My Top 9 Questions for Star Wars Episode IX

With Star Wars Episode VIII" The Last Jedi being released recently, after having watched the film 5 times so far (yes I know it seems like much for some that don't understand) and reading non-canon/canon material, I've come up with 9 (yes 9 and I know its cheesy) questions/predictions for Star Wars Episode IX. It was honestly tough to come up with questions and predictions mainly due to the fact the film ends in a way where you think the trilogy is over so bare with me on some of the things asked. Also I'm gonna give a spoiler warning for those who are going to see the film and haven't yet becasue I'm gonna dive deep into The Last Jedi and if you want to avoid spoilers then please don't read the article , So without further ado...

9. We will get more Porgs?

Ok so I know this is a dumb question going forward for the next film, but as I mentioned it was hard to come up with questions on this topic. However at the end of The Last Jedi, a Porg is seen in the Millennium Falcon with Chewbacca and Rey plus the fact that they are cute to a degree and they will sell a ton of merchandising, I think it's smart to bring them back for Episode IX. Plus we could see Rey return to the island and go back to the cave where she thought might find her parents which would mean seeing more Porgs.

8. Will Phasma return?

This questions will also seem dumb simply because we got a clear shot of Phasma falling into a fiery pit of death so her I'd put her return at 1% maybe less. The only reason why I would suggest 1% is the fact the we Rose shoot a blaster at Phasma and it just bounced right off of her showing that her amour is pretty tough an might be able to withstand fire. What would be cool is that if she does return that she takes off her mask in Episode IX revealing a burnt face (mainly due to the fact we see her left eye after Finn hits her in the face) and she just looks awful and it would present a frightening image to say the least. It seems unlikely, but I think that's the only way you can do it.

7. Will Canto Bight be explored more

The scenes at Canto Bight in the film were filler material and there is no way around it which was disappointing to say the least. But within that scene we did get to see the richer side of the galaxy and the war profiteers who sell to both the Resistance and The First Order. It would be neat to see how that would play out in an all out war scenario with them having to choose sides in the battle.

6. Will DJ return?

Some of you are asking to yourselves who DJ is because you never heard that name in The Last Jedi. Well DJ just happens to be the name of Benicio Del Toro's character in The Last Jedi. Now if you wanted to talk about wasted opportunities, then this is one of them. The character himself was really stupid in a lot of scenes mainly when he had a stutter which was distracting to say the least. However the way he leaves the film opens the door him to return and also he is the one that tells Finn that both sides are equally bad and that he shouldn't choose a side. He is sort of a mix of Han Solo and Lando Calrissian in that sense. I think he'll have a bigger role in Episode IX becasue you don't get someone of the caliber of Benicio Del Toro and just have him appear for one film.

5. How will  Carrie Fisher's death be handled?

This is one of the harder topics to discuss. Losing Carrie Fisher was a massive gut punch to every Star Wars fan around the world and seeing her in The Last Jedi was one of the harder things to watch. One of the statements that came out from Kathleen Kennedy was that Episode IX was going to be her film through and through and you could see where they were going with her character in this film. With her untimely passing I think that they jump forward 2 to 3 years and they mention Leia's passing early in the film to sort of get it out of the way. They'll do it in respectful manner and either have Poe or Rey be the one to mention it.

4. Is Kylo Ren lying to Rey about her parents?

One of the bigger mysteries going into The Last Jedi was who Rey's parents are and we were told that they would be revealed in this film. However the answer we got was unexpected by everyone and some people are mad about it but mainly because their little theory didn't come true and it's not what they wanted. I think it's great storytelling and it send s great message about being the best without having great parents. Now one of the online rumblings and new theories is that Kylo Ren was just telling her they were nobodies so that he could manipulate her into joining him and even Rey admits they were nobodies so she has some sort of idea. If I were to agree with this I would also add that Snoke says her is the one that bridged their minds together and maybe he just placed that nugget of information in to what Kylo Ren was seeing in Rey's mind, but I highly doubt it. Look this whole thing started because we as fans wanted to know answers and that she could only be that strong if her parents are Jedi. The filmmakers only felt obligated to bring this storyline into it when fans demanded to know answers so I like the choice of making them nobodies to fit the overall narrative.

3. Will we see more Force Ghosts?

One of the more exciting aspects of The Last Jedi was the fact that we got Yoda as a force ghost and it really did bring a smile to my face. I think with them introducing them into this trilogy that we'll get to see them in Episode IX. With Carrie Fisher passing away and Leia's role diminished, I think Mark Hamill will return as force ghost Luke Skywalker along with Yoda and I think we'll even get a force ghost of Ewan McGregor as Obi-Wan for the simple fact that if the Obi-Wan spinoff film is indeed happening in 2020, then what better way to get a head start on that marketing campaign then by having Obi-Wan appear.

2. What will the title be?

This is a question I asked for Episode VIII so I'm gonna ask it for Episode IX. So far the titles for the new trilogy have the Star Wars feel to them and you would think IX would be the same. I'm still holding out hope they use The Ancient Fear which was the rumored title for Episode VII. oNe of the early rumblings for IX was that it would be From the Darkness which makes sense especially when you put the three new trilogy titles together it forms: The Force Awakens The Last Jedi From the Darkness. It makes sense and after episode IX the Jedi have been myths and legend and making Rey the "The New Last Jedi" she has arose from darkness. It fits but I don't know if I can actually get behind the title.

1. What in the world is actually going to happen in Episode IX?

After watching The Last Jedi, I think this is the biggest question simply because The Last Jedi as mentioned before had the finished feel to it and making it seem like Episode IX isn't actually happening. With that being said, I think we got an idea of what is going to happen. Both Kylo Ren and Rey will for a period of 2 to 3 years get stronger with the force and in that they will both teach a new crop of people the dark side and light side respectively leading to an all out Jedi war the likes which we've never seen. I believe Poe will be on of the top leaders for the Resistance and I think in the film when they were trying to reach people in the Outer Rim territories, I think one of the people will Lando. I say that because in Star Wars Battlefront II, Lando is a high ranking commander in the Republic and when it went forward into the future the game now ties into The Last Jedi and the ending is having your character go to the Outer Rim to get help for the Resistance. Its going to be interesting to see where JJ Abrams takes us in IX, but I for one am looking forward to it

So ladies and gentlemen what are some of the questions you have for Episode IX and what do you think of questions I am asking? Let me know in the comments section below and let your voice be heard.
