So with Dumb and Dumber To being released this weekend I thought it would be appropriate to review its predacessor Dumb and Dumber. So without further ado...
Lloyd Christmas (played by Jim Carrey) and Harry Dunne (played by Jeff Daniels) are two intellectually-challenged best friends who share an apartment so messy that gangsters aren't sure how to trash the place; the guys also have a certain problem (not difficult to understand) holding on to jobs. Lloyd is working as a limo driver in Rhode Island when he picks up a beautiful and wealthy woman named Mary Swanson (played by Lauren Holly) who is being taken to the airport. Lloyd immediately falls head over heels in love with Mary, and when she leaves a briefcase at the airport, he's determined to return it in hopes of impressing her. Lloyd isn't able to get aboard Mary's flight (though not for lack of trying). Harry has a van decorated to look like a dog (to promote his failing dog-grooming business), and the pair hop in the Poochmobile to find Mary in Aspen. What Lloyd and Harry don't know is that the briefcase is full of money, which Mary deliberately left at the airport as a ransom payment to save the life of her kidnapped husband.
I absolutely love this film. It was one of the first films I saw when I was younger and I've always laughed so hard at this film every time I watch it. Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels work so well togehter and they have some of the best chemistry between actors in the history of film. I also really liked the supporting roles who do their job and help advance the story along for our two main characters. The story isn't the strongest but the laughs are good enough to make you forget the story. You know a film is great when the jokes made in the film can still hold up after 20 years. Overall the film is hilarious and it is one of my favorite comedies of all-time. I give Dumb and Dumber a 10 out 10.
So ladies and gentlemen what do you think of Dumb and Dumber, what would you rate it, are you excited for Dumb and Dumber To and what did you think of my review? Let me know in the comments section below and let your voice be heard.
