Well the trailer that a lot of people were waiting for finally hit the web last night. The teaser trailer for the highly anticipated Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice was released. Now the trailer was leaked on Thursday by someone with a smart phone. I didn't want to talk about the trailer then because it's not right for me to talk about a trailer that the studio itself didn't release because ladies and gentlemen that trailer was illegally obtained and I don't want to go into legal matters. With no other option director Zack Snyder took to his twitter account to release the trailer and it was in good quality unlike the leaked one. The trailer was to debut on IMAX screens Monday night and with that Snyder also announced that the people who the tickets to see the trailer in IMAX will be treated to an extra scene only available to those people in the screenings. With that out of the way let's talk about this trailer...
Here is the trailer
Here is the trailer
Let me just say that this is my most anticipated film of 2016 and this trailer got even more excited for the film. For those that know me well, I am a huge Batman fan and I hate Superman and knowing what I know from The Dark Knight Returns (the comic that the movie is going to almost be based on) I take great pleasure in knowing that Batman will win this fight. Now they could change it up, but I don't think they will because for Superman to win he has to kill Batman and I just don't think they want to kill Batman unless they go the way of the comics where Batman dies, but is later brought back to life.
As for the trailer it showed us a lot, but just enough to wet your appetite. It starts with a bunch of voice overs that are talking about Superman and what they should do with him. Some people think he is a good guy and he should be respected. While others consider him a menace and he needs to be dealt with. A couple of the people you can make out from the voice overs is Jesse Eisenberg's Lex Luthor stating that devils don't come from the ground beneath us, but instead they come from above. You can also hear Holly Hunter's unknown character stating that Superman needs to held accountable for his actions in Man of Steel. This confirms everything that has been speculated in the sense that some people aren't happy with Superman and someone needs to teach him a lesson.
We then hear Jeremy Irons's as Alfred Pennyworth explaining to Bruce that this anger he is feeling for the action of Superman will turn him evil. We get our first clear look of Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne and he looks just like I imagined he would. He has the grey hair of the side with a slicked back haircut. Some people claim that the can make out the Robin outfit in the background and me personally I can't tell what it is. It would make sense for the costume to be in a glass case after the events in the prequel graphic novel Death in the Family were The Joker kills Jason Todd (the person to be Robin after Dick Grayson becomes Nightwing) and there is an iconic image in The Dark Knight Returns where Batman is staring at the case and mourning the death of Jason Todd. Then we get an up-close look at the new batisuit and it looks amazing and it is straight out of the comics.
Then if you look closely at the column on the far left at the 1:20 mark you can see The Riddler's symbol pointing to the Easter egg of The Riddler existing in the new universe. Then we get our first look at the Bat-Wing and it looks amazing and ten times better than the Christopher Nolan version in The Dark Knight Rises. Plus we see the Batmobile in action as well. Then we get a shot of Ben Affleck in the main Batman costume that he wear predominantly in and throughout the new DCCU. Then we see Batman on top of a tower carrying what looks like a sniper rifle when in fact it has no bullets. but it is used as a grappling hook just like in The Dark Knight Returns.
Finally we get to the main part of the trailer most of the stuff is from the footage that was shown at Comic-Con last year with Batman standing next to the Bat-Signal with glaring white eyes in his custom Fighting Superman outfit with him staring at Superman who is floating in the sky in the middle of the Bat-Signal. Then we finally hear what Ben Affleck's Batman voice will be and it sounds amazing compared to Christian Bale's, plus it's also mixed in with a voice distorion device to make it sound more techno. He then delivers the line "do you bleed?, you will" and then the trailer ends.
All I can say is WOW that trailer was amazing and this film looks amazing. It's going to be a dark movie with a lot of great dialogue and action and it will set the tone for the entire DCCU. March 25th, 2016 cannot get here fast enough.
so ladies and gentlemen what did you think of the trailer, did you like it or dislike it and what is your excitement level going into the film? Let me know in the comments section below and let your voice be heard.
