Hello ladies and gentlemen, here is some movie news with some of my thoughts and opinions (which will be in BOLD print). So without further ado...

Deadline reports that a new dynamic duo is forming at Warner Bros. Pictures as Ben Affleck is set to co-write the script for an upcoming solo Batman movie with DC Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns, a film which Affleck will also direct. No stranger to the dark knight himself, Geoff Johns has written several issues for the character’s solo title in addition to both volumes of Batman: Earth One and Batman’s regular appearances in Justice League. Johns has also been responsible for several episodes of “Smallville,” “Arrow” and “The Flash,” which he co-developed. The outlet also notes that the pair are reportedly in sync with each other and could have a draft completed as early as the end of the summer, just before Affleck goes to direct his next feature, an adaptation of the Dennis Lehane novel Live By Night. They reveal that the plot for the film will “reflect the Batman character” as he appears after his other DC films. No release date is currently set for the film, though it’s possible another movie in the DC slate will move to make room for the bat. Affleck will make his debut as the character in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, set for release on March 25, 2016, and he will then appear in Justice League: Part One, set for release on November 17, 2017.
This is great news to hear. This has been rumored for a long time and I'm really glad that it is somewhat confirmed, it's still rumor, but we should get some confirmation this weekend at Comic-Con. When Ben Affleck was announced as the new Batman we all thought with Warner Bros. bringing him on was a sign that they were going to hand him the keys to the franchise and it's a great idea. Allfeck is a die-hard Batman fan (like myself) so he knows the character and plus the last film he directed won Best Picture at The Oscars (Argo in 2012) and the last film he wrote was The Town and both of those films are amazing plus he won an Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay (along with Matt Damon) for Good Will Hunting. Right now it's still a rumor, but like I said we could get confirmation this weekend.
Fox Searchlight Pictures has revealed the first Brooklyn trailer and poster which you can watch below. The romantic drama stars Saoirse Ronan, Domhnall Gleeson, Emory Cohen, Jim Broadbent and Julie Walters. Brooklyn tells the profoundly moving story of Eilis Lacey (Saoirse Ronan), a young Irish immigrant navigating her way through 1950s Brooklyn. Lured by the promise of America, Eilis departs Ireland and the comfort of her mother’s home for the shores of New York City. The initial shackles of homesickness quickly diminish as a fresh romance sweeps Eilis into the intoxicating charm of love. But soon, her new vivacity is disrupted by her past, and Eilis must choose between two countries and the lives that exist within. The film is directed by John Crowley and written by Nick Hornby, based on Colm Toibin’s acclaimed novel. Brooklyn is produced by Finola Dwyer and Amanda Posey and is scheduled to be given a limited release on November 6.
This was a really great trailer. While in my opinion it did show a little too much and I feel like I know what is going to happen in the film, but it showed enough for me to get excited about the film. This film has been getting rave reviews from the people who saw the film at Sundance earlier this year and it could very well be a big Oscar contender. The has everything you need to win an Oscar in the cast, setting and story, it now has to live up to the hype.
Alison Sudol has been set to star with Eddie Redmayne and Katherine Waterston in Warner Bros. Pictures’ highly-anticipated feature Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, a new adventure set in J.K. Rowling’s Wizarding World. The announcement was made today by Greg Silverman, President of Creative Development and Worldwide Production, Warner Bros. Pictures. Sudol will play Queenie, the sister of Tina (Waterston). The two women meet Newt Scamander (Redmayne) when the magizoologist makes a stop in New York on his travels to find and document fantastic beasts. David Yates, who directed the last four “Harry Potter” films, will helm the film from a screenplay by J.K. Rowling. The creator of the Wizarding World, Ms. Rowling was inspired by her character Newt Scamanders’ Hogwarts textbook, “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.” The film is being produced by David Heyman, producer of all eight of the blockbuster “Harry Potter” features; J.K. Rowling; Steve Kloves, who scripted all but one of the “Harry Potter” films; and Lionel Wigram, who served as an executive producer on the last four installments of the franchise. Alison Sudol’s role in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them will mark her major feature film debut. On the small screen, she recently had a recurring role in the award-winning series “Transparent,” and she currently stars in the USA Network series “Dig.” Sudol came to fame as an alternative singer/songwriter. Her first album, “One Cell in the Sea,” was released in 2007. Her second album, “Bomb in a Birdcage,” was released in 2009. Her third album, “Pines,” was released to global critical acclaim in October 2012. Her music has also been heard in a wide range of films, including “Admission,” “What to Expect When You’re Expecting,” “New Year’s Eve” and “Dan in Real Life.” Warner Bros. Pictures has slated Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them for worldwide release in 3D and IMAX on November 18, 2016.
This is pretty interesting casting. Allison Sudol is really an unknown actress and she is mostly known for her music, but I've honestly never heard of her until now. It's not the first time a "Harry Potter" film has went with several unknowns for a film (i.e the main trio for the Harry Potters) so maybe this will work out for the better. Everything about this film gets me excited and anything that lets me dive back into the world of Harry Potter is something I want to see.
According to Variety, two-time Oscar-winner Ben Affleck’s next directorial outing Live By Night has been officially greenlit by Warner Bros. Pictures, with the Prohibition-era organized crime tale set to go before cameras this November. Having previously adapted Dennis Lehane’s Gone Baby Gone in 2007, Affleck originally intended to bring Lehane’s sprawling 2012 novel “Live By Night” (set in Boston, Florida and Cuba) to the screen shortly after his Best Picture win for Argo in 2013, but starring roles in Gone Girl and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice delayed things. As of now, the cast includes Elle Fanning, Sienna Miller and Zoe Saldana, with Affleck’s The Accountant co-star Jon Bernthal at one time rumored for a role as well. Affleck is set to star as Joe Coughlin, the son of a Boston police captain who -starting in 1926- works his way up the ladder of an organized crime family, going from petty thief to the Gulf Coast’s most successful rum runner. You can purchase the novel here. Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Davisson Killoran and Jennifer Todd will produce the film alongside Affleck, who also adapted the screenplay. Warners had initially slated Live By Night for an October 7, 2016 release, though that may change.
This is really great news to hear. I say that simply because this film is going to be amazing. It's another Affleck directed film (he hasn't done a bad one yet) and I think this could be his best one yet. This is also another film for people to see Ben Affleck to direct and get a good feel for how he'll do with the solo Batman film. The sounds amazing and so does the cast and I cannot wait to see this film.
From renowned director Peter Bogdanovich, She’s Funny That Way is a screwball comedy featuring the interconnected personal lives of the cast and crew of a Broadway production. When established director Arnold Albertson (Owen Wilson) casts his call girl-turned-actress Isabella “Izzy” Patterson (Imogen Poots) in a new play to star alongside his wife Delta (Kathryn Hahn) and her ex-lover Seth Gilbert (Rhys Ifans), a zany love tangle forms with hilarious twists. Jennifer Aniston plays Izzy’s therapist Jane, who is consumed with her own failing relationship with Arnold’s playwright Joshua Fleet (Will Forte), who is also developing a crush on Izzy. She’s Funny That Way was written by Bogdanovich and Louise Stratten.
This is a bland poster. I say bland, but I honestly mean generic because we have seen a ton of posters just like this one. Just because I hate the poster doesn't mean that I will hate the film. It does sound really interesting, but some parts remind me of Birdman in certain aspects, but this film will probably be vastly different. I really cast and I hope gel enough for the film to be successful.
