11-18-14 Movie News

Hello ladies and gentlemen, here is some movie news with some of my thoughts and opinions (which will be in BOLD print). So without further ado...

(NOTE: All of these stories come from comingsoon.net)

20th Century Fox has released the new trailer for The Peanuts Movie, coming to theaters on November 6, 2015 and you can watch it below. In The Peanuts Movie, a 3D, CGI-animated comedic adventure, Snoopy, the world’s most lovable beagle – and flying ace! – embarks upon his greatest mission as he and his team take to the skies to pursue their arch-nemesis, while his best pal Charlie Brown begins his own epic quest back home. The most popular and influential comic strip of all time, “Peanuts” was read every day by 355 million people in 75 countries. In addition to the famous strip, “Peanuts” holiday television specials such as “It’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown” have won Emmys and continue to be among the highest rated prime time TV specials.

This was a great trailer. It mainly focused on Snoopy and Woodstock, but they are the two my comedic side pieces in the comic strip and tv specials so that's no surprise. All I can say is that the animation really does the original cartoons justice and I'm really excited to see the film next year.

On the first day of filming, David Spade has given fans this first look at his return in Joe Dirt 2! “Day 1. Let’s get this sh*t started! #imjoedirt #whatscrappenin,” he said. Spade is re-teaming with Fred Wolf to co-write and executive produce the sequel to the Columbia Pictures cult favorite. Wolf will also direct. The sequel will pick-up where the first film left off, following the comedic misadventures of the mullet-clad, lovable redneck. Joe Dirt 2 will be produced by Happy Madison Productions. The feature is scheduled to be released in 2015 on Crackle and all Crackle platforms.

I really like this photo. It's very subtle and simple and it just gives us a sneak peak. I honestly I don't know how I feel about this film. I mean the first one ended on a perfect note and it really doesn't need a sequel so it feels like a cash grab. But I am a huge fan of the first film, but I'm going to need to see a trailer first before I can begin to judge the film.

CraveOnline has just debuted the poster design for Predestination, the new science fiction film from directors Michael and Peter Spierig and you can check it out below. Starring Ethan Hawke, Sarah Snook and Noah Taylor, Predestination chronicles the life of a Temporal Agent (Hawke) sent on an intricate series of time-travel journeys designed to prevent future killers from committing their crimes. Now, on his final assignment, the Agent must stop the one criminal that has eluded him throughout time and prevent a devastating attack in which thousands of lives will be lost. “’Predestination’ is based on the classic Robert A. Heinlein short story ‘All You Zombies,’” said the Spierig Brothers when the project was first announced. “This is one of our favorite short stories for the simple fact that we can confidently say, ‘This is unlike anything you’ve ever read before’… The short is on many sci-fi lists as one of the greatest short stories of all time, and the mother of all time paradox tales.”

This is a pretty nice poster. It's simple and it just gives us a little taste at what we are getting. The film also sounds really interesting and it feels a little bit like Quantum Leap and it has the potential to be really good. I really like the cast, poster and synopsis so I'm looking forward to the film.

The first stills from Warner Bros. Pictures’ upcoming comedy, Get Hard, have debuted today at USA Today, offering a look at the characters Will Ferrell and Kevin Hart play in the Etan Cohen film and you can check them out below. The film, which also stars Alison Brie, Edwina Findley and Craig T. Nelson, follows a rich bank manager (Ferrell) who is wrongfully convicted and sentenced to time in a maximum security prison. To prepare himself for his incarceration, Ferrell’s character hires the man who washes his car (Hart) to toughen him up in his final 30 days of freedom. “It’s that thought everyone has had,” Ferrell tells the newspaper. “What if, in some unforeseen circumstance, you were mistakenly sentenced to prison? What would you do? You would either try to flee or you would try to prepare yourself for every single scenario. That’s where comedy comes from.” Get Hard hits theaters on March 27, 2015.

I really like these photos. They just give us a little insight into how the film is going to somewhat play out. I just want to say bravo to the people that decided to put Will Ferrell and Kevin Hart together and this could be one of the funniest films ever. The plot sounds a little bit like other rehashed stories, but I'm really anxious to see it simply because of these two.

Sony Pictures has set Brad Anderson (The Machinist) to direct Shadow Run, Deadline reports. Shadow Run, originally a spec script by Joe Gazzam, is an action thriller that begins when a viral attack puts lives in danger, forcing a CIA agent to enact a secret prisoner exchange: Russia’s most notorious spy for the American scientist who can create a cure. Anderson recently helmed The Call, starring Halle Berry as well as last month’s Stonehearst Asylum, starring Kate Beckinsale. Gazzam, meanwhile, recently came aboard the upcoming big screen remake of Renny Harlin’s 1993 action thriller Cliffhanger. Neil Mortiz is producing Shadow Run through Original Film. Hernany Perla is attached to executive produce.

This is a really good choice. Now granted Brad Anderson hasn't mad the greatest films, but he's made some that weren't terrible either. Comparing to his other works this film is right in his wheelhouse and he could do a very good job with it so we'll just have to see who is cast in the film.
