My Top 10 Films That Should Never be Remade

In today's society we look at films as an escape from reality and some of the movies that we see can leave a special impact on our life. We also look at Hollywood and think they are stupid for remaking a movie that we dearly love or add a sequel to a film that we sometimes don't want or think the film doesn't need a sequel. Now I will say that no film is ever safe and could possibly use a remake but with that being said I'm going to bring you my top 10 films that should never be remade. So without further ado...

10. 2001: A Space Odyssey
A painted image of four space-suited astronauts standing next to a piece of equipment atop a Lunar hill, in the distance is a Lunar base and a ball-shaped spacecraft descending toward it—with the earth hanging in a black sky in the background. Above the image appears "An epic drama of adventure and exploration" in blue block letters against a white background. Below the image in a black band, the title "2001: a space odyssey" appears in yellow block letters.

Now not only will Kubrick's family not let a remake happen, this film wouldn't look to great in today's society. Now some of you will say that the technology we have today will make this film look great but the thing is it's a futuristic film that is titled 2001: A Space Odyssey and I don't think filmgoing audiences will want to see the film.

9. Casablanca
Black-and-white film screenshot with the title of the film in fancy font. Below it is the text "A Warner Bros. – First National Picture". In the background is a crowded nightclub filled with many people.

This film is very iconic and it has a special meaning and tone to it that it could only have an impact in the 1940's. I think that any filmmaker would actually be scared to remake this film

8. Toy Story
Film poster showing Woody anxiously holding onto Buzz Lightyear as he flies in a kid's room. Below them sitting on a bed are various smiling toys watching the pair, including Mr. Potato Head, Hamm, and Rex. In the lower right center of the image is the film's title. The background shows the cloud wallpaper featured in the bedroom.

Honestly why would you remake this. When a films story is still relavent almost 20 years after its release then there is absolutely no point to remake a film especially a film like this.

7. This is Spinal Tap

An 80's film that has a ton of 80's cliches wouldn't work in this time period. This film came along at a time when rock n' roll was at it's peak and now it's blended in with pop so it's a confusing genre nowadays and spoof film wouldn't work.

6. Reservoir Dogs

This film is the quintessential crime film. Every film that has come after it has had to live up to it (Pulp Fiction is the only one to do it and do it better and it's another Tarantino film). I honestly don't think that you can reboot the one of the top 3 greatest crime films of all-time.

5. The Shawshank Redemption

Everything about this film is just absolutely perfect . This is one of the greatest films of all-time and it honestly doesn't deserve a remake.

4.  E. T. The Extra Terrestrial

This film came out at the perfect time for a lot of people. It's an emotional tale and it's one that doesn't need to be remade. It's one of the greatest films of all-time and has the certain amount of cheesiness and nostalgia that just makes it perfect.

3. Apocalypse Now

Listen it's no secret that Francis Ford Coppola had one of the worst times filming the film that it almost didn't get made (you can somewhat thank Marlon Brando for those problems. I believe that directors don't want to go thought the process again and that's why the film will never and never should be remade.

2. Pulp Fiction

All I have to say is that this is one of my favorite films of all-time and I honestly don't want to see it remade and I'll be pretty pissed if is. Tarantino is a masterful director and I don't think anyone else could do any of his films any justice.

1. Citizen Kane
Poster showing two women in the bottom left of the picture looking up towards a man in a white suit in the top right of the picture. "Everybody's talking about it. It's terrific!" appears in the top right of the picture. "Orson Welles" appears in block letters between the women and the man in the white suit. "Citizen Kane" appears in red and yellow block letters tipped 60° to the right. The remaining credits are listed in fine print in the bottom right.

Listen most movie pundits and critics agree that this is the greatest film of all-time (although it is just a little overrated). This film came at the perfect time and I feel that remaking this film would be a huge waste of time and money.

So ladies and gentlemen what did you think of my list and what are some of the films that you think should never be remade? Let me know in the comment section below and let your voice be heard.
