My Review of Ant-Man

So I recently watched Ant-Man and I'm here to bring you my review. So without further ado........

Armed with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, master thief Scott Lang (played by Paul Rudd) must embrace his inner-hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym (played by Michael Douglas), protect the secret behind his spectacular Ant-Man suit from a new generation of towering threats. Against seemingly insurmountable obstacles, Pym and Lang must plan and pull off a heist that will save the world.

This was a really great movie. we are used to seeing the same type of superhero film over and over again and this one is different in every single way. Usually origin stories include either and awkward man/woman who is trying to figure out who they are or a man who is hellbent on revenge and this origin story is about a man who is doing what he thinks is right for the world and for his daughter. I thought Paul Rudd was a great choice for the character of Scott Lang and while was a way outta left field choice, he ends up fitting in well into the Marvel Cinematic Universe and I can't wait to see his interactions with Tony Stark in future Marvel films. Pretty much the entire cast was great in the film and they worked well together on screen. A couple of the problems with include a strong villain and look I really enjoyed Corey Stoll in the role of Darren Cross, but he was a basically a throwaway villain just so we can have this film and Marvel is getting in the habit of doing that with every villain in all of their movies with the exception being Loki and possibly Abomination (from The Incredible Hulk), but if you look at every other Marvel Cinematic Universe film besides The Avengers, The Incredible Hulk and Thor, then there are no great villains and unfortunately Corey Stoll's Darren Cross/Yellowjacket joins the club of terrible villains. Another problem I had with the film is that I felt it dragged on a little too long and it was almost hard to distinguish between the first and second act. I was also really surprised at how good the comedy was and this is easily the funniest Marvel film to date and the visual effects are absolutely spectacular and they are easily the best in the MCU so far. Overall this was a really great and different film, but it still has some of the same flaws as other Marvel films. I give Ant-Man a 9 out of 10.

So ladies and gentlemen what did you think of Ant-Man, what would you rate it and what did you think of my review? Let me know in the comments section below and let your voice be heard.
