James’s span of work has proven him able to take on any manner of project, bringing his incredible creative talent and unique voice to the material.” Wan will also be supervising the script by Kurt Johnstad (300, 300: Rise of an Empire). Charles Roven, Deborah Snyder and Zack Snyder will serve as producers. “James is not only a great storyteller but can make action truly explode on the big screen,” says Roven, “and Jason has a dynamic presence that commands your attention. Together, they will bring an undeniable vitality and energy to this character as he headlines his first feature film.” The character’s first comic book appearance was in 1941’s “More Fun Comics” #73. Created by Paul Norris and Mort Weisinger, Aquaman went on to become a founding member of the Justice League of America two decades later. Until now, the character has never made it to the big screen. Aquaman’s sole live-action appearance was as a teen on the WB’s “Smallville.” The character was planned for a spinoff series, “Mercy Reef,” but the property never made it beyond the pilot stage. Before appearing in his solo film, Momoa’s Aquaman will make his big screen debut in Zack Snyder’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, set to hit theaters on March 25, 2016. It’s also a near certainty that he’ll be back for Justice League: Part One, arriving November 10, 2017. Aquaman then hits the following summer with Justice League: Part Two following on June 14, 2019.
This is a fantastic choice for the movie. It had been rumored for a long time that Wan would be at the helm for the movie and I'm glad that it is confirmed. I personally think Wan has a certain style that works and I think his vision of Aquaman will be amazing. It's also not surprising that he's working on another Warner Bros. since he did work on several other films form the studio and studios tend to keep there directors in house. After reading the new 52 comic series, I have a lot of respect for Aquaman and with Jason Momoa in the Arthur Curry role, I am looking forward to the film.
The Griswolds are on the road again as Warner Bros. Pictures and New Line Cinema have today released a new trailer for the upcoming Vacation, a reboot/sequel of the 1983 comedy classic National Lampoon’s Vacation and you can check it out below. Following in his father’s footsteps and hoping for some much-needed family bonding, a grown-up Rusty Griswold (Ed Helms) surprises his wife, Debbie (Christina Applegate), and their two sons with a cross-country trip back to Americas “favorite family fun park,” Walley World. Rounding out the cast are Chris Hemsworth (Thor) in the role of Stone Crandall, Rusty’s irritatingly successful brother-in-law; Charlie Day (Horrible Bosses), who plays a river rafting guide; and Skyler Gisondo (Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb) and Steele Stebbins (A Haunted House 2), who play Rusty’s sons, James and Kevin. Chevy Chase and Beverly D’Angelo reprise their roles as Clark and Ellen Griswold from the previous Vacation comedies. The road comedy adventure marks Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley’s directorial debut. Goldstein and Daley wrote the script, based on characters created by John Hughes. David Dobkin (Wedding Crashers) and Chris Bender (We’re the Millers) are producing, with Marc S. Fischer serving as executive producer. Vacation is set to open in theaters on July 29.

I really like these comments. Like Samuel L. Jackson, I am surprised that Nick Fury won't be appearing in Captain America: Civil War. He has played a key part in both Captain America movies and The Avengers movies and I think not having him kind of hurts the films. Now he could be pulling a fast one and he might have a small role in the film that we haven't heard about or this could all be true and he might not be in the film. All I can say is that we'll just have to wait for the film to come out and we're just 11 months away for that release.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Disney has begun development on a remake of their 1992 comedy smash Sister Act, which starred Whoopi Goldberg as a lounge singer forced to hide at a convent as part of a witness protection program after the mob puts a hit on her. Female-driven comedy specialists Kirsten “Kiwi” Smith and Karen McCullah (Legally Blonde, The House Bunny, She’s the Man) will pen the new version, with Alli Shearmur (Cinderella) producing. Released by Disney’s Touchstone Pictures label, the original made $140 million at the US box office and was quickly followed by a sequel the next year, Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit, which featured a young Lauren Hill before she hit it big with The Fugees. Deloris Van Cartier/Sister Mary Clarencene is considered one of Whoopi Goldberg’s signature roles, and she also co-produced a musical version of “Sister Act” for the West End and Broadway stage, which wound up with a slew of Olivier and Tony Award nominations.
This is not surprising news. Every film in the world will eventually be remade and this is one of those films. I really enjoy the first film(the second film not so much) and I'm really interested to see what changes will be made to the updated version. I'm also curious to see what kind of role Whoopi Goldberg will have in the film, if she even has a role at all. I'm looking forward to it and I can't wait to see how it turns out.
