My Review of Lady Bird

So I recently watched Lady Bird and I'm here to bring you my review. So without further ado......

Marion McPherson (played by Laurie Metcalf), a California nurse, works tirelessly to keep her family afloat after her husband loses his job. She also maintains a turbulent bond with a teenage daughter (played by Saoirse Ronan) who is just like her -- loving, strong-willed and deeply opinionated.

This is a really smart and honest film that knows what type of film it wants to be. Coming of age films are some of the harder films to make because each story is somewhat similar in how kids are raised and how they deal with each situation, but this film is able be different in that it shows you that as a kid not everything is gloom and doom and that you can be your own person without having to rely on other people such as parents, classmates or other adults in your community. The film is semi-autobiographical from director and writer Greta Gerwig's life and it really does make you feel more connected to her on a personal level. The performances in the film are absolutely amazing especially from the two leads Saoirse Ronan and Laurie Metcalf who will both be nominated for their performances at the Oscars and both have a solid shot to win for Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress respectively. The biggest problem with the film is that the comedy feels forced it a lot of areas, but there are some moments that are really funny and are cleverly placed in the film. Overall this is a magnificent film that deserves all the attention it is getting and it gets you excited to see what Greta Gerwig's next project will be. I give Lady Bird a 9.5 out of 10.

So ladies and gentlemen what did you think of Lady Bird, what would you rate it and what did you think of my review? Let me know in the comments section below and let your voice be heard.
