So I recently watched Ride Along 2 and I'm here to bring you my review. So without further ado...
Rookie lawman Ben Barber (played by Kevin Hart) aspires to become a detective like James Payton (played by Ice Cube), his future brother-in-law. James reluctantly takes Ben to Miami to follow up on a lead that's connected to a drug ring. The case brings them to a homicide detective and a computer hacker who reveals evidence that implicates a respected businessman. It's now up to James and Ben to prove that charismatic executive Antonio Pope (played by Benjamin Bratt) is actually a violent crime lord who rules southern Florida's drug trade.
Well it looks as if January has reared it's ugly head because this film absolutely sucks. Look Kevin Hart is easily one of the best stand-up comedians in the world today and his acting has been full of a lot of misses compared to hits and this film is just a complete and utter disaster and the vacation is over for Kevin Hart as an actor. He literally does the same thing in every film and it just gets old after a while and I understand he wants to stay busy, but in the past 2 years he has been in 8 films (including this) and he has 3 more out later this year so the market is completely over-saturated with Kevin Hart to were it's almost unbearable to watch his films. Now just because his shtick is getting old doesn't make the film the disaster that it is, but some blame does go his way, but the majority of the blame goes to director Tim Story who couldn't direct his own self out of a wet paper bag. The story is just so stupid and it's one that's been done many times before and if you're trying to make a comedy then the jokes have to at least be somewhat funny and nothing in the film is funny and all of the humor is just forced with repeated jokes from the first film. Overall this is the most unfunny film that has ever existed with one of the more dumber stories ever told. I give Ride Along 2 a 0 out of 10.
