In film today, all we usually see are sequels, remakes and reboots, some are worse than the original films and they make a joke of their predecessors. With that being said I'm going to bring you my top 10 least favorite sequels of all-time. For this list I'm not limiting it to just a second movie but I will also include additional films in the series as well. So without further ado...
10. Indiana Jones and The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
I;m a huge fan of Indiana Jones and this film did not feel like an Indiana Jones movie to me and it basically ruined the franchise for me. After being forced to leave Marshall College under dubious circumstances, Indy joins forces with rebellious, young Mutt, who believes he knows the whereabouts of one of the most spectacular archeological finds in history--the Crystal Skull of Akator, a legendary object of fascination, superstition and fear. But, as Indy and Mutt set out for the most remote corners of Peru--a land of ancient tombs, forgotten explorers and a rumored city of gold--they quickly realize they are not alone in their search. Soviet agents are also hot on the trail of the Crystal Skull. Chief among them is icy cold, devastatingly beautiful Irina Spalko, whose elite military unit is scouring the globe for the eerie Crystal Skull, which they believe can help the Soviets dominate the world--if they can unlock its secrets. Indy and Mutt must find a way to evade the ruthless Soviets, follow an impenetrable trail of mystery, grapple with enemies and friends of questionable motives, and, above all, stop the powerful Crystal Skull from falling into the deadliest of hands. Indiana Jones and The Kingdom of The Crystal Skull has a rating of 78% on rottentomatoes.com.
9. Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre is my favorite horror film of all-time and this film just completely destroys the mythology behind the first film. When Leatherface (played by Bill Johnson) and his family take to carving up roving yuppies, a screwy former Texas Ranger Lefty Enright (played by Dennis Hopper) with a personal grudge takes up the cause to flush the family out of hiding. Helping him along is local deejay Vantia "Stretch" Block (played by Caroline Williams). Things get much more complicated for Stretch when Leatherface develops a soft spot in his heart for the attractive deejay. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre has a rating of 42% on rottentomatoes.com.
8. Jaws The Revenge
This movie just completely ruined the franchise and the special effects are just god-awful. When Ellen Brody (played by Lorraine Gary)'s son Sean (played by Mitchell Anderson), the current police chief of shark-plagued Amity Island, is killed by the beast, Ellen goes to the Bahamas to comfort her surviving son. Michael Brody (played by Lance Guest) and his friend Jake (played by Mario Van Peebles) are marine biologists there to help, but in the end it is up to Ellen and her new beach-bum love (played by Michael Caine) to put a halt to the fishy horror. Jaws The Revenge has a rating of 0% on rottentomatoes.com.
7. RoboCop 2
This film began the downfall of what could've been one of the greatest franchise of all-time. Cyborg Detroit policeman Alex Murphy (played by Peter Weller) is the sole officer on duty after the police force goes on strike against evil conglomerate Omni Consumer Products and its push to foreclose on the city of Detroit. Aside from dealing with the normal level of crime, Murphy must take on crime boss Cain (played by Tom Noonan), the spread of a dangerous new drug called "Nuke" and the attempt by psychologist Dr. Juliette Faxx (played by Belinda Bauer) to create another RoboCop using a hardened criminal. RoboCop 2 has a rating of 32% on rottentomatoes.com.
6. The Hangover Part II
]
I love the first film and I expected this film to be great and it turned out to be the same film in a different location. Phil (played by Bradley Cooper), Stu (played by Ed Helms), Alan (played by Zach Galifianakis) and Doug (played by Justin Bartha) travel to exotic Thailand for Stu's wedding. After the unforgettable bachelor party in Las Vegas, Stu is taking no chances and has opted for a safe, subdued pre-wedding brunch. However, things don't always go as planned. What happens in Vegas may stay in Vegas, but what happens in Bangkok can't even be imagined. The Hangover Part II has a rating of 34% on rottentomatoes.com.
5. Caddyshack II
This film is not funny whatsoever and it just ruins the first film. When a blue-collar self-made millionaire tries to join the stuffy club and he's refused, he has a simple plan -- buy the place. So he buys it and turns it into a tacky amusement park. The snobs learn a lesson, the millionaire gets to join, and everyone's happy. Caddyshack II has a rating of 4% on rottentomatoes.com.
4. Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen
This movie ruined my childhood for me and I even loved the first film, but this one is too long and it feels like it will never end. Two years after saving the world with the Autobots, Sam Witwicky (played by Shia LaBeouf) is away at college when an ancient Decepticon named "The Fallen" returns to Earth on a mission of vengeance. With the Allspark destroyed, the Autobots lose all hope of returning to their home planet of Cybertron, and begin working with an elite military known as NEST to hunt down any remaining Decepticons. But even as they fight for humanity alongside Major Lennox (played by Josh Duhamel) and USAF Master Sergeant Epps (played by Tyrese Gibson), the Autobots are acutely aware that not all humans are thrilled by their presence on planet Earth. When National Security Advisor Theodore Galloway (played by John Benjamin Hickey) wages a heated campaign aimed at exiling the giant robots back into space, head Autobot Optimus Prime agrees to comply with the voice of the people, while warning them of the potential consequences of leaving the planet unprotected. Meanwhile, Sam contends with an overly cocky college roommate, and attempts to remain faithful to Mikaela (played by Megan Fox) by fending off advances from pretty -- and persistent coed Alice (played by Isabel Lucas). Just as Sam begins adjusting to the quirks of campus life, a series of inexplicable visions leaves him convinced that the struggle between good and evil is far from over. And he's correct, too, because the Decepticons have just discovered that Sam is the one human who possesses the ability to tip the balance of power to the Autobots' advantage, and they're determined to gain the upper hand by dispensing with him once and for all. Now, as Sam and Mikaela unearth a secret about the Transformers that alters the entire course of human history, the Decepticon known as The Fallen prepares to return -- and reclaim the plant once and for all.Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Sound Mixing and it has a rating of 19% on rottentomatoes.com.
3. Rocky 5
This movie just makes no sense and to me it is not a Rocky movie. Back from the USSR fight, Rocky Balboa (played by Sylvester Stallone) suffers from too many blows to the head and is no longer a ring contender. He is willing, however, to pass along his formulate for fisticuff success to a young protege named Tommy Gunn (played by Tommy Morrison) who learns the ropes from the best. Along comes a conniving trainer who wants to take the young fighter away from his mentor. Rocky 5 has a rating of 26% on rottentomatoes.com.
2. Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones
Everyone knows how big of a Star Wars fan I am and this to me is the worst film of the franchise and it has one of the most misleading titles in the history of film. Young Anakin Skywalker (played by Hayden Christensen) is an apprentice to respected Jedi knight Obi-Wan Kenobi (played by Ewan McGregor). Unusually powerful in the Force, Anakin is also impatient, arrogant, and headstrong -- causing his mentor a great deal of concern. The pair are ordered to protect Padme Amidala (played by Natalie Portman), the former queen of the planet Naboo, now representing her world in the Galactic Senate. Someone is trying to assassinate her on the eve of a vote enabling Supreme Chancellor Palpatine (played by Ian McDiarmid) to build a military force that will safeguard against a growing separatist movement led by mysterious former Jedi Count Dooku (played by Christopher Lee). After another attempt on Padme's life, Obi-Wan and Anakin separate. The young Jedi and Padme fall in love as he escorts her first to the security of Naboo and then to his home world of Tatooine, where the fate of his mother leads him to commit an ominous atrocity. Meanwhile, Obi-Wan travels to the secretive planet Kamino and the asteroid-ringed world of Geonosis, following bounty hunter Jango Fett (played by Temuera Morrison) and his son, Boba (played by Daniel Logan), who are involved in an operation to create a massive army of clones. A vicious battle ensues between the clones and Jedi on one side and Dooku's droids on the other, but who is really pulling the strings in this galactic conflict? Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones has a rating of 67% on rottentomatoes.com.
1. Batman & Robin
As much as I am a fan of Star Wars, I am a huge fan of Batman and this film ruins everything about him and I want to thank Joel Schumacher fro giving us bat-nipples (insert sarcasm). Batman (played by George Clooney) and Robin (played by Chris O'Donnell) try to keep their relationship together even as they must stop Mr. Freeze (played by Arnold Schwarzenegger) and Poison Ivy (played by Uma Thurman) from freezing Gotham City. Batman & Robin has a rating of 11% on rottentomatoes.com.
